Dr. Matthew Adam Berger

I am a patient of Dr. Berger's, but it has been 4 years since I saw Dr. Berger. I don't know why. I don't know if he would know who I am.

Dr. Berger lacks compassion and his office feels like a factory mechanical line, pill pushers. You only see Dr. Berger once yearly and the appointment is very rushed. Dr. Berger doesn’t take concerns seriously, is dismissive and rude. Medications are pushed out without educating patients of the dangers and side effects of them. There is no real support besides writing a prescription and sending patients on their way. It’s truly sad because people are looking for support during some of their most vulnerable times. I would never recommend Dr. Berger’s office to anyone.

I am a longtime patient of Dr. Matthew Berger M.D., a psychiatrist practicing in Moosic, Pennsylvania, taking the initiative to insure he gets well-earned recognition. Dr. Berger is an acclaimed mental health care expert. He always listens and makes me feel comfortable enough to be completely open and honest. He inspires confidence and I have always felt like I was important rather than just another patient. Dr. Berger is knowledgeable in everything that he works with to the extent that his opinions are often sought after by local news stations.

His office does telehealth appointments which help so much right now. The staff is very friendly and I can call my doctor and she calls me back at anytime she’s great!

I have been seeing Dr Berger and his staff since 2003. Beginning when you enter it is a comfortable place and welcoming. From the front office staff, his therapists, Physicians Assistants, to the Doctor himself, I can’t say enough good things about every single one of them! They are so experienced with mental illness! Honestly, they have saved my life too many times to count. Dr Berger and his staff are the best at least in this area of Pennsylvania. Thank you Dr Berger and staff!

Not only is he a professional he is a good guy. A rare combination in the health care field. Will make phone appointments for people that cannot get to the office. Very pleased with Dr. Berger and his entire staff. The staff is very good and always has an answer to my questions.

He was personable

Had two therapists there... first was awesome...but only got so far. Second after a few months told me to "deal with your issue"... recently reached out again to them for help. I tried to set up new appointment... they never called me back. Cannot recommend this place at all.

I have been a patient since I was in high school and have been disappointed time and time again. My therapist showed up to my appointments late every single time and would often cut them short in the same exact session, still charging me the full price. The PA whom oversaw my medication would wait to send in another order to the pharmacy and there were a few times where I'd run out and be a week or two without them due to her refusing to send them in, pushing my health even further to the brink. And both of the together failed to even give me a proper diagnosis, only saying that "there was something going on," without allowing me to know just what that was. I would not recommend this place to anyone - the only good part about it was the kind receptionist who checks you out.

No provider in the office did a full psychiatric evaluation on me. No labs/EKG done regarding medications.

This office has accommodated me through my treatment process. They return my calls promptly. They answer all questions and get you on the right track to better health.

It is all about the money at this place folks. Forget about sliding scale fees or other adjustments... they do not happen.

They call you to remind you of an appointment a few days in advanced to allow you time to cancel or reschedule since they charge you a fee if you don't. They never called for my last appointment and charged me for a cancellation fee when I was never notified. These appointments are set months in advanced due to it being so hard to get into there yet I called the billing department 3 times and also filed a complaint with one lady and nothing was said to me nor did I receive a call back. They also mess up my billing through the insurance quite often and charge me $50 for a $25 copays and I have to call to have it corrected every time. They are nothing but money hungry, poor work ethic, and an overall terrible organization to deal with. I'm on a fine like with them to just switch to my primary care doctor to prescribe my medications and just he done with their lack of professionalism.

My son was a patient in 2017. Since then he was physically abused by his mother. They refused to see him because he Missed two appointments. This office has no compassion or concerns for their patients.

Unless you want yourself or your loved one dead or severely injured stay away from this flunky! He does not believe thyroid levels or even Grave's Disease affects one's mental state. He does not properly check lab results or even take required lab tests! Dangerous and careless.

Been going for about 4 years. I only go for medication now and see Daryl Krouse and Dr. Berger. Both have always been kind and compassionate. It took a long time for me to stabilize, but they always got me in or called back quickly. The secretaries and other staff have always been very kind and personable. They always ask how I'm doing and engage with me. I have two negatives: 1. The waiting room can get crowded causing anxiety for me. 2. For a few years I saw a therapist there who lacked professionalism and empathy. She was downright awful. It may have just been a bad fit, but I am so much happier seeing a therapist outside of the practice who has expertise in trauma. Hands down recommend this place for meds though.

I have no health insurance and decided to see this psychiatry office anyway for help with my anxiety. This was the WORST, LEAST PROFESSIONAL, MOST UNHELPFUL doctor visit I have ever experienced. The office was dirty, the staff was rude, the clinician was condescending, unsympathetic, dishonest and SLOPPY. The staff made mistakes and in the end I was stuck with a $500 bill due to an error on their part which they refused to compensate me for. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!

