Clear, efficient, excellent and professional treatment of my spinal stenosis. I am very happy with his services and would recommend him to others. I feel fortunate that I have someone with his expertise and experience helping me deal with my spinal concerns.

Dr. Goebel has twice addressed pain caused by arthritic cysts pressing on my sciatic nerve. He is careful to first try alternatives to surgery but when surgery is necessary is thorough and shows experience and expertise with his work. I appreciate that he uses Advent Hospital system for his work. Dr. Goebel answers questions and concerns well through the process.

He is very professional and I have always trusted his treatment of my neck issues.

Dr. Goeble is a joke of a spin Dr! Especially when it comes to Workers Comp. He literally said nothing is wrong with my back, I injured my back back in December of 2021, I’ve been in pain for 14 months from my injury, he just looked at me said my MRI looked like I have a healthy back ???? I have an injury to a disc that has Degenerate disc disease and causes severe pain constantly. He refused to answer any of my wife’s questions. Told me he sees nothing wrong with me and pretty much said I don’t have pain.I’ve had my family Dr and pain management tell me I have a injury in this disc! He’s nothing but a check man for WC! If you have to have a spin Dr, go anywhere but here!! I’d rather see Dr. Kevorkian before I ever set foot in this office again! Run as fast as you can from Dr. Goeble!

The nurses and Dr. Gobble were very attentive to my concerns and condition.

Dr. Goebel has helped several members of my family over the years. He did surgery on my neck 2 years ago. I've been doing very good , with no pain, since the surgery on my neck. Now he is going to do surgery on my lower back. I trust his work. I highly recommend him and the office staff is great.

This was my second visit with Dr. Goebel. He listened to my concerns and I did not feel rushed. I appreciate (in my case) his conservative/holistic approach.

Dr. Goebel is a great communicator who presents information with Xray and MRI documents, explains everything in detail and is open to questions. He has a very good bedside manner and I am very pleased with the results of my surgery.

Everyone I encountered at this practice was professional and very kind. I was concerned I would need to have surgery. I went in after an automobile accident while in "THE COMPANY VEHICLE" ... I was rear ended by another vehicle July 30 2018 I had disc herniation in c4-5, c5-6, and c6-7. I was numb on both sides and radiating shooting pain down both sides. I was sent there by workman's comp for a second opinion after I had went through 8mths of pain meds, physical therapy, and injections after my doctor Dr.Moody CS&NC told me I needed three level ACDF surgery in November... Dr Goeble sent me to get a nerve test by Dr Hankley. The nerve test come back negative and i was told by Dr Goeble there was nothing wrong other than some arthritis in my neck and if I proceeded with the surgery that Workman's Comp would "MAKE IT ROUGH ON ME"... After that second opinion I was denied my workman's comp. I proceeded at the advice of my doctor and afterward was told that I was one finger nail away from being a quadraplegic. I had three level ACDF Surgery on March,6th 2019. I have done remarkably well... I'm actually running 15-20 miles a week and planning on running my first half-marathon at the Biltmore in March... I have seen Dr.Goebel for terrible back pain. Because of the "upsets"I cannot have surgery and so I'm left with awful pain. I am now on a medication that seems to help! For 40years I was a FNP and I know what comfort a practitioner can give. Thank you Dr. GOEBEL for all of your care!

Great visit. Exam was fine. Explained the choices for treatment was well done.

Nurses and care were very nice and knowledgeable. Dr Goebel was very helpful and knowledgeable about condition.

I had a Double Laminectomy with Decompression 1-24-2022, Dr Goebel, explained the process, what to expect, any risks, so I had a comfort level etc . The pain prior was mind numbing I could not feel my feet, extreme sciatica that controlled every thought and movement. Since surgery I have no pain and feel amazing. Thank you, Dr Goebel.

The entire process from initial exam to spinal laminectomy surgery to post-op recovery went VERY well. No surprises at all, experienced immediate relief from sciatic-like leg pain as soon as I woke up in recovery. Dr. Goebel very carefully examined me, scheduled a spinal MRI, also did follow-up X-rays in the office. The entire process was carefully done, no pressure at all to do surgery, although it was the only viable path to correct the excruciating pain. Office post-surgery visit went smoothly and Dr. Goebel and I are very pleased with the results. Now, it's lots of walking exercise and carefully getting back to a full life routine. I appreciate that Dr. Goebel used embedded bio-sorbable sutures/staples to put everything back together. This means NO SUTURE/STAPLE removal in post-surgery recovery. I very much recommend Dr. Michael Goebel to examine your spinal related problems, and help you on your path to pain-free living. He is sensitive to the needs of the patient.

