I would like to express my eternal gratitude to Dr. Max Medary, whom I highly recommend for his magnificent expertise, professionalism, and human quality. He has operated on me on two occasions for different reasons with absolute success, I have recovered my quality of life thanks to GOD in the first place and secondly thanks to his hands, for which I prayed to the LORD to continue blessing them so that he continues helping and saving many other patients. 16 years ago I met Dr. Medary due to my back to back seizure episodes. I had little hope within me with limited knowledge about my condition. I thought I was never going to be able to do things as I used to without having to worry about when the next episode was going to happen. Dr. Medary not only explained to me in details what my condition was, but also gave me hope, and offered me a solution when I thought there wasn’t going to be any. Fast forward 16 years and I got the pleasure to see him a few days ago again, but this time for him to check on my Mri from my lower back which btw he went over thoroughly. I also couldn’t wait to shake his hand and let him know how grateful I have been throughout these years. Craniotomy was the term for the brain surgery he operated on me and as a result I have been seizure free ever since. I have been able to do all the simple yet important things like driving, swimming or simply not having to worry about being by myself at times all and all because of this man. Dr. Medary is an excellent doctor. I researched neurosurgeons in the Orlando area for the last four years and finally decided to go with Dr. Medary. He is straight to the point. He is not going to tell what you want to hear. He will tell you what really is going on with your situation and provide options. Not a surgery for money doctor. He is meticulous in his approach and very effective in the results. My pain is gone after my ACDF surgery. No complaints here. If you can’t handle the truth don’t go see him. He is a very straight forward doctor. I highly recommend him and trust him with any other need.

I have two herniated discs for 2 years. For the second time I went to see this doctor since the treatment he sent me did not improve me (pills and stretching therapies), his response was to tell me that I had to change jobs and live with it, because he had nothing to do and that it could not be operated either because my affection is very slight. he treated me with a lot of arrogance, and he just repeated: do you understand or not? now seeing other doctors there are many more alternatives which this Dr did not offer me, HIS consultations are expensive! I had a wonderful experience at dr. Medary's office. Everyone was very nice and helpful from the first time I called and made my appointment. I have been struggling with sciatica pain from a herniated disc for several months. I tried all of the different non surgery options, including nerve pain medicine, chiropractor, epidural injections ....etc Finally, my orthopedist suggested I go see Dr. Medary since himself had a same surgery with dr Medary. I called on Monday and was able to see him on Friday that week. He was very nice and explained the surgery in detail. I was in a lot of pain when I saw him and he was able to do the microdiscectomy the very next Thursday. The hospital visit was great too. Everyone was very nice and helpful and I was in and out of the hospital in 5 hours. Everything went great and I immediately felt much better besides having some soreness in my back where the incision was made. I just had mine 2 follow up and everything looks great. I never write reviews, but this time I have to after having such a positive outcome, because I can help someone. I had a herniated disc and have been suffering from back pain for at least 10 years Had surgery with Max Medary 6 weeks ago, and since day one after surgery had no pain in my leg As I read on other reviews, he is a straight shooter and tells you exactly what to expect, but that is very good. The first 6 days of recovery are very difficult, the back was swollen, and it was very, very uncomfortable But after that, the recovery was very quick and easy! I felt very supported all along my back journey by Dr Medary, he called me several times after surgery to see how I was doing, and even once when I was concerned my scar was red, he prescribed me antibiotic and he drained the incision immediately that same day If you are having back problems, He is a great doctor!!!!! Dr. Medary is nothing short of a genius. I had a procedure done in January. A minor back surgery . When I went to him I was in so much pain - I could not walk or stand without sciatic pains shooting down my left leg - it wasn’t a come and go pain , but constant . It was horrible - I seen Dr . Medary he looked at my MRI and after a short discussion of what I have already tried to rectify my situation , he explained to me in detail the procedure he would perform - he asked me several times if I understood to ensure that I understood what was being done - and then - the procedure - I did not have to miss work - ( I work from home) now - about a week later I was vacuuming my floors and doing some cleaning- and I started to feel the pain - I went in for my follow up - I told him I was feeling the pain - he advised me I over did it - I should be taking it easy for at least another week or 2 - I was a little upset as I thought I was not “fixed “ but I took his advice and took it easy for another week and sure enough - pain was gone and has not returned! After God he dr Medary is the best . My husband had the first procedure with him and everything went well. Then my husband got into an accident and one of the screws broke after went to another doctors dueto insurance issues and scary advise we went again to his office. With a smile and professional advice my husband went to another procedure that took him 30 minutes to fix. Once again after God dr Medary did it again. Dr. Madery is a good dude, period. I had crippling back pain for many years. Turns out my vertebrae was snapped. He fixed it with surgery, which I was trepidations about. He was available in the aftermath of the procedure and now 4 months later, I couldn’t sing his praises any louder. Great job Doc.