This place is a mess. They only allow 15 minute windows to see your provider. I took my sister there and we were 45 minutes away, ended up getting there 7 minutes late and the woman at the front desk had us sit down and wait 5 more minutes before telling us that we cannot see our provider. That we could wait over 3 hours for the next window. That is unheard of. I am thoroughly disgusted with how things went today. There you are not treated like a patient. You are treated like a money stub.

I have been a patient of Dr. Bergers for about 15 years now. I did have issues early on, but since I've been seeing Rachel Galati RN, things have been going very smoothly. She takes good care of me. She asks about my overall health, and works to help me coordinate my mental health medication with other issues I may have. I never have to wait long to be seen, and she is on top of medication refills and any issues with insurance companies.

Every one is excellent in the office they r caring kind and compassionate they listen to u they never rush u out they answer all your questions

A family member used to go to Dr. Malik and was very happy with him. I now see NP Mary Simmon. My visits are for medication not therapy. I like that they use some of the latest technologies such as the GeneSight test to see which pharmaceuticals should be most effective for an individual and which should be least effective based on the person's genes. Would definitely not recommend that office. It's a profit center, and the patients are not treated well. I was once running late for an appointment (around 10 minutes). I was calling to let them know but never got through because I was on hold for 20 minutes. When I got there, my appointment was canceled. I tried to reschedule, and I wanted an appointment longer than 15 minutes, and I was told "No, but maybe your appointment will run longer." The low review on here and Google are quite accurate.

I would not recommend attending this doctor due to his poor standards and lack of empathy.

Met him once in HS and once again 12 years later. Both times he was condescending, no empathy, and made me feel worse rather than better. The last time I told him if he didn't leave my hospital room (I was antepartum) I would jump through the 5th floor window just to get away from him. He left, I felt a LOT better. He is oppressive, doesn't listen, med pusher, and condescending. STAY AWAY

Stay away. Totally lacks empathy towards patients. Never sees them. This is WalMart medicine at best. Office staff fails to follow through on important asks. Such as filling critical Rx refills - caused my kid to end up in a hospital waiting for him.

4 years of hell after my husband stopped taking an anti-depressant he had been taking for 30 years. Instead of putting him back on the medication that had worked for thirty years, he insisted on trying 20 different prescriptions, anti-psychotics, and even electroshock therapy. All the while, he was getting worse, even suicidal. After 4 years of this living hell, I insisted that he be put back on his original prescription. Within two wet, he was back to his old self, and has been ever since.

My daughter received a rude letter from Therapist J disassociating her "professional" relationship. Why you may ask? Probably because my daughter had to cancel her Monday apt on Sunday due to being called into to work at the last minute. My daughter is not doing well now because of this in part. Not my idea of professionalism for a psychiatric/psychological practice.

Called to cancel appt got a letter 2 weeks later that therapist J. was dropping me I had never even seen her it was a rude very crude letter glad I wasn't on the "edge" I find this completely unethical especially from a psychiatric practice I was very hurt and confused

I'm actually pretty shocked at how unprofessional the staff is here. I started calling in the middle of January. I called three times a week for 3 weeks and left messages for the new patient coordinator. I spoke with the new patient coordinator for the first time today after 9 tries and I was even more disappointed in her than I was the other women who answer the calls and transfer you to this woman. Do not use this practice! This is the most unethical and dysfunctional "psychiatrist's" office I have ever encountered. I have received letters regarding my chronically mentally ill family member that were falsified and stating that my family member was compliant with his treatment and appointments...I found out that the letter was written by the Nurse Practioner and signed by Dr.Berger (who never sees the patient) and furthermore, my family member had not been seen for months!!

I've been a patient of Rachel Galati and Dr. Berger for four years. I find them both insightful and thoughtful and have recommended friends and family to become patients.

Love this place. I've been struggling throughout my life with being a victim of a use and the mental illnesses as a result. It's a very busy place and the waiting room can be an anxious place for someone with anxiety. However, I love my therapist and my psych! I've made amazing progress in the 4 years I've been going here. My insomnia is basically gone, the ocd and depression are in control thanks to this place! Super supportive people. Discreet and compassionate as well.

I would have given a better review, but the receptionist are not that polite and ignore you sometimes when there is a line to check in. The waiting room is almost always over crowded and they seem to always be running behind. I once had to reschedule because I could not wait any longer. However, I continue to go the because my physicians assistant and therapist are absolutely wonderful! I feel very comfortable with them and they don't rush through your appointment like when you see the Dr.

I see Daryl Krause, PA for almost two years and she is not only an excellent professional with this practice but am awesome peristaltic, caring and even maintains phone contact when I have medication issues and questions or I'm in an emotional state or problems, love her, anyone would and the office girls are amazing with follow through and anything they can do to accomadate you, ten STAR practice!??????

His office is a patient factory. I went to his office for 5 years, I saw him once. The one time I did he called me crazy and stupid and said I needed to leave. I was just their to get a med refill. It was uncalled for and unprovoked. He is rude and unprofessional

The office is very unprofessional, you call, leave messages and NO ONE ever returns your call. Twice in a row I called to have a script refilled and they never called it in. Definitely looking for another physician
