Dr McCarty could care less about his patients and more about the money he makes. Very poor bedside manner, and makes you feel like a drug seeker if you're not in a certain class of people. He upcharges for just about everything, including Prior Authorizations. He does not care about you or your pain, your simply just a number to him. I strongly advise against seeing him.

I am totally impressed with Dr. McCarty and unfortunately I know pain Drs. Without question he is the best I have seen. From a human perspective(no ego problem- just self confidence), knowledge (He knows the subject matter), and most importantly he has the ability to put those two attributes together and discuss in layman’s terms a tentative diagnosis; the testing needed to figure out the correct diagnosis, and what to do that should/could correct the diagnosed problem(s). Quite clearly a breath of fresh air.

I was a patient for many years. He was my personal dr and He took amazing care of me. He was always just a phone call away thru his nurse and I am grateful for how much he taufht me.

I started at Balcones Pain Clinic Cedar Park in 2013. At the beginning I had a diff Dr (very short X) then Dr Skullpoonkitty. The 1st Dr I had said I needed to just push past the pain. I thought "on no" but Dr Skull came in + said "I didn't read about your MRI. I read it myself. Here is what is wrong w you." And so we began. He was a wonderful Dr + I hated it when he left. But he said due to your complications I want you to see only Dr McCarty. I was actually freaked out to drive so far to Davis lane. Between Keisha + a wonderful woman at the front desk I drove over + over down there. His nurse over the Cedar Park location was horrible..+ When he found out he actually did something about it...thinking of his patients. .(imagine that!). I was diagnosed a trigeminal neuralgia...on top of autoimmune diseases..who needs more pain. But Dr McCarty was always there for me. Amazing Grace.. After a procedure I would cry because it wasn't hurting....he was caught off guard by that...I was just so grateful.. My husband's job just moved us out of Texas. I cried in Dr McCartys office for 45 mins. I couldn't stop. So I would like to say to the people who have had less than stellar care or success from Balcones Pain I'm sorry for you + I hope you truly find someone. But for the others that are looking for a Dr that is direct, caring, knowledgeable, + just so much more look no further. Dr McCarty is your Dr. He doesn't play...He is very good at what he does + he expects he teams to do the same. For me...I pray I find as a Dr in my new state.

I am very satisfied with the care Dr. McCarty has given me the past 6 mo. He is very thorough and always explains extensively the procedures he is going to do on me. His staff is also very helpful.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about a year ago and have unsuccessfully seen countless specialists since then in an attempt to get back to "normal" as much as possible. Today for the first time, I finally felt heard and understood. Dr. McCarty asked great probing questions, didn't interrupt me at all while I was speaking and was very empathetic. I look forward to following his treatment plan and improving my quality of life!

Saw him for severe knee pains. He treated them quickly and effectively.
