Dr. Connelly is only interested in making money. Has no interest in helping the patient. Very smug, too. After 2 visits, enough is enough.

Was seen by Dr Connolly on three different office visits. He was extremely rude and arrogant on all three visits. He came very close to me physically showing him he can’t treat patients like this. Shouldn’t be practicing medicine. Reported him and he better hope we don’t meet on the outside

Worst doctor on earth! He didn't review my files or MRI and then shrugged me off and said I should see a psychiatrist because I couldn't possibly be in pain. He didn't bother to look at the MRI which clearly shows my herniated disc!

Just Awful. He thinks he's a Psychiatrist. Has more interest in your mental health than being a so called "Pain Management" Doctor. I’d give zero stars if I could

I would never recommend this doctor he is the worst physician I have ever had he is not concerned about the bad side affects of a medication only that he prescribed it . He also talks down to you doesn’t listen just that what he says is what it is and if you question him he tells you , you can find another physician.

This doctor has the God complex. Barely reviewed my file and then stated that I could not be in pain. Did not listen to me and went on to prescribe me medication that he prescribed to two other patients I met that day. His apparent cure for everybody-medication to treat depression. If you are in pain or have chronic pain, DO NOT see this doctor. You have been warned. Even his staff knows what he is like based on their facial expressions but they can not speak.

My first visit I found him.very pleasant, and professional.

Wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone, I had an injury in 2011 and have had 5 surgeries and still have chronic pain and nerve damage and he said it is all due to depression and offered no treatment from him. Is this a doctor or a psychiatrist??? Even said he didn't agree with the other doctor's treatment. I didn't know depression causes so much burning pain??

I have been seeing Dr. Connelly for over two years now I went for a second opinion on my first visit he knew right away I had a problem and diagnosed me immediately my previous doctor treating me was clueless and I had suffered for over two years. I am very grateful for being referred to Dr. Connelly and would highly recommend him to anyone who help like I did.

I sat and waited an hour for dr Connolly to come in. It was my first visit. He came in with a pompous attitude and told me that I wasn’t in pain and it was all in my head and that there were no other further appts needed. The most unprofessional man I have ever met. Do not come here!

He is serious at the beginning but knows what he is doing I personally recommend him 100% percent I hate people giving stupid reviews !

I have been a patient of Dr. Connolly for over 10 years...I firmly believe I am walking upright due to the medical plan he put together for me...we tried several pain management treatments (therapy, pain medication, exercises) before we reach the shot option. I trust this doctor with my pain management 100%!!!

Due to my severe back pain I have had a number of procedures and office visits with Dr Connelly. He has always been very professional. One thing of note is that he listens carefully with what I say and suggests a method of treatment accordingly. I am continuing to see him and cannot recommend him more highly. Bob G, North Andover

Via phone talk. I had talked with Dr Connelly as a last resort given every other doctor in the practice in the pain clinic is gone. To begin with I thought he sounded nice enough until he told me I couldn't get another shot which I've been given for 7 years. He said It wasn't his way of doing things. He suggested another place that works with meditation. What does that do for my pain now??

I would Highly Recommend not seeing Dr Connelly unless you want to second guess everything you know. I have a long history of back pain that was fixed by surgery 3 years ago but has been terrible this past year,. Injections have helped but seeing him the first time he pretended to listen to only turn around and say that Im not producing enough serotonin and need to practice mindfullness and depression medication and that my brain is telling me Im in pain and that Im not really having pain. I didnt say anything about having any stress in my life! Weird enough when Im having a bad day I have alot of swelling around my surgical site. I dont believe that is due to low Seratonin levels! Seems nice enough but I didnt say anything to disagree at the time! Will not be going back

I was horrified to hear my husband's account of his visit with "Doctor" Connelly. The man's eyes were oddly glazed over. My husband has degenerative disc disease, disc herniation, spinal stenosis, arthritis, and has had a failed back surgery. This poor excuse for a doctor told him it was all in his head, that he had pain because he's a smoker, and that it was a muscular problem only. My husband has had dozens of MRI reports that show it is not merely a muscular condition. Yes, he smokes and that can exacerbate his pain but it is not a psychological problem causing his pain. It is not just muscle pain. Several doctors, including a surgeon at the same practice, diagnosed his pain as nerve- and disc-related. I would advise others not to visit this man. It was a waste of his time and insulting to someone who has had back problems due to spinal problems dating back to his teenage years. This man looked at his pain and made a few crackpot assumptions. He is not fit to practice medicine.

This is the most unprofessional rude office I have ever dealt with. Nina the admin does not return phone calls and is rude when you are forced to follow up with her to be sure your medical needs are being met. There appears to be no one else to speak with to report her to.

