This office is Absolutely wonderful . Dr. Schmitz is so amazing , personable and makes you feel comfortable with being in her care. Karen , her assistant is one of the biggest sweethearts I ever met..she’s so very genuine, warm and kind . The office ladies Are also very nice and helpful. I’m very thankful to have my care in this teams hands .

Dr. Schmitz listens and answers your questions. She explains what's going on and proposes next steps in treatment that allow for your input. She and her staff provide care that went beyond my expectations. A former neighbor who works at Swedish Hospital said that Dr. Schmitz fights for her patients, but that didn't come as a surprise to me.

Dr. Schmitz and her team make me feel as if I am part of the team and not just another patient!! I couldn’t ask for better care!!!

I am giving DR. Schmitz one star because she REFUSED, yes, REFUSED, to accept, complete and sign my employer's disability leave paperwork for post-surgery leave of absence. I provided the paperwork to Dr. Schmitz before I scheduled the surgery just so she would have it ready to go after surgery. This paperwork, once signed by Dr. Schmitz, would have allowed me to be out on disability leave and receive two-thirds of my regular weekly pay AND would have paid for all of my medical, dental and vision benefits I would otherwise lose if I was out of work post--surgery and not on disability leave. When Dr. Schmitz's nurse called and left a message saying the doctor would not sign the document and that I should instead ask my primary care provider to complete and sign the paper, I was shocked. My primary care provider was not the person performing surgery, Dr. Schmitz was the provider who would have performed it and would have provided the diagnosis and correct diagnosis codes. I have never heard of a doctor refusing to complete and sign the employer-required paperwork in order to place a patient on a paid disability leave after surgery or ANY injury or procedure that would render that patient unable to return to work until fully healed. Dr. Schmitz offered to complete a Family Leave document but family leave is UNPAID and used if a family member is sick or dies and this form would have provided absolutely no protection/retention of my benefits. So if you need surgery and are employed and will, of course, need to be out of work to recover and are entitled to paid disability leave through your employer, find another surgeon. I found a lovely surgeon who did a great job and had absolutely NO problem completing my employer's disability claim form. I even mentioned the disability form to Dr. Schmitz at my initial consult with her and she exclaimed "we sign those forms all the time." Really?? I am giving DR. Dr. Schmitz and her staff were compassionate, extremely knowledgeable, and good communicators. I had complete trust in her. My surgery went very well and my recovery was fast.

Dr. Schmitz is FANTASTIC, smart, engaging, and personable! She's a joy to work with especially when you consider the gravity of her speciality. All the front staff and Dr. Schmitz assistant are so welcoming and gracious - this office treats everyone with respect and dignity.

What a wonderful, caring doctor. She really takes time to communicate. She seems very knowledgeable.

Dr. Schmitz is wonderful! Her staff is great and very efficient and helpful. I would recommend her to anyone in my family and all of my friends.

I was referred to Dr. Schmitz at the end of January for a massive fibroid and ovarian cyst and ultimately ended up having a hysterectomy and cyst removed. Dr. Schmitz thoroughly explained the procedure to me before the surgery on multiple occasions, spent 45 minutes with my husband and I the night before surgery in my hospital room and came in early the day of surgery to put my mind at ease. Dr. Schmitz is an incredible surgeon, but you'd never know b/c she is one of the most kind and humble people you'll ever meet. Her bedside manner is professional, reassuring, but you never lack confidence in her ability to get the job done. What should have been (based on other people's experience) an absolutely horrible experience was one of the easiest times in my life. My recovery was speedy (back to work in two weeks from home). No complications and pain was managed very well through the entire process (never above a "5" - even immediately post surgery). Thank you, Dr. Schmitz and team for everything you did! I am very grateful for Dr Schmitz and Nurse Karen. The skill and caring of these women and their entire staff are perfect. I thank God I was directed to them.

Dr Schmitz was my surgeon for a peritoneal carcinoma procedure and scheduled my surgery as quickly as possible, called me on the Saturday following the surgery to let me know the pathology results, and also called when she knew that my daughter could be part of the conversation. I so appreciate Dr Schmitz's empathy, thoughtfulness, and exemplary skills.

I would most definitely recommend Dr. Schmitz, and her practice. I believe her skill to be exceptional as is her ability to listen and have compassion for her patients. I also would like to say that her Nursing staff, in particular Karen, are exceptional as well!!! And her receptionist, Gayle is organized and very competent, calm, and pleasant. I must say....it meant soooo much to me to hear the Doctor say she would pray for me after my diagnosis and treatment recommendations...she was clear and hopeful.

