About Matthew N Leyton
Reviews for Matthew N Leyton
Had a TriCare referral to them, they will not answer the phone, they “Work from home”, and your appointment will be about a month out if you’re lucky. Today was my appointment, was in the virtual waiting room for a hour and 10 mins, they forgot I had an appointment! Hung up and Immediately called Humana and changed my referral! Do not use! WORTHLESS!
Always late and isn’t very profesdional
This Doctor is horrible. This is my second telephone appointment with him. After waiting for two hours our session began. I asked him some questions and he thought I was picking at him and his facility staff, then stated that he won’t be seeing me anymore. All that waiting for only 8 minutes of conversation and no doctor. Him and his staff members are trash, he should not be in this line business. After I got of the phone I cried my eyes out, because he show no concern or caring for me suffering chronic pain. This Doctor is horrible. This is my second telephone appointment with him. Although I have only had one visit so far I was super impressed. He asks a lot of questions, very thorough which tells me he genuinely cares about what is going on and nnot just pushing medication. I am glad to find a Dr that seems to truly care about what he does, as well as his patients.
I have been seeing Dr .Leighton for apx 4 years for severe back pain after multiple surgeries . I highly recommend him. Listens to my needs and is very responsive to my issues. Very personable and sincere .You do your part and he does his. Awesome staff as well. He does all he can and then some .
His office is TERRIBLE. They NEVER answer the phone nor call back. They do not send orders for the their requested drug tests but demand it be done in 24 hours. Patients waiting for drug test at facility but no order from Dr. Leyton’s office. Takes weeks to return a call. Took 20 days to fill a late prescription even though calls and requests were sent form the pharmacy 5 minutes. He has LONG wait times, hours and hours later than expected even for Telehealth visits. This office staff are rude and inconsiderate or the needs of pain management patients. The worst doctor office I have ever encountered. NEVER go here.

Worst practice in va beach by a mile. Waited 2 hours and still had not seen the dr. They know how to make the appointment just not how to keep them. Customer service by the dr is the worst I have seen in my life .
I don’t mind waiting at all if I get some results-back pain since first seeing the doctor in early December another appointment early January and now waiting until the end of Feb for yet another with no relief. Phone calls are not returned which may be adding to my pain that is 10 on a scale of 1-10! What did he do to help those of you who are no longer suffering? Or are you 6 feet under? I have been going to Dr. Matthew Leyton for over 12 years, and he has helped me with all of my pain problems. I would recommend him to anyone who is having an problems with body pain.
Dr. Leyton is an extremely knowledgeable and helpful pain management provider. I originally saw him in 2014 after spending a year in pain while being seen at the pain management clinic at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. At my very first appointment he explained quite quickly and reasonably why I was still in pain, the correct source of the pain wasn’t being addressed. For just shy of 2 years my pain was successfully treated and the plan of care DID NOT include pills. I then moved out of state, had back surgery that didn’t completely alleviate the pain, was followed by a pain management provider in FL for 4 years, and upon my return to Virginia Beach made a bee line back to Dr. Leyton for pain management. Yes there are times that there may be an extended wait time to be seen, but Dr. Leyton has always addressed my concerns, treated me with respect and listened to me, and provided treatment plans that helped. With that said, he is very straightforward but I appreciate that from medical providers. Dr. Leyton is an extremely knowledgeable and helpful pain management provider. I don’t mind waiting for hours if he would help my back pain. Initial appointment in early December 2019 follow up early January 2020 Next appointment end of Feb2020 Still no relief from pain or any possibility. Perhaps ignoring my phone calls has increased the pain of 10 on a scale of 1-10! How did he help any with back pain or are you??????
Still waiting for pain relief with no promise after 2-3 visits. Phone calls not being returned calls might be aggravating my back!