I had my visit Connolly today. He is a neurologist he is not a "pain management "person in the term of pain management. He does "not" cover my medications as well as injections.. His "chosen Therapy" is injections. I explain to my insurance that he was a neurologist from New England neurology. And I'm not sure why they even had him covered under a pain management. So I don't know why they're sending people to him for that. Maybe they'll correct it and then they won't be problems or confusion as to what he really does. I did not enjoy my visit. I personally feel that Dr. Connelly was very thorough & compassionate. He listened to my issues & felt that an MRI on my neck was necessary to find out the reasoning for my pain. Something that my previous doctor refused to do because he thought I was lying about my pain. I have a herniated disk in my neck that is pressing against my spine & seeing a chiropractor didnt help nor did neurontin or muscle relaxers. A year of many medical visits and being brushed off, having to be my own health advocate, Dr. Connelly was the first specialist to make me feel like I wasn’t putting him out to do his job. He didn’t try to rush me out the door. He took the time to actually look at each of my MRI’s and answer all my questions without making me feel like I was holding him up. He actually did a thorough physical exam and took the time to explain everything to me. Very grateful and feeling hopeful for a change.

I have read all the reviews on here... but I had a very good experience with Dr. Connelly. I went to NEN after I had a bad fall in my back yard. He was very attentive to my symptoms and fought for me with my insurance company so that I can get the right diagnostic tests. He spent time with me to understand what I was experiencing and to suggest the right solution. He was also attentive to the emotional side. He has been great so far!!

The rudest medical professional I have ever encountered. This man should be ashamed of himself. I was diagnosed with an L1 compression fracture. My PCP recommended Dr. Connelly. On my first visit, Dr. Connelly ordered an MRI. The results showed that I actually had 3 fractures. I was in terrible pain. Dr. Connelly recommended a Kyphoplasty. The idea of anyone working on my spine was frightening. Dr. Connelly talked me through my fear. I hobbled into Northeast Rehab at the end of May. Dr. Connelly performed the Kyphoplasty, and the excruciating pain was gone when I left Northeast Rehab 3 hours later. Dr. Connelly is amazing. Wondering how come everytime I leave a review it’ never appears? Yet I see all these good reviews? I’m disgusted noones looked into this mans way of practicing he neglects abuses and bullies his patients

Horrible. One star is generous. Anything above a 1 star is most likely from a fake patient. You are shameless. If you are considering this doctor just go for an unnessary colonoscopy instead.

Last straw was when my mom was scheduled for an appointment and I had to call and cancel that morning because she had to be rushed to the hospital the previous night due to her COPD and was being kept. When she was released, she needed a refill on her script and called his office to get one. She was told he doesn't write scripts for people who don't keep appointments. When we showed up to his office he did nothing but scream at her about how irresponsible she was. Please BEWARE

After reading previous posts, I was very nervous about seeing Dr. Connelly. However, he was professional & compassionate. He helped to treat my acute back pain due to a lumbar disc herniation. I think people who posted negative reviews could potentially have substance abuse issues, and they weren't happy about the doctor's refusals to administer more meds. I hope my back issue resolves without further intervention, but if it doesn't, I am happy to return to Dr. Connelly's office.

I was referred to NE Neurological for severe back problems and had to see Michael Connelly. He is arrogant, condescending, and downright abusive. I will never go near this "supposed" doctor again!

My experience with Dr. Connelly was the worst that I have ever had with any doctor. After talking with his PA about my pain history, he came in the room, refused to shake my hand, and began a rant about how is not going to help me in any way because I was an opiod addict. He made accusations that were not true and when I got angry with him, he walked out of the room and threatened to call the police on me. The sad thing is, I never asked him or is PA to prescribe anything for me. Stay away!

Dr. Connelly did not show for the appointment that we had last month. This month, today, he shows late, talks about having limited time, loses track of asking me about the medication, says he wants only to talk about pain and that he will bring up medication later, grills me like I am a murder suspect, then walks out saying for me to get another doctor. So I suggest to everyone else, not kidding: Get another doctor. He is as bad as it gets.

I had the worst experience possible....After pouring my heart out to the P.A. He came in the exam room with her and called me a liar amongst other things, when in fact either he or his helper misread or misunderstood what I said but didn't take a minute to look at the paperwork .... I used to have so much respect for doctors and such but after some of the experiences I have had since my health problems started its pathetic... I wish some of these doctors would remember the oath they took...

Has the bedside manner of a serial killer. Doesn't listen to what you have to say about your pain. Total waste of my time. I went there for advice on MANAGING my pain and was constantly treated like a junkie and I told him numerous times that I didn't want narcotics. NE Neurological has some extremely talented and brilliant doctors and they should be embarrassed to have this doctor on their team!

He spent about ten minutes with us. Asked maybe one question, then proceeded to tell us that the patient's pain was due to a mood disorder. I understand that mood can play an important role in pain, but he made it sound like that was the only factor. He was extremely arrogant and didn't even suggest increasing medication which is a pretty obvious suggestion in this instance. He also didn't file a report for workman's comp. Complete jerk and borderline incompetent.
