Dr Howard is an artistic plastic surgeon. He helps you choose the procedure that is best for you. Dr Howard has a way of setting you at ease from the moment you meet him. In my case he told some jokes to soften the atmosphere. A few days after my surgery on a Friday evening Dr Howard called me to see how I was doing. I was so surprised and thankful. He also made sure to speak with my husband, when we first met him and throughout my surgeries. The office atmosphere and all the staff from booking appointments with Carrie, help by Bri and Sylvia were so professional and kind. At any time with any questions you can call and they get back to you. The office staff is truly a caring team. Appointments are on time and easy to make and change if needed. Dr. Howard is by far one of the best doctors I have ever come across. He is very welcoming, truly cares about his patients, is understanding of any/all my concerns, and performs high-quality work. He was the first and the only consult I had as I was deciding on surgery. After meeting with him and having him spend over an hour talking to me about the procedure, the recovery process, what should be expected long term, answering all of my questions, and more, I knew that I had no reason to look any further for another surgeon. After surgery, Dr. Howard and his team were extremely accommodating at my post-op appointments. I walked out of each appointment happier than when I walked in, which I did not think was possible! I can't thank Dr. Howard enough! I was in extreme burning and catching pain in my abdomen for 8 years. It effected everything I did, such as playing with my kids, tying my shoe, standing, and forget exercising. I had gone to countless doctors and none of them knew what it was or could even find it. Many doctors said it was phycological, but the pain was real and my stomach would clamp down when I would bend over or turn wrong. Dr. Howard was absolutely fabulous! He was professional, he listened, he took his time but most of all he did an amazing job on my abdomen. He found the hole and the nerve that was entangle in my abdomen wall. Dr. Howard is a top-notch surgeon. I have recently lost a great deal of weight. Dr. Howard is my surgeon for all of my skin removal surgeries. Every recommendation for a plastic surgeon (from trusted doctors and friends) was for Dr. Howard. I felt comfortable with him the minute he walked into the consultation room. Dr. Howard is genuinely one of the most kind, empathetic people I have ever met, which is extremely rare in a top-rated surgeon. Because I have an extensive amount of skin to be removed, I will need to have multiple procedures (belt lipectomy, arm lift, breast lift, back lift, thigh lift, and liposuction). Dr. Howard will perform these procedures in three surgeries. He worked with me to develop a plan that would give me the best result and be the most cost effective. He took the time to listen to what I wanted to achieve with the surgeries. He explained all of the risks involved and made sure I had realistic expectations. Dr. Howard did my reconstructive surgery after a bi-lateral mastectomy. He is not the only Plastic Surgeon I saw, I got a few opinions before making my choice. I can not say enough wonderful things about this man. He is not only an excellent surgeon but he truly cares about his patients. I never felt like just another patient or a number, I always felt he cared for me as a person and made sure my concerns were addressed. I trust and appreciate this man so much that even tho my husband and I have moved from the Chicago area to Phoenix Arizona I still travel back to Chicago for any check up visits with him. I could not be happier with my bilateral breast reconstruction. Dr. Howard is simply the best. He was patient, compassionate and very knowledgeable. His process is relatively pain free, recovery is rapid, and outcomes excellent. I would highly recommend Dr. Howard.

Dr. Howard rebuilt my foot after a very complicated injury. Further, his follow up care and subsequent attention has made a significant impact on my quality of life. Dr. Howard provides a unique combination of expertise and patient care that I have not experienced with other providers.

I met with Dr. Howard last week for a consultation. He took his time with me asked me questions about the outcome I wanted to see and gave me all the information I would need about my upcoming procedure. He is very responsive and very personable. Dr. Howard is a gifted surgeon and a compassionate doctor. I am so grateful that I chose to have the diep flap breast reconstruction surgery in lieu of getting a breast implant following my mastectomy. It feels so natural - I feel like myself again!

We had a very unsatisfactory experience with scheduling and billing. We were told that consults could only be in person (fair enough) and that the fee would be one amount. We were later charged a significantly higher amount (unfair) due to an error that billing department still refuses to own (unacceptable). As for the brief consult, Dr. Howard was competent and courteous.

Over the past several years, I have had numerous occurrences of skin cancer (basal and squamous cells) to my scalp and facial area. In most cases, these cancer cells were successfully treated by my Dermatologist, via Mohs surgery. Most recently, however, a diagnosis of Atypical Fiberoxanthoma to my scalp, which was initially treated via Mohs surgery and followed by a six-week regimen of radiation, unfortunately required more extensive surgery. My surgical team consisted of a trio of specialists: a Surgical Oncologist, a Neurological Surgeon and a Plastic Surgeon. Surgery went well, with each Surgeon lending their expertise. Following a period of recuperation and extensive discussion with my Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Michael A. Howard, I decided to proceed with scalp reconstruction. In preparation, Dr. Howard thoroughly explained the procedure to me and my family; responding to each of our questions, guiding us both before and after surgery and through each follow-up visit. As anyone can imagine, this is a pretty traumatic experience, but I always knew I could trust Dr. Howard and his surgical skills. He really helped me evaluate my choices for breast reconstruction after a double mastectomy. He did an outstanding job with the surgery - I am very happy with the results! In addition, he is warm, clearly cares for his patients and is pretty funny. Staff was great and I rarely had to wait. I give him the highest recommendation.

