About Mr. Masaki Oishi
Reviews for Mr. Masaki Oishi
Steer clear of Doctor Oishi. In December 2017 Doctor Oishi performed a lumbar discectomy on me. When I woke up in the post op room I knew right away something happened to me during the surgery. I woke up and my right foot felt like it was on fire and there was shooting pain up my leg. Along with this excruciating pain, my right foot and calf were also numb. Both the post op nurse and Doctor Oishi said this is normal and will go away. I have never had any problems with my legs prior to the lumbar discectomy Doctor Oishi performed on me. At every appointment following this surgery for a year and a half, Doctor Oishi kept telling me that my nerves will heal with time. Finally on my last appointment with Doctor Oishi he just gave up on me and told me I was pain managements problem now. So here I am over five years later and my L5 nerve is dead and I now have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) for the rest of my life. Looking back, I wish I had never met Doctor Oishi.
I was paceint of Dr.oishi. He operated on me more times in week. Im now wheel chair for life. He cut me open rwice in week span. My pain that i have in back is unberable. He cut me open & cut all thedons&legaments to get to my bac Nkow im to cut the. After wards. Now ill be this chair.
He operated me twice on one week. Now i can no not walk the painis unreal. Yes it been 10yr.s but declining day by day . He also scraped my spin 4 to 5 time of cartilage. It was the most horrible ordeal i had go thew. Rehab for 3 yr.s . There more to tell about this . The man butchered me. After all this he still wanted to cut me open again. My spin is bent crooked the rest of my life. There were more doctors involved in this time of my life. It turned out my my back doctor now said i did not even need that procedure in the first place. So that makes me a lab rat. If you need more contact me. T.B.
Approx 11 years ago, Dr. Oishi was my surgeon in Waco… he went through my Throat and replaced vertebrae at the back of my neck. Super complicated surgery, dangerous, scary… I had a great recovery. It was PAINFUL, but that was to be expected. I received a call atleast 2 days after I returned home to “check on me”. Dr. Oishi did a great job!
Same as every other poor review... dealing with the unnecessarily rude staff is exhausting. It's not worth it in a city this size with many other great doctors who will treat you respectfully.
He shows no concern 5 months recover and hasn't checked on me. Honestly I didn't even need surgery! PLS DO YOUR RESERCH BEFORE JUMPING INTO SURGERY!! ESPECIALLY IF UT WAS FROM A CAR INJURY! THEY COULD BE WORKING TOGETHER WITH LAWYERS
The staff is so terrible. Regardless of how your medical issue turns out, you'll regret choosing this doctor just from dealing with them.
Believe the reviews about the staff being horrible. You'll regret having to deal with these fools.
The doctor is great. But office staff needs to be more professional and also remember HIPAA. Not once in the conversations that I have had with this office did they ask for DOB. How do they know that the person they are so freely speaking to or about is the correct patient with out using two patient identifier? Office staff definitely needs more training. Dr. Oishi is a very good doctor, but getting through his rude office staff is next to impossible. I called to request my records from 4 years ago and they told me in a rude manner that they don’t have them and then hung up on me. How can you not have them when you’re required to keep them for 7 years? How can they hold your records hostage? I worked in the medical field for almost 20 years, and we would have NEVER treated patients disrespectfully for asking for their medical records for continuity of care. It’s a shame you can’t get good medical care due to snotty office workers. Dr. Oishi is a very good doctor, but getting through his rude office staff is next to impossible. RUN...in the other direction! There are way too many examples of incompetence and neglect. I've moved on with a knowledgeable and attentive surgeon. I've wasted enough of my valuable time. Get a Dr. that respects you.
I’m not person complains, here i am year later back in his office from a major neck sugery in 2018. I feel like all I’m doing is spending more money. He don’t show no concern or care about my ware being. I have came in at least few times , set with him for 5mins and paid each time for what no solution. Staff don’t reach out to let you know what’s going on . I’m now going into 2020 in process of finding me a new specialist who cares. You put so much trust into someone with your health , all it seems like he just care about the money!! Dr Oishi did a fantastic job on my microdescetomy and decompression of disc. Took 6wks to fully heal, unfortunately I got rearended again and will probably be needing ale bring else done.