A good doctor is only as good as his front office and back office staff and Leyton's staff is no better than people working at the public dump. Do these people even understand what their responsibilities are? These people are playing with peoples lives. People come to them because they have a problems with their health, some very serious, some chronic and what can be more daunting for these patients to deal with an incompetent staff. Not to mention they are RUDE, have no manners at all and have zero people skills. Just because someone is qualified thru education doesn't mean you hire that person to do this job. I know nothing is going to happen with my review but I figured if I share it with enough people, they are not shocked when they are dealing with your staff Dr. Leyton. The support staff here was wonderful, but that is where my compliments end. To start the doctor did not walk into the room until over an hour past my appointment time. He was rude, arrogant, and self serving. Various times during the course of my first and only appointment he raised his hand while I was speaking to silence me, and at least once spoke over me while I was speaking. When he found out that I used THC free CBD oil he was NOT happy. He insisted on me stopping it before treating me on the premise of not being able to give me opioids while I am using marijuana. I informed him that I was NOT using marijuana, but legally obtained THC free cannibidoil and that I was not interested in going back to using opioids again. This is when he informed me that use of CBD oil would register as marijuana on the 'very accurate test(S.I.C.)'. He then went on to complain the rest of the appointment about how cannibidoil and marijuana where ineffective methods of treatment, that doctors that prescribed homeopathetic methods were quacks, and that marijuana is big business and they're selling you nothing(as opposed to pushing pharmaceuticals such as tramadol that are not only big business but also have a statistically abuse, addiction, and overdose rate.) Ten out of ten I would never come back here. And I would never trust him to treat mine or anyone else's pain. The support staff here was wonderful, but that is where my compliments end. As a new patient I found Dr. Leyton friendly and he did listen. My problem with him is that you go for pain management and your first appointment (which took 2 hours of waiting) is basically a meet and greet your doctor so you get no pain relief until your following appointment which is 3-4 weeks later. I have suffered from chronic pain for years and came from another clinic that could not prescribe what I needed for pain, so to be told that you basically need to suffer for almost a month until you receive help is horrible to me. Why would you want your patients to suffer? That is the one thing I could not understand. As a new patient I found Dr. Leyton friendly and he did listen. Dr. Leyton is a good Doctor and he does try to help you have a good quality of life living with chronic pain. Saying that...there are no after hours calls answered and when He is away on vacation you are Shit Out Of Luck if you don't have medicine while he is away. There is no one and I mean there is no one to help you. So you SUFFER until he returns. There should be a law passed to make Doctors accountable to their patients. They should not be able to close their office for a week or weeks at a time without some type of coverage for their patients. The irony in all of this, where else can we go? #Livingwithchronicpain Dr. Leyton is a good Doctor and he does try to help you have a good quality of life living with chronic pain. Been coming here for a couple months now. On my 3rd appt across a couple months and every single one has been over an hour late from when my appt was scheduled. My actual appt for my injection was over 2 hours past my scheduled time and I had the last appt of the day. Never once have I even been apologized too. Regardless of my results this place clearly puts more regard into how many patients they can squeeze in to make a buck off my insurance than they do about the actual patients time. Don’t get me wrong, every thing else has been ok to good at best. The doc has a good bed side manner but that does little to appease when I’ve lost an entire day of work and been sitting in a chair for hours on end every time I come here. How hard is it to schedule less patients and include more time per visit if this consistently happens. Been coming here for a couple months now. I normally don't write any reviews for anything or anyone for the most part but I feel that Dr. Leyton has been such a great physician to me that I need to tell my story. I have been to 2 other pain management doctors before and none seems to care that I have such bad reactions to pain medications nor have they tried other medications to help me with my chronic pain, Dr. Leyton listened and worked with me to get the medication that would relief some of my pain and also didn't make so sick, he has always gone out of his way to find some resolutions even though some didn't help me but we are looking for options. I truly appreciate his professionalism and his understanding of my situation sometimes you have to wait a little longer for your appointment but I have not yet been to a Doctor's office that didn't make you wait. If you are suffering from chronic back pain I highly recommend Dr. Leyton and his Staff are just phenomenal they're always polite and more than happy to help. Dr. Leyton is wonderful. Staff needs proper training and maybe a course in professionalism.
I absolutely LOVE Dr Leyton, he is a fantastic doctor that actually takes the time to listen to you :) But be aware, sometimes his appointments run over, because he is so awesome and listens :) The staff is great. I very much so like Dr. Layton however his staff take forever to call back it's been 4 days!
First about his Office Staff. They're the best. They're professional, friendly, and they listen to you. Strange, but Awesome, because I just moved here from Texas and the doctors are nice, but most of their office staff leaves a bad impression on you. Now about Dr. Matthew Leyton. I could sum him up in one word "Astronomical"!!! But for the first time in my 32 years of dealing with chronic back pain, knee pain, sciatic nerve pain, and arthritis; I walked out of his office today pain free and it felt so good. Along with meds and other treatments in just two months he had me wanting to just break down and cry. Instead I thank God for putting him in my pathway. If I never feel this way again, I will forever be thankful to God and Dr. Matthew Leyton for this day 6-7-2017. First about his Office Staff. They're the best. Do not see this Dr. He has no bed side manners and only cares about money! He tries pushing you on drugs that are far worse than what you are taking so he can get the perks from writing new scripts for new drugs and forget the fact that death is the third side effect he doesn't care!! They never answer there phones and his own staff speaks horrible about him and his wife that works there too! Don't waste your time! He will be little you and treat you horrible!!!!!
He prescribed me Lyrica knowing full well that I was on bi-polar and seizure medications with a history of depression and suicidal thoughts. The Lyrica caused my joints to swell and flare up and increased tenderness in all my muscles. I called to let them know and all of a sudden I'm being told that I failed my drug screening. They refused to mail me my results and records.

Dr Layton is a very complete and takes the time to really examine you. I've been to specialist that rush you through, order tests and just write prescriptions. Dr Layton takes the time to specify the cause, examine the evidence and then makes a decision on care. He doesn't just medicate you. In fact he refuses to write for any narcotics on the first visit. I've had chronic pain for over 25 years and just moved from out of state. I'm glad there is a doc here commpassionate and safe.

This is the second experience with Dr. Leyton & it is very positive. Dr. Leyton takes his time with his patients, is very patience & has a great bedside manner. Today most doctors have you in & out in five to ten minutes & have you wondering why I am even here?