I’m a little late writing my review, as I normally don’t leave reviews. I suffered kyphosis without knowing for many years that stemmed from a car wreck. I had herniated my disc and was seeking a neurologist to do my surgery. I met with three before making my decision to go with Max. He is very straightforward and doesn’t waste his time, or mine. Also very practical. I had a two tier fusion done with him, at the age of 27. I’m a year out and have had no issues with my surgery. My pain stemmed down my shoulder and I was losing grip in my left arm. I remember waking up from surgery and feeling instant relief from my pain. Had à laminectomy done when I really needed a hip replacement When I mentioned that the surgery did nothing to improve my condition I was dismissed and told to have a good life and all I needed was to walk to get better and so I did for the next 3 months walking bone on bone with a lot of pain.I finally went to another doctor who did the hip replacement and I’ve been walking fine afterwards.On my first visit I did have both a hip and back mri but I guess only the back was looked at. The hip surgery was so easy after what I was put through unnecessarily.Get a second opinion.

My initial contact with staff was pleasant although while I was waiting in the exam room I listened to a con he was having with his nurse as they laughed at a patient calling with a cervical headache n pain after surgery. I thought we’ll, this is going to be pointless bc I judge the whole office and how they function together to be effective. He comes in room. His arrogance starts to shine when he is saved by a call n his cell phone: he immediately becomes nervous, can’t complete a sentence, was talking about meeting up somewhere on Saturday with the person on the other line to um “you know, um, meet my girlfriend.” I thought” This man is buying recreational drugs”. I’m convinced of it. Offered a M-C6 cervical disc replacement that had been recalled in several other countries. UNBELIEVABLE, but yet it happed December 2021.

I love that this guy is a straight shooter and you know what he thinks when you see him. I went in on a Friday and he scheduled me for Surgery on Thursday less than a week later because he knew how much pain I was in just laying there on his chairs. I had a herniated disk on L5 - S1 and he went over the MRI with me and said that microdiscectomy will be the best way to fix this and right after surgery I would feel better right away. He can be sarcastic, but I am too so I really enjoyed talking with him. He doesn’t baby you or hold your hand….like I said a straight shooter, but honestly I like that out of a doctor. Just tell me how it is no sugar coat needed. If I need to be pampered I can go to a massage parlor. He is very knowledgeable and everything he said would happen has happened so far. I am on day 4 of recovery and he even called to check on me at day 2 which I was not expecting. No issues with the staff or doctor at all and they really rushed me in to take care of me asap. Excellent care from Doctor Madary and staff. The staff are helpful, courteous and professional. Dr Madary addressed my husband's problem with clear explanations and treatment. He answered all of our questions directly without sugar coating it. He didn't pump us for return visits. Highly recommend!!!!

Dr. Medary might be blunt, and he is a bit sarcastic of which I think sometimes comical. He made me laugh. He is precise, concise, and thorough in his evaluations. I thoroughly trust that I have a superior surgeon!

