Melvin W. Coats

Dr. Coats is amazing! Works in his practice and as a hospitalist, he is one of the very few doctors to do this. In the 26 years of being his patient, I can say that the previous review of him always going on vacation or leaving the office for weeks is such a lie. In fact, he is just the opposite! I have always been able to schedule an appointment within a reasonable time. He doesn't stare at the computer like other doctors, he has one of the best bed side manners and treats you like a VIP human

Dr. Coats is the best. While my husband was in th hospital (PIH) Dr. Coats seemed to come and check on him 7 days a week for 2 weeks. He really put special care in my husband and kept us informed of everything we needed to know. He is a great doctor and would recommend him to everyone.

Absolutely neglected my mother. He constantly went on vacation or left the office for weeks at a time. He flat out ignored my mother's disability paperwork he needed to fill out, resulting in her losing her home and living in her car. When informed of his mistake he took no responsibility. His staff lie to patients just to get them off the phone saying "We will call you right back." Or "We'll tell the doctor right away." And they never do.

Dr. Coats, our family Dr. for over 25 years. We have followed through many office changes. He is friendly, caring, kind and compassionate. His nurse is the same. However, the current clerical staff are incompetent and unprofessional. Obtaining prescriptions, authorizations, etc...is a nightmare & our pharmacy, therapists and other Dr's offices are now too familiar with. Our 27 yr old son is extremely ill (degenerative disorder) and this treatment is no longer acceptable.