Kept pulling his mask all the way down around his chin. It made me extremely uncomfortable as covid cases are at a record high. I don't know how I could trust a doctor who lacks such a basic understanding. Everyone else I've seen at the practice has been fine.

I felt that Dr. Gooch at Carolina Spine was giving me the run around. I told Dr. Gooch in October and November that if I needed surgery then it needed to be done in 2021. I was in constant pain for months. Carolina Spine informed me on Dec. 9th they would be closed the rest of the year. I managed to see Dr. Goebel Friday Dec. 10th at EmergeOrtho and he had me in for surgery the next Tuesday. 100% pain relief that day. Problem solved. The whole staff at EmergeOrtho were pleasant and helpful as was the whole staff at the new Western Carolina surgery Center. I cannot thank them both enough. Professional, caring and enjoyed helping the patient. Bless them all.

Had a pinched nerve on L3,4,5. Surgery was successful . Dr. Goebel has been my orthopedist for 20 years. He always explains every procedure well and offers good advice.

I have always had a great experience with Dr. Goebel. He was soft spoken, listened well, and treated my hip bursitis so that I could get some relief.

He completely disregarded any information I gave him. Had his opinion made before I ever stepped in his office.

I had a wonder experience with Dr Goebel. I was having trouble with my L5-S1 disc which had herniated. Dr Goebel ordered an MRI and quickly got back to me about my options. We decided upon surgery bc I had been having years of bad sciatic pain down my left leg. I was scheduled for surgery within 3 weeks. All went well and I am happy to say I am pain free! Unfortunately I experienced the doctor described in the one-star reviews. He was curt, dismissive, argued with me about a prescription I was given by another physical to alleviate arthritis pain which leads me to believe he does not keep up on meds very well. I asked for a referral to a rheumatologist and he relied, “No, they only take care of rheumatoid arthritis.” This is untrue as far as I can tell. So I requested a referral to a pain doctor as I’m in excruciating pain much of my life. He referred me to a local doctor who healthgrades noted has TWICE lost his medical license! Thanks but no thanks. Dr. Goebel was a disaster for me. I sat in my car and cried after I left his office.

I have never been treated so dismissively by a physician. Dr. Goebel was haughty and horrible. He acted like he knew me more than I knew myself after being in an office with me for 2 minutes. He said I "just need to power through the pain" and "there's nothing [they] can do for me." Then he didn't make eye contact and left the examination room. Even though Dr. Goebel is a surgeon, he is not one to look at surgery as the only option. He thoroughly explained what I should do and which over-the-counter pain medications I should take while I healed.

Dr. Goeble saw me promptly, reviewed results of XRays and an MRI ordered a few days before and gave me options with pros and cons for each way to relieve my extreme pain. He offered surgery 4 days later which greatly relieved sciatic issues from my spine. He answered all my questions before and during a follow-up post surgery visit. His office was well organized and efficiently operated with a caring staff. I strongly recommend Dr. Goeble and EmergeOrtho in Asheville, NC!

Lots of pain with nerve down left leg.Assisted with MRI Dr. Goebel correctly and quickly determined the proceedure required and visually explained it. The surgery was scheduled, 5 hours later I woke up, some new screws in my back. The next 2 days were tough. Not a lot of pain in my back but tremendous pain in both legs when trying to stand. Next stop 2 weeks of PT getting rid of pain learning to walk again. Now 3 weeks after surgery NO PAIN! Blaim Dr. Goebel! Incision has healed quickly. Next time? Hope not but if so Dr. Goebel will be the first to know.

Dr Goebel worked with me trying to not have surgery. On Dec 14, 2020 Had surgery and feeling better. Still some pain but was told to give it 2 or 3 months for healing. I would highly recommend Dr Goebel to anyone.

I had a laminotomy on October 12th to relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve. My pain had been intense and I tried everything to alleviate it. Surgery was my last resort and Dr. Goebel explained in detail how the procedure would help. My discomfort level was unbearable. The result was phenomanal. Within weeks I was walking pain free for several miles.

Dr goebel performed back surgery on me on oct 12 2020 felt 100% better when I woke up . He tried physical therapy and injections first but didn’t last. I wouldn’t go to any other doctor for back.he explains everything and listens to your questions and concerns

Dr. Goebel has been very helpful with my health problem. He tried treatment without surgery and when that didn't help, he performed microscopic surgery. This was a fast and easy procedure for me. And, it has been successful. It is wonderful to be with out the pain I was suffering. I highly recommend Dr. Goebel.

