About Mehraneh Dorna Jafari
Reviews for Mehraneh Dorna Jafari
While the wait was a bit long, it was worth it when I met Dr Jafari and her PA, who were reassuring, kind, and discussed my concerns. Her staff is also really nice.
Dr. Jafari performed surgery on me using advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques. I had put off dealing with my issue for years due to fear of having surgery and its potential consequences. After meeting with Dr. Jafari to address my issue, I was extremely impressed with her confidence and expertise in addressing my problem. Her whole surgical team made me realize I had nothing to worry about. After the surgery, I had almost no discomfort and only a few small incisions sealed with glue, and was home the next day resuming my normal activities. I would strongly recommend her to anyone needing gastrointestinal surgery. In my book she gets 12 thumbs up, and I feel so blessed and grateful to have been Dr. Jafari's patient and have her care for me. She definitely knows her stuff!
I was referred to her by my GI. She is terribly rude and a bad surgeon. I had complication after complication with her. I would not recommend her.
Excellent surgeon
Great care
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS DR TO ANYONE - SHE IS HOMOPHOBIC, EXTREMELY RUDE, ARROGANT, AND EGOTISTICAL! SHE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE PATIENTS WHO HAVE WAITED TO SEE HER! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I had several complications with this surgeon, along with poor communication from her and her team. Poor bedside manners. I would not recommend her. I agree with the other poster about some of the "good" reviews not being legit.
I highly recommend Dr. Jafari. She is smart and fun and I felt well cared for at Douglas Hospital. Everyone was terrific. My night nurse, Rene, was the best!!!
Dr Jafari is amazing! Had my first of 3 step J pouch surgery 12/2020 after suffering for too long with severe pancolitis. Surgery & recovery went great, and my hospital stay was delightful with the UCI team. So grateful for Dr Jafari for saving my quality of life
great bedside manners, always listens. As a a 40 yr mother, i was told i was going to die of cancer. She saw me right away, explained over an hour what the plan was, got me to see the best oncologist, and i am now cured of cancer. Other surgeons told me i had no chance! She gave me hope where there was none.
I have a lot of trouble believing the last two recent reviews are from real patients. Instead, they may be the work of the marketing department at the University of California, Irvine - or even the doctor herself! This doctor may be a bit unaware of how she comes across. She operated on my husband with Crohn's disease. From the very first office visit we got a bad vibe from her but decided to proceed anyways because we were at a top University. We should have read the reviews on here & elsewhere because they are certainly true! She is not empathetic. She does not explain the procedures clearly. We got the feeling that she was hiding a lot of information from us, and when my husband suffered a complication, although it was minor, she did not seem to care and did not take any responsibility. She carries herself as if she has been a top surgeon for 30 yrs but she graduated from training only four years ago or so. She should take a big bite out of humble pie! I would avoid UCI colorectal!
I had a very large tumor on my apendix and cancer in colon. I am a high level athlete and very active. My surgery was complicated and extensive. Dr Jafari Is so confident in what she's doing it put me at total ease. Being around professional and Olympic level athletes you know confident people when you meet them. She saved my life and I will be active and back to normal again soon because of her. She did not flinch or question her approach to things or waiver in her decision making. And after it was done she was emphatically certain she got it all and surgery was a success. I very much appreciated her assurances. Her staff and all of the UCI people around her caring for me were amazing and loving. I will be forever grateful to them. Praise God for people so talented and blessed in this world.
Dr. Jafari operated on me, and it was a raging success. What I look for in a surgeon is skills and demonstrated results above all else. And for this, Dr. Jafari is a recognized leader in her field. After that, I want a surgeon who will tell it to me like it is. Again, Dr. Jafari excels at this. Better yet, she has been reliably communicative and supportive throughout the process. What else can one ask for? Highly, highly recommended.
Pretty condescending. Office staff was nice and I was able to get a visit quickly but the doctor is abrasive and rude.
Her office visit was nice but in the hospital after my surgery she seemed very abrasive. I did not feel like I was taken care of with her. I will try to avoid UCI in the future.
Being a Gastro RN and knowing what was to come, and choosing the right surgeon and team was truly nerve racking. However, when I first met Dr. Jafari, in my opinion, I knew she would be the doctor for me. I appreciated her honesty and forthrightness. I had a rough road in the hospital, but yet she and her team were amazing. Dr. Jafari put me at ease through a tough time, and coming from a nurse, I felt comforted. She is highly skilled and would trust her implicitly with my family, and with any other surgeries. Thank you Dr. Jafari for your excellent care. I couldn’t have asked for a better surgeon and team.
I have Crohn's disease and needed a good surgeon. Do not go to UCI!! She is a terrible surgeon and RUDE!
Dr. Jafari gave me my life back. I am 14 months post surgery (total colectomy, ileostomy) and I am grateful and thankful for each and every day. She was kind, caring and supportive.
The review from Sept 14th, 2018 could be exactly how I feel as well. Especially the last sentence, ‘ horrible experience that shook my trust in UCI. Avoid If Possible.’ Having Crohns is bad enough. Your colorectal surgeon is just as important if not more than the GI you choose. I’m only writing this because I want To help other Crohns patients in making the right decision. Please get a 2nd opinion if you go to her. I’ve had the worst experience of my life with her
The glowing newer reviews all within a couple days are obviously from her. She is a horrible surgeon. Her bedside manner is horrible. She is rude to nurses and students. Of course she will treat her patients poorly. Avoid at all costs. Dont go to UCI if they have doctors like her.
Awesome surgeon. Wonderful bedside manner. Truly cares!
Amazing Dr. ! I am very appreciative for all she has done to help me overcome my health issue. I am glad I was referred to her . I definitely recommend her . Very kind and caring. She is an amazing Doctor and surgeon!! Great bed side manor, punctual and professional!
Most professional, caring and such a great physician. I trust her clinical decisions. An absolute delight...professionalism and bed side manner is superb.
Poor bedside manner. Rude. Doesn't listen to the patient or discuss anything before just opting for surgery. Little explanation and absolutely the minimum of personal care. An absolutely horrible experience that shook my trust in UCI. Avoid If Possible.
Poor bedside manner and poor communication. Very arupt. Doesn't say hello . Doesn't tell you anything and after 5 minute visit and walks right out with communicating anything. Needs to work on communication skills and patient care.
