Mary Harris

I have been under Dr. Mary Harris's care for 21 years and she has always been attentive and empathetic towards my concerns, her medical advice and treatments have successfully remediated my gastrointestinal symptoms, my colitis flare ups have been nonexistent.

Dr. Harris was a referral from my GP. Dr. Harris is absolutely horrible, believe the bad reviews here. Dr. Harris is extremely rude! Her office is also extremely unorganized. I called the Institute for Digestive Health & Liver Disease and was given appointment times available, and I selected 8:30A. Then I receive a message inside of MyChart from Dr. Harris saying to arrive at 11A for a 12P procedure. I then received another message saying arrive at 6:30A-8:30A for a first come first serve – I had to call 2 times to verify the correct appointment time. After following the prep instructions given, Dr. Harris was unable to get clear images. I asked, “you weren’t able to see anything….” She turned around and nastily said “this is what I saw, and this is what I saw and this is what I saw” while holding the printed images. So incredibly rude and nasty!!!

Run, don’t walk. I can guarantee that you can find a more compassionate doctor elsewhere. Can corroborate the other low reviews here. Kind at only the first appointment, but brusque, rude, condescending at every appointment after. Gave me a poorly reviewed colonoscopy prep I later found out she was being heavily incentivized to sell through a provider transparency site; it was taken off the market for severe contraindications within the same year. When she asked at my next appt “how I liked the prep”, I reminded her that she herself scolded me due to the prep not sufficiently cleansing my colon to check for Crohn’s or cancer, and had dehydrated me to a dangerous level. She scoffed and replied “okay, so we’ll do that again for the next one” and wouldn’t let me leave without scheduling another colonoscopy, including some very bizarre pressure to book with the hotel next to the facility to do my prep (more incentivizing?). Had to turn around and cancel the procedure at the front desk.

During my first appointment with Dr. Harris, she was kind and seemed to have a good bedside manner. In every appointment since she has been abrupt, angry, and her tone of voice and body language read to me as overwhelmed/frustrated. When I was coming out of sedation (still loopy) was the first time I saw this. She smacked a finger on my chart and barked that she found a “turd”. With wide eyes she said only “back in a year.” Humiliating way to talk to a vulnerable patient. During a recent visit when I was in a lot of pain, I asked if she received my hospital and ct scan rcrds, she threw her arms up and shook her head yelling “you have to send that stuff to me DIGITALLY! I don’t go to my Baltimore office very often!” I was shocked and said “I did request that they send them digitally” she said she never got anything. I apologized, saying I called twice to have then sent. She pushed herself away from the desk saying “never got ‘em”. She then looked and found them. A traumatizing doc.

When I walked in to see Dr. Harris for the first time she was caring and really listened to me. I had been sick for almost 7 months and nobody believed me. I had lost a rapid amount of weight fast. Dr. Harris told me she would figure out what was going on. She returned messages and calls to me very quickly and is extremely knowledgeable.

Dr Mary Harris has been taking care of me for more than 10 years. Mary is one of the most professional, kind doctors I have ever encountered. Mary takes time to talk about ones general health in a relaxed, holistic way. She is one of a kind.

I have been a patient of Dr Harris for a little over 10 years and I absolutely love her ???? I am a disabled Veteran and sad to say she treats me 1,000,000 times better than the VA Hospital in Baltimore!

I had an in person appointment with her scheduled and received a call from her office the day before telling me there was a time change. I couldn’t accommodate the time change because I am a hairstylist and have clients. She changed the appointment to a zoom meeting which I wasn’t thrilled about. When I got on the zoom I was not greeted by the doctor but by an assistant of hers, I wasn’t even made clear of who this person was. We spent 4 minutes on the zoom call scheduling a colonoscopy I wasn’t even sure I needed to have. I later canceled the colonoscopy and decided to seek out a new doctor who would find the time to meet with me. I was charged $400 for this 4 minute meeting with god knows who and she refuses to cancel the charges. This is during a world pandemic and she’s a doctor who’s supposed to help people get better. She’s clearly only in this for the money and is a disgrace to medicine.

Absolutely the best in her field I have been under Dr. Mary Harris care for more than 16 years. When I first came to her my colitis was out of control when under the care of previous doctors. Gone to Dr. Harris for years. She is awesome! Love her dearly!

Mary Harris has been my gastoenterologist for over 10 years. She is caring and meticulous. She explains the results of procedures clearly to be understood by a non-medical person. I have never had to wait to be seen in her office or in the operating room. I trust her implicitly. I feel as though she has all the time in the world for me even though I know she has patients in the waiting room.

It was very a disappointing visit, I had colonoscopy done by Dr. Harris several years ago, and before procedure I asked for her advice given my heath problems, She cut me short stating that I needed to schedule an appointment with her to discuss my problem. So I went today, and all I got was an offer of another colonoscopy?! She did not even want to talk about the problems, Her nurse practitioner asked me questions and had nothing to advice. Accept the nurse refered me to pelvic physical therapy

Dr Harris is very knowledgeable, however she is very condescending & often requires colonoscopy to do any evaluation. I have Crohn's and while she is excellent for knowing the newest drugs to treat this condition she is very insistent on her patients doing multiple scopes. Very rarely have I been for a visit in the past 7 yrs where 1) she actually touched me &2) I didn't leave the office scheduling yet another colonoscopy. If you question her she gets very defensive. I LOVE MERCY,however.

Rude and condescending. Overreacts when she doesn't agree with patients and talks down. She has yelled at me multiple times and made me cry.

Dr. Harris is an Ulcerative Colitis expert. I've had UC for over 10 years, been through a dozen doctors and am happy to found someone that understands and is able to effectively treat my disease.
