Dr. Michael J Belmont

This Doctor is very tactful and skilled, this only comes from many years of experience. He’s very patient, and thankfully handled my daughters condition very well. I am thankful ETCH has doctors of this caliber.

After heart surgery for CHD, we found out our baby had a tongue tie as well. My husband and I were so nervous to put the baby through another procedure but Dr.Belmont was incredibly patient and kind to us. He explained everything and definitely let us make the final decision. The procedure was so quick and he was so gentle with our boy. We are so thankful for a quick and easy procedure with a doctor we genuinely trusted.

Dr. Belmont is a skilled and compassionate ENT that has an EXCELLENT bedside manner with his patients, kids and parents alike. His office staff is courteous and we have never had to wait very long to see him. He does an excellent job explaining symptoms and procedures, and he always takes time in the room, and you never feel rushed. One of my daughters has been under Dr. Belmont's care for the past 4 years. He has walked us through tubes, mild hearing loss (requiring hearing aids), removing tonsils & adenoids, and one additional surgery. He has a good bedside manner, excellent attention to details, and takes the time to explain things so that the parent can understand. He is one of our favorite doctors! Our son is a patient of Dr. Belmont and has been since he was born. He has had tubes put in by Dr. Belmont three times now (that is not uncommon for a child with Down syndrome). Dr. Belmont has always given our son the best bedside manner, been honest with us and really cares about our family and his other patients.

Dr.Belmont has cared for both of my children with care and gentleness. I’ve been pleased with his office staff as well. He takes his time in the office and answers all your questions with understanding and patience.

After moving to Greeneville, TN, 4 years ago and discovering my daughter had serious hearing issues and needed her ear drums completly reconstructed we were VERY concerned about living in such a small community and our options. Going to see Dr. Belmont at Children's Hospital in Knoxville and making that drive for the last 4 years was the best decision we ever made. After two successful surgeries, and many doctor visits, my daughter can hear in both ears and now enjoy her swimming pool - like a normal 12 year old. Dr. Belmont's professionalism is second to none, his primary nurse is a true blessing and a credit to him and his office. He does not rush you, he listens and he follows through. I only wish all medical professionals were the same. Thank you, thank you, and thank you for helping our daughter.

He personally discharged my son from his practice after we missed an appointment during the COVID-19 shut down. I had many doctor’s offices calling and canceling appointments and asking me to reschedule in June/July unless it was necessary for them to be seen in person. I had them written down as an appointment that needed to be rescheduled. So I called today to reschedule, and he absolutely refused to see him and did not care about the excuse. So needless to say we will not be using Belmont or his practice again over a ridiculous issue. This guy is an absolute quack. His other doctors referred us to him. We get here and he sends my daughter home without doing anything. He glanced in her ear for all of 3 seconds and said nothing was wrong. No tests, no nothing. Says to watch it for a month. So I'm supposed to sit and wait and watch my kid in pain , ibuprofen not working, not being able to focus in class. He literally said " then just tough through it. I would not even give 1 star but it makes me. He is the rudest money hungry doctor I have ever saw. I usually take my daughter to Dr Brown in Farragut who is great by the way if anybody is looking for an ENT but I had took her Here because the orthodontist I use works with them and I thought it would be easier to see him for the sinus and airway issues the orthodontist found. I had originally saw him over a year ago and he wanted to do surgery but I had been told by 2 other ENTs not to do it because it wouldn’t work. He says “Well what does Dr Brown know?” I said well I was afraid to have it down this soon and he says “well here you are back here seeing me again for the same problem (which was not even why I was there in the first place) Are you just gonna let her walk around all her life not being able to hear?” Then has the nerve to look at my 9 ear old and says “it would be nice if you could hear wouldn’t it?” She didn’t know what to say. And also I wasn’t even there for her ear problems. I was there because of something the orthodontist found in her sinuses. He was very rude and cocky and not friendly at all to my daughter. Very short with me because he was mad that I didn’t let him operate on my daughter over a year ago. All he wants is money. Very nice and friendly about everything when he thought he was gonna make a bunch of money but today when I saw him he was a whole different person. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Dr. Belmont is an great doctor. Both of my children have seen him and he's extremely knowledgeable and caring. I'm not sure about these negative comments, probably people who are never pleased with anyone.

My son has been seeing Dr. Belmont sense he was in 7th grade @12 and now he is fixing to turn 16, he went in with a fail hearing test at his check up and Dr. Belmont had found he had a cholesteatoma and he is also a hemophiliac which means his blood does not clot properly, Dr Belmont was so kind and thorough with everything we have had to encounter with the whole process and he has had 3 ear surgeries to try to fix his ear back, and I couldn’t have asked for a better Dr to take care of my son, Thank you so much Dr. Belmont for all that you have done for Matthew! Would highly recommend him for all you ear problems. Both of my children have been going to Dr. Belmont. He has always listened to me. His approach to my children have always been wonderful! I would definitely recommend him to anyone I know.

Did not follow "standard of care" practice for my son's cholesteatoma by waiting until second look surgery to implant prosthesis. Regrowth of cholesteatoma required removing prosthesis placed during first surgery which caused rejection of prosthesis replaced during second surgery and profound hearing loss. Fortunately there are world class pediatric otolaryngologists at Vanderbilt for those of us that can afford them to repair the damage caused by doctors like Michael Belmont who do what's best for them instead of what's best for the patient. Did an amazing job with my brother's ear surgery!

My son had a T and A in Oct 2017. He had his first bleed a week later and we had to rush him to the hospital. NO ONE from Dr. Belmont's office came to check on him and he was sent home the next day. A few days later, my son woke up w/a bloody nose so I called Dr. Belmont and was told he was fine. That night, another terrible bleed and he was rushed to the hospital again. Had to have emergency surgery in the middle of the night. Dr. Belmont acted as if this were no bid deal. TERRIBLE!!!

During our first visit he was charming but he quickly changed. He appears irritated with answering questions from apprehensive parents.

So great with kids on a personal level

Dr. Belmont is a WONDERFUL doctor! My child is quite shy but she warmed up to his kindness very quickly. He explains everything very thoroughly and doesn't rush through the appointment.

My 9 year old son loves Dr. Belmont. We had a bad experience in Johnson city with multiple failed Surgeries to repair a small hole in his left ear drum. Dr. Belmont had to do a major surgery to fix the issue and it went PERFECT! We have gone back for many follow ups and everyone there has been amazing! Trust this: This group is 10 times the ENT is in Johnson City TN.

Everyone has always been so friendly! We have been going to this practice for almost 3 1/2 years and I am so grateful that our pediatrician referred us here. Rude to my 9 year old asking my son to lie on his back, but my son turned on his side and Dr. Belmont stated Geez it doesnt take rocket scientist. When dealing with children and the unknown length of time of factors contributing to medical issues of hearing..rudeness is not tolerable by my family. Also explaining our past medical history to him he abruptly cut wife off and stated we dont do that here.

I had confidence in Dr. Belmont's knowledge of his discipline, he recommended that we take my daughter's tonsils out due to size, even though she had never had a sore throat or strep throat. The main reason we went to see him was for four ear infections in under 6 months. He was very conservative in his approach, and gave me his professional opinion and his opinion as a parent. The surgery was very quick and successful. Would definitely recommend him to others.

My daughter saw Dr Belmont for years. He is the rare doctor these days who listens to what you tell him and doesn't seem to be in a rush for the next patient. Yet I've never had long waits.
