He brushed me off and slammed a door in my face when I gave him a note from my therapist that contradicted what he had said.

Dr Nicola and his staff are fantastic. Including the Office Manager.

First let me say the PA John Abshier was GREAT! Very knowledgeable and great bedside manner. So no issues there, I'd recommend him highly and would give him a 5. However, my issue with the actual "LLP" part of this business. I was hesitant to use this practice due to the several other horrible reviews regarding the "office". Boy were they spot on....the office could not have been more unhelpful, rude, and unprofessional in helping me with follow-up actions to my check-up, so I give them a zero and since I now need to start over again, my summary is a 1 out of 5. Do yourself a big big favor and go elsewhere. To the doctors and PAs in this practice, you should SERIOUSLY consider a complete turnover of your "office" staff. This certainly does affect your business...

I have been seeing Dr. Nicola for 10 years, I find him very professional and knowledgeable, but what good is a doctor if he does not have time for you? Appointments are seven days out! I know my condition, and I know the prescription that I need, I just need a doctors note. Five minutes of his time is all I need, NOPE, have to make an appointment seven days from now. Well, I would like to get some sleep and relief sooner than that and not allow my problem to get worse. Not an option with this doctor. Time to find another doctor...

Dr. Nicola has been our primary care physician for about 14 years. He takes whatever time is needed for his patients and he cares deeply about your condition or pain. He found a deadly tumor on an X-ray that no one else detected. Because of him I'm a seven-year Survivor. We don't live in Spring Branch anymore but I would drive from California to his office for my visits. He is an awesome doctor. Dr. Nicola has been our primary care physician for about 14 years. Horrible. They gave us incorrect prescriptions twice... Thank goodness the pharmacy caught the errors. They double billed my insurance company and expected me to pay when insurance said no. We went about 6 times and never met a doctor. I suggest you find a different doctor. We won't be going back.

The Dr. Nicola is an excellent doctor who appears to know his craft very well. He is a very nice person and with a beautiful bedside manner so to speak. My negatives have to do with the office manager and here I now realize I'm reading on thin ice as the office manager is his wife. As a Viet Nam vet I came into contact with Agents Orange, White and Purple. Yes these are real as well as other named colors. The Va has requested some forms to be filled out by my doctors or at the least copies of records. The policy is "We don't do disability forms and if you want copies of your records for review by the VA you will have to pay 50 cents a page." I am a retired enlisted man on social security which equates to limited funds my records would be in the Hundreds I would imagine. All other doctors either filled out forms or in one cases charged $35.00. I realize the good doc will most likely never see any of the reviews as there is a filter system at the office . My heart doctor needed an up to date lab report and as the office has an in house lab section I requested a blood work (it would be quicker) The office manager refused the request as I had one that was 4 months earlier and stated that was all the other doctor needed. The fact that I may have a recently discovered (As I recall) aneurism and they wanted to compare results. Her stated reply was that the old test was good and recent enough. The heart doctor used his own sources. There was a request for a copy of the report though. Final comment: If you want a good doctor see doc Nicola. Also most of the staff are wonderful. If office policy is important to you. Well. The Dr. Nicola is an excellent doctor who appears to know his craft very well. He is a very nice person and with a beautiful bedside manner so to speak. Dr Nicola Is a good doctor but it doesn't say much about his staff answering phone calls. The woman taking my appointment yelled out my name and said Dr Nicola does not fill ADHD medication for pts. Over the age of 18. You need to go to a psychiatrist for this. I was humiliated and upset when she yelled to me that I would have to talk to the office manager Brenda who was nice. I feel HIPPA policy was compromised. My husband was a witness to the conversation in which he heard her say this.

All appointments have been with PA's. Delivered medical records but based on visits the medical records are not reviewed to determine care. You get care based on your current condition only versus medical history plus current conditions. Referrals to specialist are done without consideration of insurance. Prescriptions are sent to the pharmacy without discussion with the patient or an explanation of why the prescription was issued. The wait time is short to see a PA.

Dr. Nicola is an excellent Doctor and is a special and caring person. He saved my life. However office policies are not all good. As a vet I learned my Viet Nam tour exposed me to Agents Orange, White and Purple. VA needs either forms filled out by Doctor or copies of records. Policy, don't do disability forms, for copy of records I have to pay 50 cents a page. I'm retired enlisted on SSI and going blind. 50 cents is a killer. I just found out office manager is Mrs. Nicola.

I went to Dr. Nicola as a new patient for prescription renewal to have a new patient visit the following week. I arrived at his office and filled out the new patient paperwork. I was concerned by the financial obligation contract given to me so I made some changes requiring that the practice ICD-9 (10) code the charges correctly before I became financial responsible for any portion not paid by my insurance company and that the PA be covered by my carrier or I would only see Dr. Nicola. The office manager told me that if I made changes to their paperwork they would not take me as a patient. I left without seeing the doctor. Be sure you are comfortable with signing all of Dr. Nicola's financial agreements before you sing them or find a more flexible physician. Dr. Nicola's office manager stated that ALL non payments they got were the insurance company's fault and that they NEVER made coding errors. It is impossible for them to never make a mistake. Very nice and personable. Appears to be interested in your problems and has a good bed side manor. I don't get to see him very often but his staff of Physician Assistants seem to be very good and competent.
