Saw Dr. Philips for stenosis & cyst L4L5. So very grateful for direct, concise assessment & explanation of options. Had surgery about 5 weeks later and I am feeling so much better! I expect to continue my improvement as I heal. . greatly appreciate your time, energy, knowledge, skill &hard work.

I was brought by ambulance to St. Lukes Hospital in August thinking I had a back injury and I was extremely swollen because I hadn't laid down flat in a month. That was not the case, I actually had an infection that was eating my spine and Dr. Philips said by the time I got to the hospital the only thing holding me together actually was my ribcage and my spinal cord. I couldn't, walk, stand or take care of myself anymore. 3 of my vertebrae had been compromised. He told me had to operate right then and there and he didn't know if I would ever walk again. The surgery took 7 hours. He had to scrape out the infection and put a rod in my spine. When I opened my eyes right after the surgery Dr. Philips was right there giving me the thumbs up and told me the surgery couldn't have gone better! Each day I could move my feet a little bit more! I am still in a rehab as I am writing this and my surgery was about 4 weeks ago. I am walking with a walker and the parallel bars and doing strengthening exercises but I am on my way to a full recovery. I will never forget the day I left St. Lukes the Dr. told me that they really didn't think I was going to make it through the surgery never mind walk again. Dr. Philips saved my life and I will forever be grateful to him, his staff, and the other Dr.s, nurses, and other staff at St. Lukes! Thank you Dr. Philips!???? Best neurosurgeon ever. I’ve had a lower back discectomy and cervical fusion by Dr Phillips and I think the world of him. Boston is not always your best choice, especially when it comes to neurosurgery

This doctor saved my life. Having spine problems that no one can see, no one knows your hourly suffering. Dr Philip's made an impact on my life that not even he knows.. I'm 100% pain free after 2 years and thank you is not enough..

Please read!! I’d give Dr Phillips and his entire team 1,000 stars if I could! They saved and changed my life in only a few short hours! I was diagnosed with a Chiari Malformation in Feb through docs and imaging done in Boston, I found my miracle worker(s) by mistake when I was at my end, I was about to give up on life, highly symptomatic with severe syringomyelia (cysts through my spinal cord)! I knew he was the one as soon as I came here and researched, I immediately changed my health insurance to get in for a consultation before I even knew if he’d take on my case! With in a month, I was scheduled and he made zero promises that my most debilitating symptom would be corrected, I’m thinking that he just didn’t want to give me false hope due to the potential long term nerve damage I may have suffered! I never doubted Dr Phillips and his team and I’m so thankful I didn’t, I was 100% symptom free when I woke up from my 3 hour surgery, he was and always will be MY hero, I could see the other 2 mornings when he made rounds that he was beyond proud, as he should be! I’m 6 days post op and I’m already loving life and even the “good pain”...I mean, I did just have my skull reconstructed lol! I’m now able to be the mom and wife, etc that I was always meant to be! I can not say enough to thank them all for changing our lives, I will do any and everything to make sure that my fellow Chiari warriors get to see the best of possible! Disappointed. I seemed to be rushed. The assessment seemed a bit incomplete. I was asked very few questions by the doctor. His clinical examination seemed rushed and incomplete. He just gave me the name of a hip doctor and discharged me. I was never vitalized or my medication was never reviewed yet it appeared on my visit summary, incorrectly! I got the impression that he was too busy and I wasn’t bad enough to be concerned or even explain what my problem is. If he had done a more complete assessment I would recommend him but I can’t.

I asked to see Dr Philip specifically because he had performed surgery on my wife and I was quite pleased with the results. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed in the care I received, or in fact didn’t receive. The examination was very short. He did basically nothing. I was never vitalized by staff. No one reviewed my medication list, and it was inaccurate. But yet my visit summary shows respiration’s and weight that was never taken. I was rushed through with no explanation of my problems and was told directly “it’s not your spine” with no further explanation. I’m quite disappointed and am seeking a second opinion. I personally won’t recommend in fact avoid seeing him.

Good rock steady surgeon not too eager to cut!

Dr. Phillips and Matthew, PA, as well as the entire office staff, had excellent bedside manners, an assertive & appropriate treatment plan, and communicative service. I had a severe herniation causing debilitating pain, loss of sensation, a limp, and at 34 years old, spent the better part of 3 months walking with a cane and in such excruciating pain that I couldn’t sleep in my own bed (and instead in a pile of pillows on the couch). Within one appointment with Matthew, the PA, he took a look at my MRI, pulled Dr. Phillips into the exam room, and they offered me a microdiscectomy and told me that at this point in my injury (going on 3 months) this surgery could really benefit me. I had surgery yesterday and already I have feeling in my leg that I was told may take up to a year to come back, and my PAIN IS GONE! The first night home and this first day have required pain medication for sure, this procedure doesn’t come without pain & soreness of the incision area, but I’m so very pleased with the results that I wish I had done it a month ago. Thank you Dr. Phillips, Matthew, and staff- your office is one I would highly recommend to anyone! I RECENTLY HAD LUMBAR 4 LUMBAR 5 INTERBODY FUSION BY DR. PHILLIPS AT ST. LUKES HOSPITAL. I AM SO GRATEFUL TO BE RELIEVED OF THE PAIN I HAD PRIOR TO THE SURGERY. ( SPONDYLOLESTHESIS L4 L5). I FEEL SO FORTUNATE TO HAVE HAD SUCH A SKILLED NEUROSURGEON.

Dr Philips is the BEST in are area and he has operated twice on me and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND him!!! We are EXTREMELY lucky to have him!!!!

Dr Philips is an incredible Doctor!!?? I would highly recommend him for neck surgery. I had my first surgery through Drs on Cape Cod...biggest mistake! They had no bedside manners, didn't listen to you or care about what you had to say. I fell 4 months after my surgery with them and told me I was fine! I was not! Dr Philips listens, explains everything and took care of me! My surgery was a success, and follow up with Dr Riveria's pain clinic! I couldn't be more happy. I'm in great hands now!!??

This Dr is AMAZING !!!! He has done 2 surgeries on my husband and treated me as well for a pinched nerve. This Dr truly cares about his patients . He will go above and beyond to bring you comfort as quickly as he can.