He is a true professional. He removed a mode from my head and there is not scare.

Due to cancer, Dr. Howard has performed several surgeries on me. He is very patient, understanding - all the decisions were mine.

We can't say enough good things about Dr. Howard and his excellent care of Barbara Gaetano. Barbara's care began at Elmhurst hospital but due to circumstances she was transferred to Northshore for continued care. As Dr. Howard was highly recommended to us we contacted him prior to Barbara's transfer. He made himself VERY available to the family to make us feel comfortable with her current and future treatment by himself. His expert wound care is without comparison.

Dr Howard did a superb surgery closing a rather large opening in my scalp. He is a fine person who exudes confidence in patients and assures them of his skill to do the "challenging type surgeries" He had the bet bedside manner I have experienced. john krajewski

I have been very please with the quality of care I have received by Dr. Howard. Being a healthcare professional myself, I know what it takes to go the extra mile for your patient. A procedure that was denied by my health ins was reversed after Dr. Howard took the time to speak personally with the ins carrier explaining the necessity of the procedure. Instead of washing his hand of the denial, he went the extra mile and the procedure is now being covered. This says a lot for this physician.

My plastic surgery was due to breast cancer. I had a bilateral mastectomy with immediate implant replacement. He worked with my breast cancer surgeon and took over in the operating room as soon as the surgeon was done with cancer removal. During each post op visit he was very understanding of all of my questions and very reassuring of my recovery pace and timing. I had an excellent experience with him.

I consulted Dr. Howard about a potential cosmetic procedure, which he explained thoroughly along with the complexities and hospitalization involved without being able to assure that I would be pleased with the outcome, particularly given my advanced age. I was tremendously grateful for his honesty and acceptance of me deciding to reject the procedure. I have multiple physical disabilities which means I fall outside most medical protocols. It has always been difficult to find a surgeon who has the skill, knowledge and patience to adjust a particular protocol to fit me. Dr. Howard's skills, knowledge and patience are "off the chart". When my other doctors examine me, they are amazed at the results he achieved under fairly challenging circumstances. I have only the highest accolades for Dr. Howard. My nine year-old daughter and I are both satisfied patients of Dr. Howard's. Three years ago, my daughter hurt her cheek on the playground requiring 18 stitches. Dr. Howard calmly and carefully repaired her face about 1.5 hours after the injury occurred. He was kind enough to come in and alter his schedule to take care of her. Now no one even knows that she had such terrible facial lacerations. That is why, when I discovered I had skin cancer, I insisted on Dr. Howard doing my facial stitches.

Dr. Michael Howard is the most kind, personable, compassionate and gifted doctors I have met. I am so pleased with the outcome of my surgery and am so grateful to have found him to perform this procedure for me. I have total trust in him and the deepest respect for him as well. He made me feel so comfortable from our first meeting and I can't thank him enough.

I did not have a good experience with Dr. Howard. It appeared obvious to me that he is only interested in patients who will likely have breast surgery ($$$). .When I told Dr. Howard I had made the appointment to ask him questions about a breast condition I have, he implied I was wasting his time, telling me that he "had other patients in the office" and was "running behind." Although he did apologize, I immediately went home and made an appointment with a plastic surgeon at Northwestern.

Dr. Howard performed my breast reduction surgery. The process leading up to the surgery, the operation itself, and post-op care was professional and caring. I felt safe and confident thanks to the entire staff who are alway available if needed. While the environment is superb, the results of the operation are even more impressive: Minimal pain (used only Tylenol 2 days post-op), scars/incisions blend in with natural creases and curves, and back pain/migraines (which were daily) are gone.

Dr. Howard is a fantastic surgeon and had great rapport with me. He answered all questions and I have total confidence in him.

Dr. Howard performed a very intricate tissue flap, graft surgery on my scalp and it was most successful. After being quite apprehensive about this operation, it turned out to be a successful, pleasant experience. But aside from being an extremely capable surgeon, Dr. Howard is one of the sweetest, nicest man I've ever met. He is very concerned about his patients and takes such care to make them feel relaxed and important. This review does not even begin to say what I think of Dr. Howard.

Dr Howard is a wonderful caring and great surgeon. He was able to repair the mistakes of my previous surgery and provide a beautiful result . The doctor cares about his patients he takes the time and listens to your problems and fixes them . A great mam and great surgeon!

Dr Howard is an excellent surgeon. He is honest and sets the right expectations. Very easy to talk to and extremely responsive I would highly recommend him
