I visited Dr. Shriver's office for neurology services after I went through a life threatening event. Dr. Shriver tried to convince me I was fine and nothing was wrong because she wasn't able to find anything wrong in the M.R.I. images that were done. I am disabled and have recovered from being poisoned with a nerve inflammation drug. I was diagnosed with the symptoms below after seeking help from another doctor. Dr. Shriver's office made a mistake by turning a person away who was recovering from having their memory wiped... Anxiety Lumbar Spondylosis Lumbar Radiculopathy Peripheral Neuropathy Neuropathy Entrapment of left Ulnar nerve Cognitive Impairment Depressive Disorder (Depression) Muscle Atrophy Muscle Weakness Dementia Pseudodementia Schizophrenia Sciatica (Florida Hospital) DVT Deep Vein Thrombosis Peripheral Arterial Disease Arthritis - hip and back

Dr. Shriver and her staff are incredible. If you’re looking for warm and fuzzy, she’s not your neurologist. She’s smart, direct and knows her specialty. Exactly what we needed and prefer. Her office manager went above and beyond to help us, many times. We couldn’t be more grateful to them.

My pharmacy has been trying to get a prescription renewed for several days. (which I am completely out of) Dr. Shriver or anyone at the office is IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of. I find this inexcusable and extremely unprofessional. Obviously, they don't care about their patients ????

I wouldn’t even give her one star but I had to to leave the review. My boyfriend has been a patient for two years and it’s been the most stressful two years of our lives. She claims her office called and left voicemails saying they can’t renew his medication FOR SEIZURES but there was no calls or voicemails if you want your loved one to have their medication don’t go here. They never answer their phones and say they will fax over stuff to the pharmacy then don’t then you spend a whole day on the phone trying to get your medication. It’s utterly insane. Then my uncle went there to get help he kept having a hard time walking and was having nerve pain they did CT scans all of it and never caught anything finally after going to a new neurologist they caught what was happening after being misdiagnosed for two years!!! Luckily the new doctor did the surgery and caught it in time or he wouldn’t be able to walk or do anything on his own. They aren’t Thorough at this office and it doesn’t seem like they care about the patients at all . I wouldn’t even give her one star but I had to to leave the review. My initial appointment wasn't the best but that is always the case with me having been Epileptic for 20 years and I deal with a great amount of anxiety because I've had some bad relationships with Neurologists over the years. The next time I walked in, she offered some insight regarding my condition after looking at my test results the last Dr had done which he failed to give me. Five Neurologists later, I'm happy with the one I have at the moment. I don't know that it will always be this way with her but she's given me a reason to stop and actually write this review.

After my 25-year old son was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis I worked endlessly to find him a GOOD neurologist. Dr. Shriver and her staff all went above and beyond. Dr. Shriver took the time to thoroughly explain MS and what was going on in terms that we could actually understand and she also took alot of time listening to our concerns and helped establish a future plan of treatment. Her office staff was just as outstanding with all their help...everything from getting us a quick appointment to helping with insurance. Definite 5 out of 5 stars!!! The staff has one particular person who is very rude and literally avoids phone calls all day...I tried to notify them on the day of my appointment (as they were closed by the time I knew that I needed to cancel the day prior) that my daughter was being tested for Covid and wouldn’t be able to make her appointment as a result I even called a week ago and forewarned that there was a ongoing issue with it being suspected at her facility and she might need to be retested...she also needed to get her medication refilled as a result of this same thing happening once before but it’s always been a case at her day program and at their request we didn’t go to appointments because of the risk she had been exposed...I tried 12 times to call them between 9 and 3 and left 3 voicemails but no one called me back... I had to call my pharmacy and they finally got the rude lady Jackie on the phone and she told them I missed my daughters appointment and they weren’t going to refill it...and almost hung up..keep in mind my daughter will die if she doesn’t have her medication because she goes into a state of seizures called status...it’s very dangerous...the pharmacist stopped her and said that I tried to call them and my daughter was being tested for Covid then Jackie said she would ask the doctor and actually did hang up on her..the pharmacist called back and she said she didn’t mean to hang up she was trying to catch the doctor she was on her way out..it was 2:45...so they don’t answer the phone and they want to refuse refills and expect patients to violate cdc recommended actions for a power trip or what I don’t know but if you don’t want to get treated like you are a bother and it doesn’t matter if your child dies don’t go here...ever ..for anything The staff has one particular person who is very rude and literally avoids phone calls all day...I tried to notify them on the day of my appointment (as they were closed by the time I knew that I needed to cancel the day prior) that my … More