I had a herniated disk between L4-L5 and I have to say that Dr. Oishi is an AMAZING doctor. He's a "straight to the point" doctor and gets things done. He's caring, funny and an all around great doctor. I'm very pleased with his procedure, but If I ever have any more problems with my back I would NOT return to his office and here's why. His office manager, Patsy is extremely rude and uncooperative. I'm completely floored by her demeanor and incompetent behavior. She's VERY unprofessional, put me on hold four times and kept interrupting me while I was trying to speak. In addition, she sighed loudly as I was trying to explain my situation to her. She was rushing our telephone conversation (it was a little past 5 O'clock) which I thought was uncaring and just plain wrong. If you plan on having back surgery by Dr. Oishi and have to apply for disability, good luck getting information to your disability insurance company that you need from his office. I am on short-term disability to cover myself for the procedure and it's about to end. Because of nerve damage, I am still not able to work because I have a sharp pain in my left leg, therefore I have to file for long-term disability. Dr. Oishi told me that what I'm feeling is normal, that it will heal over time. He said that it could take 6-8 weeks or longer to heal. He told me NOT to go to work until it heals all the way. I don't work in an office setting. I work for H-E-B in the deli, which means I don't sit EVER (unless i'm on break). Heck, I'm still even taking pain medication and JUST had my staples removed only two weeks ago. I asked her to please send my information over to my disability insurance company (that was requested THREE weeks ago) so that I may apply for long-term disability, as my deadline was tomorrow August 22nd. Mind you, long-term DOES NOT mean that I need another 4 months off. It's there for me if I need an additional 2-4 weeks so my nerve can heal and I can get back to work ASAP. Instead of Patsy writing things down that I was telling her (to give to Dr. Oishi so I can extend my disability) she relentlessly argued with me. Telling me that she can't approve long term disability, and it wasn't written in my file notes. She said she has NEVER approved long term disability for ANYONE. Really Patsy? I just had freaking back surgery. I had to get a rep. from Blue Cross Blue Shield (that's who H-E-B goes through for insurance) to call her and tell her to send the info to Lincoln Financial Group. SMH What an ordeal!!! If I don't get an approval for long-term disability and lose my job at H-E-B (that I seriously love), I'll take matters into my own hands. I may not be loaded with money, but I have money for an attorney. I don't want this review to reflect on Dr. Oishi as a person or what he does. He's a FANTASTIC doctor, he's super smart and he knows what he's doing!! I would trust him to work on my back again if need be. However, as long as he has Patsy running his office for him, I WILL NOT return to his office and that's such a shame to me. The reason I gave this review 5 stars is because Dr. Oishi deserves it, he's awesome. I had a herniated disk between L4-L5 and I have to say that Dr. Oishi is an AMAZING doctor. Dr. Oishi placed a Spinal Cord Stimulator for me. He and his office staff are so very nice! He explained the surgery and answered all my questions. Surgery went great and his staff called and checked on me at home. The hospital was amazing, a true class act and what hospital care should be! Dr. Oishi, his staff and the hospital made this a good experience when surgery is never pleasant. I would use Dr. Oishi for any surgeries in the future and highly recommend him to anyone else!! I have no complaints. He has always been very nice to me. He has only one staff member that isn't very pleasant and she will hang up on before you are finished, but thank-goodness she doesn't work in the front and only answers the phone when the others are busy.
A good doctor
His staff is extremely RUDE. They cancel your appointment after you’ve waited quite some time and tell you you’ll need to wait 3 months for another one. If you can get past his horrible staff, he’s a very nice doctor. Guess I’ll have to find someone who will actually SEE me, even though I’ve had two surgeries with him and wanted to see him. Ridiculous!!
Dr Oishi promptly addressed my concerns and got me scheduled for surgery as soon as possible due to my extreme pain and discomfort. He had great bed side manner even prayed with me prior to surgery. I would highly recommend him. Excellent.
After my elderly mother was discharged the afternoon following a surgical procedure under a anesthesia performed by Dr. Oishi, she became violently ill and threw up more than 25 times over the next 9 hours. We called his staff 3 times to leave detailed messages describing her condition so we could find out whether she needed to go to the ER. No one ever returned these calls, even though his staff insisted he had received the message. This is the end of a long line of poor treatment by his staff, including cancelled appointments and unreturned messages. I have never heard of another doctor failing to follow up after surgery, much less refusing to respond to a patient’s urgent messages and questions the afternoon after surgery.
Made an appointment through the ZocDoc but when call to confirmed it was not available. When called to confirmed they just hang up on me and didn't answer until I called from a different number. Even though the answer was "she will call you by the end of today" was not very encouraging for expected appointment time at 11 am. I don't know how good is the doctor, but his staff is not professional at least.
He must hate patients. This is how Dr. Oishi treated us: 1) kept MRI for 2 weeks, unread. 2) had us drive 30 miles from Kingwood to his Galleria office to review the results 3) His staffer calls us ONE MILE from the office to tell us not to come to the 1:45 PM appointment. Dr. O is in emergency surgery... 4) 30 minutes later, DeeDee calls and asks WHERE ARE WE? Dr. O has been in the office since 1:30 PM.. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!!????? 5) A week later, still hasn't read it.