Dr. Schmitz is knowledgeable, skilled, experienced, and caring. My experience with her has been totally positive and life saving. She listens, understands, and and offered me honest advice as to my prognosis and consequences, but didn't aggressively insist that I follow it. I did take advantage of her clear recommendation and had her do my surgery. The surgery and recovery were completely successful and amazingly pain free. The staff in her office are an outstanding, lovely, competent and very caring team which adds a lot to my comfort level when I have an appointment. In my last visit, Dr. Schmitz spent more time than usual talking with me which I very much appreciated. Because of covid 19, she couldn't give me her standard hug, but I felt one from her anyway. I appreciate her and highly recommend her.

Dr Schmitz and her entire staff are great! She explains every step and listens to all of your concerns no matter how small. You never feel rushed, in fact, the caring and concern of the nurses and staff make you feel loved during your most stressful time. You can’t go wrong choosing this practice.

After having cancer, nothing is more nerve- wracking than follow up appointments. However, ever time I visit Dr. Schmitz, I am overcome with a sense of calm and always feel so loved up and taken care of. My most recent visit was a bit overdue, and Dr. Schmitz greeted me with the most reassuring bear hug:) Hands down the best doctor and support staff I have ever had...and I have had a lot!

She performed my hysterectomy and did an excellent job all throughout my ordeal.

This was my wife, Sharon's first visit for consultation about an operation. The staff was friendly, caring and considerate of her dementia. Dr Schmitz was great. She had reviewed the prior info sent and knew exactly what needed to be done. Her exam of Sharon was compassionate and she explained the upcoming procedure clearly and answered all my questions.

At a doctors office no one wants to be familiar with, they all treat you like family and truly care about your well-being. I would recommend this office to anyone!

I am 66 and never had any surgery.So I was floored when I was told I had stage 1 uterine cancer and needed a hysterectomy. Dr.Mary Jo Schmitz explained everything to me and gave me great odds for a full recovery cancer free. My boyfriend has had 6 surgeries and was hugely impressed by Mary Jo and her crew. He couldn't believe how nice everyone was.

given the overwhelming number of excellent reviews i am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, but my experience was terrible. dr schmitz seemed distracted and was not listening to what i told her. she did not read my records before my visit and scared me badly when she told me i had vaginal cancer which was in reality radiation damage from brachytherapy. the records from my former physician made that clear but she was too busy to read them. i left her office trembling and in tears. there was no cancer in the vagina.

Hands down THE MOST CARING STAFF I've experienced. From the reception to Karen/the nurse, to Dr. Schmitz, they are all so helpful, knowledgeable, empathetic and incredibly kind even on a busy day. Their follow-up with sharing results is timely and personal. I simply cannot say enough good about this provider and office staff—I only wish my other providers shared half the compassion they exhibit on a consistent basis. Special thanks for providing me with such supportive ongoing care. It means so much and I am so appreciative.

I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Mary Jo Schmitz for my recent hysterectomy. She provided excellent presurgical counseling about the benefits/ potential risks of the procedure and its value in my case. As a surgeon, she was extremely competent, kind, and thorough. We found Dr schmitz to be very kind caring doctor. We had alot of questions qnd she answered them.didn't rush us.

The office was clean and bright and spacious. They had good coffee. I had two sips and they took me to the back. I saw the nurse, and then the doctor came in and did a brief exam, and laid out the plan. I was in the office a total of 20 minutes, and I felt this was plenty of time given the doctors professionalism, not to say her level of caring. By the time I left, I still had half a cup of coffee and it was still hot. The nurses were very good. Incidentally, the doctor has the brightest smile!

Dr. Schmitz was amazing! She was able to explain my prognosis and course of action options clearly and made it so me and my family were able to understand what previous doctors could not. She was kind and professional! The whole staff went above and beyond. Plus I have never been in an office were every single person was so positive and kind!

I am so happy that I chose Mary J Schmidt....I would highly recommend her as she is extremely knowledgeable. I was 88 years old....she did a hysterectomy for me and it was very successful. I now go every 4 months and she checks me to make sure no cancer has returned. I love her....she is so sweet.compassionate and sympathetic. I made a great choice.

Dr. Schmitz is a very gentle, knowledgeable and caring doctor. Her staff are, soft spoken, pleasant, caring and knowledgeable nurses and office staff. Considering what I went to see her for I was put at ease and felt very comfortable in the office and exam room.