I met Dr. Goebel earlier this year after most pain management approaches had failed to address my chronic lumbar back pain. He reviewed x-rays an MRI results, consulted with orthopedic colleagues familiar with my situation and following his own exam, reviewed my situation thoroughly and patiently with me. Then, we both agreed that it was time for surgery, Dr. Goebel performed an outpatient lumbar laminectomy at Advent Hospital in Hendersonville, NC. on August 10, 2020. I am amazed at the absence of both the chronic pain and the sciatica that often accompanied my walks. I am back to walking 3 miles a day and very happy to have met Dr. Goebel and had him conduct my surgery.

I first went to Dr Goebel complaining about my right shoulder and arm having pain and tingling sensations all the time. He had X-rays done and there is arthritis in my neck, he suggested an MRI or over the counter medication. I tried the medication first then called back with the same issues so he set me up with an MRI. We discussed the MRI which found arthritis in C5 and a large herniated disk in C6/7. So we discussed surgery, Dr Goebel is very professional has great mannerisms and explained the surgery procedure thoroughly to rid me of my fears of having neck surgery. The procedure went well and I am very happy with the results. I would highly recommend Dr Goebel to friends and family members and would definitely go back to him. I am a very happy and pleased patient! I would also like to mention that BRBJ has friendly, pleasant staff members.

I had back pain that radiated down my right hip and leg. Dr. Goebel led me through the initial visit, mri reading, cortisone shot treatment and then surgery on August 3. My back is so much better thanks to Dr. Goebel "freeing up" my nerve that was "stuck" to a disc. Dr. Goebel was always friendly, compassionate and professional. Dr. Goebel diagnosed and then give his recommendations and then asked me what I wanted to do or how I wanted to proceed. I would highly recommend Dr. Goebel and his staff!

Dr. Goebel is a wonderful doctor, he has done back surgery on me twice and I would never consider anyone else. For the last few months I have had terrific pain in my right hip and leg, he did surgery on July 27, 2020 and now I have no pain. He and his staff are just wonderful and understood my pain. He released me today and I hate I will not see him again. He is kind, caring and sweet. Just the very best, he did everything he could for me before the only thing left was surgery. He is great!

Wish I hadn't wasted my time with this doctor. He gave me the impression he's the type of doctor that cares more about how many patients he can see in a day, rather than actually caring for the patient. I've been having chronic low back pain. I went to see Dr. Goebel at EmergeOrtho wanting to discuss my issues with a professional. After the x-ray, he said he can't give me any answers until I get an MRI. It almost seemed like a canned answer. I understood, but still wanted to discuss some things, since this has been an issue for years. He basically told me, he doesn't know what's wrong until I get an MRI, but it's probably genetic and I'll just keep getting worse, and there's nothing that can be done about it. I tried asking some questions and engaging in a conversation. He did not answer my questions, barely gave me a physical exam at all, and rushed out of the room like it was on fire. I left the doctor's office with a sense of doom and despair that I had never felt before. He must not realize that a positive outlook and attitude can assist in a patient's recovery. Low and behold, after a couple months of yoga, stretching and light exercise on my own, I am beginning to feel better. I should've just bought a book on Amazon about low back pain for $15.99, because it would've been a better help, and less morbid than paying a visit to Dr. Goebel. Let me start this review by saying BRBJ/EmergeOrtho is in my opinion the best Orthopedic practice available in WNC. I have had numerous occasions to take advantage of their expertise. My initial encounter was total right hip replacement in 2007 with Dr. Karegeannes and 12+ years later everything is normal. Next was carpal tunnel release performed by Dr. Cammarata on both wrists in 2011 and 2014. These procedures were once again performed in 2019 after a relapse due on my part. Dr. Goebel worked with me to determine what the best fix was for my back problems. Initially, it started out with Facet Injection between L4 and L5 / Dr. Daniel Hankley. Then, dual Dual Steroid injections in lower back for arthritic pain were performed several times over an extended period of time. The results did not offer any long term relief. An MRI scan was administered and it determined I had spinal stenosis in the neck and lower back area. I was referred to Dr. Hicks by Dr. Goebel for it might mean rear posterior entry for the neck area and he was better suited for that due to experience. Well, after frontal surgery and 4 days later posterior surgery on the neck I was home recuperating. I failed to mention when I first saw Dr. Hicks I was in a wheel chair. I still needed one more surgery on my lower back which Dr. Goebel performed on December 30. Right now I am doing 100% better and feel I could conquer the world. Dr. Goebel is one fantastic Physician, by the way he reviewed my case, went thru all the options available to him and then decided “Go for it”. Visited Dr Goebel for lower back pain. After quickly diagnosing the problem we tried non surgical options. Afterward we agreed on surgery which was performed timely and went with 100% success! I said "we" in my review because Dr Goebel communicated his observations and together we agreed on the treatment plan. I could not ask for a more professional and competent medical provider.