I recently had cervical spine surgery by Orlando neurosurgeon Dr. Medary who was recommended to me by my brother Dr. Augustine Joseph who is a neurologist in Orlando and my wife Dr. Mary Joseph who is a Family Practitioner, both of whom had previously referred their patients to Dr. Medary with good results. Despite these trusted referrals and being friends and doctor colleagues with him for many years, I wanted to make sure I am in good hands from a clinical and skill standpoint. Therefore I also checked with some doctor and nurse friends at Dr. Phillips Hospital (where I and Dr. Medary practice), all of whom had only positive impressions about the competence and skills of Dr. Medary. The surgery was one hour vs the other doctor that made it seem like it was the end of the world. I am so, so very grateful for Dr Medary giving me back my life. I had an L 5 disc that had protruded into S1 and a piece was fractured pressing onto my Sciatic nerve... nerve pain is a game changer. After 6 weeks of this severe discomfort, I was directed to Dr. Medary. Was seen on a Friday and 4 days later in surgery to remove the fracture. Being in the fitness business, my pain prevented me from being of service to others and living my life. My surgery was a success and I am back to doing what I do best! Dr Medary operated on my lower back to relieve extreme pain and numbness caused by spinal stenosis. Prior to surgery i could not walk without pain and stopping every few steps. I was leaning so the pain would not be so severe. Now, after 6 months I have zero pain, can play golf and exercise. with zero pain.

Unbelievably great, he treated a golf friend of mine successfully. After his successful outcome I finally decided after 4 years and other tried remedies including shots, I found almost instant relief. Still have a ways to go, but current results are amazing. I would highly recommend Dr Medary to anyone who is suffering with lower back pain. I suffered for years with lower back and hip pain, going to different doctors and undergoing several treatments. Finally I was referred to Dr Medary, he listened to my complaint and then explained to me how he could help me. I had surgery in October 2020. Dr. Medary performed a procedure on my lower back and completely removed the pain on my sciatic nerve. Never felt better and my thanks to him and his staff.

I Had a terrible experience. The reviews that say he takes his time are BS. He flips through your MRI very quickly, doesn't explain things. I have yet to receive my MRI disc back. Save yourself the aggravation find someone better and that has a staff that's not as hinky.

Dr. Medary has alleviated my terrible 5-month morning left leg pain by a simple surgery at my back ( L4&L5 ) in Dr Phillips hospital where I was discharged just a couple hours later. Was referred to Dr. Medary by my primary after herniating a disc at C5-C6. Dr. Medary was very straight forward and direct (a little cocky? something I know some people don't like, but I had no problem). He explained my options clearly, and allowed me to make the decision about my treatment rather than pushing me one direction. Decided to go for the ACDF surgery, and he was able to fit me in before leaving on vacation for 10 days (thank you Miranda, the surgical coordiantor, for working with my insurance to get this approved so fast!). Dr. Medary was very patient, and ask all the right questions. After looking for two years for a doctor that would do a non-evasive procedure to release my back pain. Dr Medary was recommended to me. I’m in my seventies, had four major surgeries on my back, that worked for a short time , and then the breathtaking pain would come back. I will always have some pain , but he was able to take away the breathtaking pain. I’m able to return to my gardening, do my everyday routine with out the breathtaking pain. Thank you Dr. Medary

I expected Dr. Medary to be "matter of fact" and abrupt because friends had warned me of his demeanor. I have no problem with doctors being direct and truthful. HOWEVER, no patient should feel disrespected or be spoken to in a condescending manner. He was rude and sarcastic when answering my questions. I wonder how he would have behaved had he been able to perform surgery on me and therefore receive a hefty fee. He may be a very competent surgeon, but he does not exhibit the qualities of kindness and empathy. Is that asking too much? I think not.

Very rude and dishonoring. told me he doesn't know why I was there, there was nothing wrong with me. He made me feel very bad. You look to doctors to provide care, and education in a compassionate way, he did not provide that to me. Would not recommend to anyone.