I have been going to different neurologist and they all wanted me to do physical therapy. I had already done everything they recommended. I saw Dr.Oishi one time and he took action right away. Seeing him was the first time I actually found out I had two bad discs. I felt immediately comfortable going to him. DR.OISHI IS THE BEST!!
Highly skilled and brilliant surgeon, gave me a new pain free life

I would give him a zero if that was an option. Worse doctor and staff. They don't care about your well-being. They only want money. Greedy. Please save your money and time and find a different doctor. You will not get an answer or resolve any health problems. He is not knowledgeable. He will listen to what you have to say about your problems, but then it ends there. Not worth it.
Today was my first consultation with Dr. Oishi. After 7 long years of doctors making me think i was crazy. He made me feel comfortable and help me to better understand my situation. I would definitely recommend him to anyone in questionable pain.

The office staff is the worst I have ever had to deal with. They are supposed to submit all the insurance pre-approvals. The problem is they don't do it and they lie to the patients about having done it. Maria will tell me one thing and the next time I call I speak with Patsy and get a completely different excuse. They were so rude with the insurance company(ins.) that the ins. filed a formal complaint on my behalf. I told the ins. I was ready to go to a different doc. They agreed.

My son saw Dr. Oishi for suspicion of a bulging disk. Dr. Oishi ordered an MRI, so it was important for us to get the results. Dr. Oishi's answers were general and he showed no compassion. Also, he did not tell us that three disks are involved but only spoke of one and he did not explain. His answer after being asked how bad it is, "He will not be paralyzed but it is significant." - Asked about a recommendation for a therapist, he said, "Houston is full of them." Well it is also full of doctors.

5 stars is not enough! To say Dr. Oishi is perfect is beyond an understatement! My BF had a semi truck accident, in which he was hit from behind, causing a concussion, herniated discs, and the need for carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists. Dr. Oishi has already done one shot and one wrist, and everything has gone text book! I highly recommend him for any neuro requirements you may have! 5 stars is not enough! Dr. Oishi was my surgeon on my back and did a fusion. He was so wonderful. Great bedside manner. Lots of humor to make you feel at ease. His assistant Shannon was also so great keeping me informed. I loved them both. Also the office staff is very courteous and accommodating. I give the whole group 5 stars and would recommend them to any of my family or friends .
10 weeks out from 3 level fusion . Dr Oishi and his staff from the front office to those I could not name have done an excellent job. The communication levels as well as expectations identified have been outstanding. Maria and Patsy have done an amazing job at keeping me informed and that means so much . Thanks to you all. You have changed my life.

COMPLETE PAIN RELIEF! Thank you for your great care and expertise. While other doctors did not offer me hope or attention to detail, you spent the needed time to examine me and my MRI images. You gave me options. Having surgery performed by you changed my life. I now live without pain, and I thank you. I have referred friends and family to see you.

I had multiple issues--spinal stenosis, bulging discs, sciatica, compressed nerves, mainly on L4 and L5, etc. At first, I had gone to an orthopedic surgeon to schedule the surgery, but because of the nerve involvement, several people suggested that I get a second opinion from a neurosurgeon. I went to Dr. Oishi and was extremely pleased with the results of the operation. He was skilled and I recovered quickly, needed no physical therapy, and am free of pain. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Oishi is an excellent Doctor. I wouldn't want to go to another neurosurgeon. Unfortunately his office staff, primarily Patsy, are all extremely rude and unhelpful. It was only through perseverance and determination that we were able to have Dr. Oishi provide our needed services. Patsy and all staff are awful - rude, unreliable with getting our info and proper codes to BCBS, and simply put are the worst staff I've ever been around, to include United Airlines.