Would NOT recommend. She walked into my new patient appointment carrying a folder with only a blank sheet of note paper & a large prescription pad, then realized she was in the wrong exam room. There were 3 other patients waiting in exams rooms ahead of me. First time seeing a neurologist after having complications from stroke. She never looked at a single bit of patient information, never looked at any test results, no blood work results, no history, nothing... but was ready to prescribe sleeping pills & anxiety meds in a matter of minutes with absolutely never doing a single exam or having read any of my history. Told me if I “didn’t want to take drugs, she couldn’t help me.” There were 3 patients waiting in exam rooms ahead of me and I wondered how she could have see those 3 patients in 15 minutes when she came in my exam room. Now I know.

The people in this office are very kind. During my 1st visit my daughter was very fussy. The receptionist came out to comfort her and talk to her while I filled out paperwork. Dr. Shriver is amazing as well. After 4 years of various doctors, she was able to finally diagnosis and get treatment started for us.

I saw this lady years ago, and I am surprised I am still alive. I saw her for chronic headaches, she ran an EEG and a MRI. I had had a problem in the past with seizures, but had gone 18 years without one. She put me back on seizure meds, which was expected. However, after being put on a few meds, I started having so many seizures, that I spent most of my time in the hospital. She basically told me I was depressed. How you get depression out of that, is beyond me. I finally found a neurologist that listens and cares, and I have been seizure free, and on meds for quite some time now. And I have not suffered from any depression from them.

I do not have enough accolades for my recent visit here. I will refer everyone to this practice. It's a small intimate office not a lot of corporate healthcare beurocracy to be found here just a team of caring people. I came to Dr. Shriver as a new patient with sudden onset of Drop Foot. Basically I woke up one morning and my foot wasn't picking up when I would walk. It was as if I had a stoke in one leg. I wasn't in any pain and I didn't understand what was happening. My experience as their patient started on the phone with the amazing Charlene who recognized that timing was of the essence and she worked me into the schedule. I am greatful she understood my symptoms and recognized the urgency. My other option was to go to the ER at the advice of my primary care Dr just to be admitted to see a neurologist to investigate what was going on. What a blessing that I was able to be seen - Dr. Shriver and Charlene truly care about helping people! They did an EMG in their office and escalated the schedule for MRIs so that I left her office and went over directly for an MRI after. The following morning they had the results. I ended up needing surgery and instead of being subjected to the surgery in an ER hospital situation- the medical team at Dr. Shrivers office referred me to one of the best specialized neuro surgeons in Tampa for the surgery to ensure the highest chance of successfully recovering the nerves. I was also told that timing was of the essence for the highest chances of success. I had the surgery set up with the neuro surgeon within the same week of seeing Dr. Shriver. Today it's been 6 weeks after having the spine surgery and I am walking perfectly fine again. I wouldn't be walking this great today without the professional courtesy, medical knowledge and astute efficiency of the team at Dr. Shrivers office. They truly care and I cannot extend enough sincerity for their help through this unfortunate process. Many Thanks... I do not have enough accolades for my recent visit here. I am a current patient of Dr. Shriver and she is an AMAZING doctor but her office staff ruins the great experience you have with the doctor with a simple phone call. Holly Jackie and Charlene need to be removed from the office and re-trained on phone etiquette in a medical office environment its sad because even the Google reviews say they are horrible . It sad that such a great MD has a sucky office staff. Anywhere I am able too I will complain so everyone knows how unprofessional they are.

I had to wait awhile to get in to see her after having my head MRI that she ordered. Once in there she casually explained I had a chiari malformation by drawing some scribbles on a paper to "show me what it looks like". She quickly moved on and when I asked about more details she brushed it off and said not to worry about it. She also prescribed medication that has major interactions with 2 of my other medications and she never even went over my medication list that day.