I drove 2.5 hours to this highly recommended professional doctor that made me wait 1.5 hours in his waiting room then was so rude to me that I was in tears and walked out....I had a previous fusion and fell and injured myself which resulted in a double adjacent level failure....he called me a problem now and insulted me . Without reviewing my history he told me I should have never had the surgery done in the first place, and now I am nothing but a problem to him. After 3 months of intense medical examinations I was referred to Dr. Medary to review my MRI. I of course was nervous as I heard his bed side manner was not the best however, what I encountered was HORRIBLE! Dr. Medary said “quite frankly I don’t know why you’re here because your MRI is normal”. I tried to share with him my medical history so he could understand why I was there in the first place. Dr. Medary had no interest as to why I was there and chuckled to himself quite a few times. I shared with him the symptoms I was having and his response was “So, now you’re using me as normal Dr.....I’m a brain surgeon” I was simply looking for recommendations for next steps after learning my MRI was normal. Great doctor! Dr Medary has a great personality. I love that he is very blunt about prognosis and ways to solve the problem. It was refreshing to see doctor who truly understood my RA and the pain I was feeling. He answered all of my questions. I could tell he genuinely cared about my situation and getting me pain free. I called Dr. Madery’s office & was given an appointment within a week. I had been diagnosed with spinal stenosis & injections, etc did not give me relief for any length of time. Office was fairly busy but i was checked in quickly by office staff & after a very short wait, I was shown to an examination room. Dr. Madery came in shortly thereafter. I found Dr. Madery to be personable & easy to talk to. He took the time to go over my MRI with me & gave me his evaluation, answered any & all questions that I had. After our discussion, he scheduled me for surgery within two weeks. I had been in considerable pain for quite a while prior to surgery. Post surgery, I could tell an immediate difference. It has been three months since my back surgery & I continue to be pain free. I highly recommend Dr. Madery to anyone with back issues. Dr. Medary performed surgery on me 18 years ago. The only thing it did for me was to make matters worst. I ended up on disability for 6 years trying to recover from his chop job of a surgery he talked me into. When I complained of continuing pain and loss of function he told me to stop being a baby and get out of the wheel chair. I agree with everyone that states that he is condesending, arrogent and has a "God complex". That's to say the least. I would never recommed him to anyone! If I could give him no stars I would!

Dr. Medary gave me my life back as a result of his surgery to remedy my L4-5 disc hernation. I am a competitive ballroom dancer and as a result of his surgery, I was able to win a national championship in American Rhythm for Senior IV Adults (dancers in their 60's.) To me, Dr. Medary is a miracle worker. Before surgery I couldn't walk without pain. I am totally pain free now and stronger than I have been since my 20's. I am forever in his debt, forever.

Dr medary was referred to us by my family primary dr for treatment of a MRI that showed a tumor in my brain. He was very serious and said he would take care of me. He scheduled surgery right away on tuesday. The tumor was found to be glioblastoma grade 4. His attention to me and my family since surgery has been warm and caring and very professional. If the glioblastoma returns I would not hesitate to use him again with out question. AND we were self pay so we could choose any dr.

Dr Medary is one of the best. He recently performed a surgery to take out a larger than golf ball size pituitary tumor and I couldn't be happier. He had explained me the best case scenario as well as the possible risks very clearly and I walked out of the hospital with the best case scenario results. I personally know quite a few doctors in the area and he was recommended by them too and now I know why.

I am a retired physician referred to this doctor by my spouse who is a practicing physician. I totally wasted my time. I agree with the patient that said he was arrogant. First visit went fine. My daughter was with me and is a personal friend of his through her husband also a local Dr. He asked me to get 2 x-rays. I got the x-rays but right at that time my daughter passed away very suddenly. By the time I could pull myself together to continue with life I made a follow up app . He was so rude to me. I handed the x-rays to h8m and he threw them on the counter and said WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO WITH THESE. I said they are for my cervical stenosis.
