I saw Dr. Braxton for a severe disc rupture and he was truly a wonderful physician. After a horrific experience trying to complete 6 weeks of PT to get an MRI he was willing to do a peer-to-peer with insurance to get me the MRI without it, believing how much pain I was in (rather than dismissing me as a 26-year-old woman being weak or dramatic). I'm so thankful to this day for the weeks of severe pain he saved me from in order to get the MRI and into a neurosurgeon quickly. Very thankful he was my physiatrist.
Call to make an appointment after the floor collapsed with me in it. 3 weeks after the incident & 2 weeks after the referral just to tell me that they are booked up until August! I cannot even walk without assistance & this is how a referred patient is treated?!? Where is the healthCARE?

I have a STEEL BB in my lung and finger which makes me unable to receive an MRI. I developed sharp radiating pain in my lower back while on vacation and was hospitalized for 5 days — nothing was definitively diagnosed, and I was given a referral to Dr. Braxton upon my return to Louisiana four a follow up care. As the alternatives to MRI are few and far between, are you Myla Graham was scheduled (this is what I have been begging for since I first learned of this procedure). Being already in pain, a 29-year-old who is forced to walk around with a back brace and cane, I had to wait almost 2 weeks for the Myla Graham to be done. Unfortunately, I was told to make sure I have a ride there and back for the procedure, and could not find one so I had to pay for an Uber. Once I got to the hospital out the Uber, they informed me that the scan was not paid for (not approved by my insurance due to an error in my prior authorization request). I was told I had to wait another week and a half to get the new one done, and that in the meantime they would file for another authorization. And then was called by the same clerk I messed up the first time and told that after Dr. Braxton (went out of his way to speak with the physician for a peer to peer review, again demonstrating the high quality care and compassion this gentleman has for his patients) told her that I needed to do six weeks of stretching in order to get it approved. I subsequently told her during my hospital stay I was discharged with the required stretching regimen, and by this point been more than six weeks (which was the requirement for the request to be approved) that I would be contacted after the procedure was approved by the nurse at Dr. Braxton’s office. Seven days prior to the test, I had not received a phone call so I called in. No one answered, left a voicemail, and did this again several days later. Friday (three days before the Miley was supposed to be done) I was then told by the nurse there that she didn’t remember my question but that she called me to figure out what I wanted to know… And then told her the situation and asked why it was not done. She said that she would find the notation from my medical chart and forward that to Dr. Braxton. I made sure she was aware again, as politely as possible, that this procedure was only in a few days and that their office closed in less than two hours… That I would really appreciate it if she could be on my team here and help me get this situated so that way I can figure out what’s going on with my back. Instead she gets confused, enhance the phone over to another nurse who decides to be rate me, refuse to answer my questions, and belittles me on the phone subsequently telling me that my care was no good there, or I could get physical therapy done under his care and then we could start this over… I asked her simply why are you treating me like this? I have done nothing but try and get this worked out with you guys collaborative possible, she then continue to be right me and then refused to answerAnymore questions and hung up the phone on me. Absolutely despicable, disgusting, and horrible behavior. I hope that anyone reading this can understand,When you are in pain, and incompetence and downright rude behavior is the ROOT cause of delay for an accurate diagnosis & treatment.... it feels like betrayal. The worst part about this, Dr. Braxton is a very well articulated, intelligent, empathetic, and personable physician. That it’s unfortunate that the RUDE, INCONSIDERATE, and INCOMPETENT nurses I’ve had the unfortunate experience with will be that indelible stain on his white coat; until these nurses are replaced(or far removed from customer interactions), I wish his practice all the better. *followup 1 month later: Not a single person reached out to me about this.