If I could leave less than a zero for this doctor, I would. I went here even though I did not trust my gut and listen to prior reviews. Low and behold, the prior reviews are 100% accurate about Dr. Shriver lack of care, lack of empathy, lack of sympathy, and flat out lack of support. Dr. Shriver is inefficient, misdiagnosis, fails to listen, fails to properly examine and simply just fails as a doctor.

This was a complete waste of time! I visited for the initial consult and now 2.5 months later, I'm still waiting to schedule botox for migraines. The office staff, especially Charlene, is rude and gives the run around. The office did not know how to request approval from isurance and bill the codes so I had to call the insurance company's nurse and have her call the office to relay approval procedure and billing procedure. Every time I requested a document to be faxed, it took 2-3 times to fax. When I complained as to the faxing (in specific this fax was blood work), Charlene advised they received so many faxes that mine was probably misplaced; at which point, I question how do you misplace blood work and hope that it doesn't end up in someone else's chart. I have switched doctors now and urge anyone else thinking of going to this doctor to please do your research and go elsewhere! This was a complete waste of time! PLEASE GOOGLE Your Doctors! Ok with that being said. I went to Her because I knew her from working with her in the hospital setting always had a smile on her face and seemed like an overall good person. So why not right? Big Mistake. I saw Dr. Shriver following a seizure episode I had at a local restaurant. I went to eat lunch and woke up in the emergency room. Was told I had a seizure.? yes crazy, the last time I had a seizure prior to this was when I was like 8 years old. I didn't wear a Helmet and had a bike accident. So tell everyone to wear a helmet. So I thought this was gone and it was over. All my previous doctors said kids grow out of them. Well google brain cells and how they die and reform. Makes a little more sense. My new neurologist who has been practicing for over 30 years actually gave me a good education on what was happening. I learned that brain cells Die and reform even into your thirties. So if you have an injury when your a kid. have seizures, injured cells die new healthy ones form this pattern repeats for a number of years no seizures, dormant injured cells now form in the normal cycle and a seizure happens. It is what it is, I didn't voluntarily trade my drivers license for a house that is now my prison. The medications Dr shriver had me on was Keppra and Lemictal. Very little help if any. she denied requests to try me on Dilanton which was successful as a child. Then sent me for a test which I was in the hospital on an eeg machine and had a video camera on me. Several times alarms went off and a nurse came in and I was fine. I never had a seizure. But after 3 days another Dr comes in and calls them Psychogenic. So Im like yes maybe there isn't an issue and If I see this Pysch Dr it will all be fixed. Well nope Dr shriver took me off all medications and the Pysch Dr immediately put me back on Lemictal. while this whole time still having 4 to 5 seizures a month. But it was in my head. Well Finally I decide to see another Neurologist because I wasn't Making any progress with Dr shrivers diagnosis. Well He educated me also that My MRI which was negative per dr shiver and Him as well as the radiologist that read it says that all frontal lobe damage cant be seen in the MRI, And I have a picture of me after my bike accident, Guess what was injured..........yes you guessed it, the frontal lobe. So my New neurologist puts me on triliptal. Another seizure med that dr Shriver didn't even bring up. It took my seizures from 3 to 5 a month down to 1 or 2. Something as simple as not judging a patient based on what ever it is that you think of them when they walk through the door. Even though she looks like she is actually caring she is just dissecting everything you say to write down in her record and also lie about things she did. I seen her 12 times and saw an exam room once to get weighed, yet they have vitals written down for every visit, She said she did a Pain evaluation on the legs and never once did we speak about it ever. Also we had a conversation about a diet so I told her about my Wifes cooking which is good and a source of my obesity but I brought my wife in to see the Dr so the dr can talk with her about helping in losing weight. But she said I was unreceptive to changing my diet and waved off her attempts for help. Yeah and there is more but I have taken enough of your time. If you don't believe me then go ahead and see her. Im sure She has helped some people or she wouldn't still be practicing today. So I can only attest to my personal experience with her. So If you would like others opinions just google her. There is plenty to sift through. If you happen to read this Dr Shriver I would love to buy you lunch one day and talk with you about all of this. I have been seeing Dr. Shriver for aver a decade & most all without insurance. She has not only given me excellent physician services in an extremely caring way, she has helped me when in situations where I needed a doctors services but was lacking financially. She and her staff are everything we should expect from a doctor serving the public's health concerns. All thumbs up from me and everyone I know who has seen her.
