Unless your issue is solved by Flonase this guy isn’t worth going to see. I’m embarrassed for the Cleveland Clinic to have someone like this represent their organization. I can save you the trip to see him. Take Flonase and antihistamines which is his answer for all issues. He apparently knows my symptoms better than I do living with them daily for years after the 6 minutes he spent with me.

I wouldn't let this guy treat my worst enemy. He is rude, arrogant, condensing. etc. Had me do 2 hearing tests and an MRI and celled AND SAID nothing found. Told me to get fitted for hearing aids, already wear them. SAW GHIM 3 TIMES AND HE DIDNT REMEMBER I Had them, it's sad they let people like this treat get a medical license. Went to see him for severe. and sudden herring loss. My hearing is worse now 7 months later. SAD, SAD, SAD. Stay away.

In my short experience meeting Dr. M McDonnell I felt that this doctor was extremely abrasive. He rapidly fired off questions yet did not always wait for a response. He was rude and condescending. My experience was frustrating and demoralizing. I cannot speak to his expertise as I declined his services. I did not have to tolerate being treated like that, whether intentional on his part or not. Dr. Mcdonnell saw me for MAYBE 5 minutes and cut me off every time I tried to explain my symptoms. Seemed to pass me off and couldn’t be bothered. Very condescending. Paid a co-pay for terrible treatment.

Dr McDonnell was abrupt, in a hurry. I was annoyed with him. I had about 10 minutes with him, maybe. He seemed to be competent, however.

I provided my insurance info ahead of time to confirm it was accepted a week before my appointment and was informed that it was. However AFTER my 5 minute visit with the doctor the front desk told me it was not. They made no mention of this when i signed in the day of the appointment. Mistakes happen and people are human, but they were also supposed to order me a scan for a small mass under my ear and i havnt heard anything back yet and it has been 3 weeks. Very nice, I was at ease right off. Listened to what I had to say. Clean bill of health!

Terrible, rude, condescending. Barely took any time, chalked everything up to stress. 4 months later I am still having horrible pain in my ear.

As a healthcare provider myself, please DO NOT go to this doctor. He will belittle you, invalidate your symptoms, and literally do nothing for you. Seeing him left me in tears and forced me to circle back to my PCP who is now ordering all of the tests (including scans) I need to get properly diagnosed. His care is not ethical and beyond negligent...just read the rest of his reviews. I am shocked he is still working for the Clinic. He is condescending and in it for the money, not for the patients. Do yourself a favor and wait an extra week or two to see a doctor who will actually provide client-centered care.

Provider was dismissive of complaints, cut me off while trying to answer questions, more interested in who diagnosed me for a condition unrelated to why I was there, wanted to know why I was carrying a cane, ( was there due to dizziness & imbalance). I do not recommend this provider and will not be returning.

I had a great experience with the cleveland clinic and Dr McDonnell. He was fast, confident, and nice. I definitely recommend him.

Dr. McDonnell took me seriously as a young adult cancer patient after I had been written off by several other doctors in another hospital system. He was empathetic towards my family and went out of his way to ensure my biopsy was performed quickly. He called me as soon as my test results arrived and referred me to a great oncologist. I am grateful to him for listening to all of my concerns and making sure I received the best care possible. Thank you Dr. McDonnell!

I wish I read these reviews before going to see him. I had a history of ear infections so I thought I was being proactive about seeing an ENT next day as my normal one wasn’t available. Needless to say, I ended up in the ER 2 days later with indeed a very severe infection. He will belittle you and make you feel stupid. There’s a reason he has next day appointments.

Would not listen to my daughter. Asked her age and then brushed her off bascially. Sain the ER and Hospital were wrong vabout where her fracture was ( she had a skull frature and brain bleed from a fall from a seizure). Would never recommend to anyone.

I don't normally do reviews, but I Strongly reccomend you do not go see this doctor. Unprofessional & disregarded my concerns. Basically blew me off & rushed me out of the door. While I was still trying to talk to the guy, out in the hallway now, because hes trying to just move along quickly, I was mid sentence trying to talk to him when he opened the door for the next patient. Neglecting to wear gloves for my exam of my throat & not washing his hands between patients. It's flu season.Thats sick

My son and I both go to Dr McDonnell and he has been nothing but wonderful. He did my sons surgery, everything went great. Everyone I know that has been to him has the same experience.

I went to this doctor over ten years ago for chronic ear discharge and pain but was told I have no problems at all. I felt embarrassed and belittled and left with acetic acid ear drops that did nothing. After ten years dealing with this same issue, I sought a doctor again but forgot who I had gone to before and ended up back in this guy's office. Surprise, he again said I did not have a problem and that I should not touch my ears. So I am imagining nightly ear drainage and hearing loss? Angry.

Its is not very likely i will NOT recommend this doctor to anyone. I was treated last September for substantial amount of hearing loss. He recommend an MRI. I called his office to see about the results and was told we found nothing. Today i had a physical examination by my primary physician. He saw on my chart that i had an MRI and saw that I have fluid buildup in my sinuses. I am starting to experience discomfort in my upper jaw. Why was I not told. Very incompetent on doctors. Behalf.

Dr. McDonnell told my father time & time again that his throat pain was caused by stress. After about 3 months of no treatment, my father went to another ENT & learned, after some testing, that he had cancer in his throat & the back of his tongue, as well as in numerous lymph nodes. After reading other reviews, it seems as it is common for this doctor to skim by patients concerns & brush them off as minor issues. If my dad had listened to this doctor I probably wouldn't have him around today.

EXTREMELY unprofessional and was of no help to me. He diagnosed me with an inner ear infection and said it would go away and to call if problems persisted. I called back around a month after my visit and he inferred that my symptoms were "in my head". If that were the case wouldn't it be neglectful on his part not to refer me to a doctor that specializes in mental illness since apparently I'm SO severely mentally ill that I'm experiencing physical symptoms. Why was that not said at first visit?

Had to have polyps removed he did and all was well. Great follow up.

Was referred to Dr. McDonnell *by my PCP for obstructive nasal polyps.* He took a look & said I didn't have nasal polyps, I had turbinates & "everyone has those." Tried to minimize my issue by blaming dry air & medication. He requested CAT scans which came back clean then referred me to a neurologist. When I asked how a neurologist was going to fix the congestion, bleeding, and inflammation inside my nose, he advised me to receive a 2nd opinion from another ENT. Waste of time and money.

Had almost no] hearing, and screeching noise in right ear x 3 weeks after treated with 2 antibiotics for otitis media per CCF Express Care. McD very curt; condescending. Insulted Express Care CCF North Olmsted staff's ability to diagnose. Insulted me by saying I don't know why you're bothered by this. After I expressed my opinion of his insulting words, he relented and said he wasn't minimizing my problem. Would not recommend this person. Poor attitude. Left office without resolved issue.

Seemed annoyed and in a hurry. Does not take time with patients, well at least with me. He looked in my ears said I'm fine and left. Seems to care about money more then patients. Would never recommend him.
