3/25/23 One week ago today I had surgery at Renown Hospital. A 7 inch incision was made in my abdomen to allow for access to correct an obstruction. While recuperating in my hospital bed approximately 40 hours later, I was visited by Dr. Crapko. He was there to inspect the status of my incision. I was on the phone at his arrival catching up on work and Dr. Crapko waited approximately 90 seconds for me to finish. He was clearly irritated by this. In removing the adhesive bandage covering the incision he forcefully ripped the entire bandage length (10”) off in one quick deliberate pull. The unneeded force of this was extremely painful and caused my incision to reopen at, and below the belly button, along with displacing a number of closure staples. I took pictures, this is real. Holding down the adjacent skin while removing the bandage is what anyone would expect. Dr. Crapko showed up the next morning and I refused any level of treatment from him. This guy is never touching me again. I have filed a complaint with Renown.

Better than his associate Dr Thomas who didn't want to reverse my ostomy

Dr Crapco actually hurt when I went in for a first time consultation today. I DO NOT RECOMEBMND THIS DOCTOR

Dr. Crapko lives by his name. He never believed me about pain, always lumped me into a category “well most people don’t so you shouldn’t have any” although my FB group about the problem had a 60/40 pain situation with 80% in some kind of pain at some point drowned on the drain placement. I did, enough to go to the ER 3-7 times a month. In the 4 months I was a patient he did 5, and his colleague did 2 unsuccessful surgeries. in between those surgeries I was septic, and had GANGRENE with infection after infection that he constantly told me NOT to go to the ER for even though I had fevers. All due to a SIMPLE issue of a wound not closing around the drain as it was supposed to. I switched surgeons and after ONE week (truly started to close after the first treatment in two days) they told me it was supposed to do that the whole time. I had a 4 in wound for 4 months and had asked him SEVERAL times if it was supposed to be like that and he said it was fine. That was a blatant lie and caused a multitude of unnecessary surgeries and failed surgery. If I would have listened to him on ALL occasions I called after hours I would LITERALLY be dead. The 6 different ER Drs and 2 surgeons at my local hospital all told me to get a new surgeon. Stay away at ALL costs, I got a lawyer at the new surgical teams direction. Dr. Crapko lives by his name. Dr. Crapko saved my life in jan 2021, I presented in er with major stomach pain . Turned out my bowel had perforated and I had cancer. I did not know ahead of time I would be waking up to a colostomy. It has changed my life, but Igor the stoma and I are alive. Thank u

Dr. Crapko is man of few words, but an excellent surgeon. I went in for a hernia repair, it turned into something different and he took care of it perfectly. This is my 3rd gut surgery (for gynecological issues) and i have had the least pain with his technique.

Performed an ostomy, did not figure out that patient had bleeding ulcer, even with hemo less than 6.5. then did not prescribe any antibiotics. Had to re-do surgery and do 4 blood transfusions. Patient now has Hep c!

It looks like my last review was taken down or scrolled through. be really careful with this doctor, he kept telling my husband he had a tumor he didn’t have a tumor he had a tumor he didn’t have a tumor. well which is it dude? looked me up and down and saw that I was well-kept, so I think he saw dollar signs. he told my husband he needed major colorectal surgery with an ostomy bag. After him saying he did have a tumor and didn’t have a tumor, we were wary of this guy, as he was going to make some life-changing surgery that would affect my husband in a bad way. We got a referral to Stanford university where they confirmed he had no tumor and he’s been cancer free for over three years now. I would not trust this doctor as far as I could pick them up and toss him. Be very very careful of this guy. he saw dollar signs. Get a 2nd opinion! I know he was trying to do his job but with me having this major surgery he should’ve been more compassionate about how I feel and I don’t think he expressed that

Dr. Crapko and his staff are amazing!!! I highly recommend him.

Excellent doctor. Explained everything to me about the up and coming surgery.

Dr Crapko is very professional and answered all my concerns. We are fortunate to have him in Reno.

The greatest colorectal surgeon to walk in Reno!! Very knowledgeable and caring, with a fitting name, to boot!

I saw him for the first time Wednesday he was very through, listened, explaining things and asking questions. Absolutely will refer him to family and friends.

Recommended from my Gastroenterogist and Oncologist. I found Dr Crapko to be professional, competent and sensitive to my situation. He communicated well and answered all of my questions. I had opportunity to ask questions before and after procedure. all went well and I was home shortly after procedure. I had some post surgical pain (that was easily explained) and his staff was responsive to getting me an additional appointment and answers. I always felt I was in good hands. He almost killed me. Misdiagnosed and performed bad surgery.

Referred from my Gastroenterologist and Oncologist, I found Dr. Crapko to be professional, supportive and excellent at what he does. Most surgery went well and uncomplicated. My post surgical care was excellent (Renown) with ample visits from the surgeon. Communication was good. I felt in very good hands.

Make sure you research all the risks of your surgery yourself and consider it carefully with this doctor. He does not communicate possible complications well. Beware of surgeons who get paid to perform surgeries rather than manage your problem conservatively.
