Dr. Mary Elizabeth Eslick

I've been going here my whole life, (I'm 15) and they've always been very rude to me and my mother. One time right before the pandemic we waited for 3 hours to see why i didn't feel good, by the time I was checked out we've waited 2 hours. She jammed something in my ear and then gave me an ear infection without even helping me for why we went there originally. And along with that there were kids screaming the whole time. They have the same wallpaper and carpets and equipment from my oldest brother went back in the early 90's. It amazes me how they still up to code with all of this. Their play area prior to COVID was very disgusting and now it's just empty. Same carpets and everything too from the 90's as well.

I have never ever written a review about anyone but l feel like I should for this doctor. Although my first visit with Mary was great (stayed a full hour and she was very thorough with her questions) at the end she decided to do blood work for my four year old instead of the scratch test. My four year old was actually super ready for the scratch test as she did not want any blood work but oh well. She didn’t feel the need to do food allergy test at the same time only one set of blood work. She also assumed I was using certain products and provided me with samples (which was great) but she never asked what she was already using.. which was what I had already been using ????????‍♀️. My daughter’s issue became worse, so I asked for a food allergy test.. and this was where things left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The nurse couldn’t have been any more rude to me over the phone. I somehow got her to have Mary give me a call back. I advised her that my daughters doctors diagnosed my daughter with Atopic Dermatitis and after doing further research, food allergies could be a trigger to her flare ups. Whelp, she basically told me I was ???? wrong and if I really cared about such matters that I should maybe go to school to learn about it as she has. She referred me to one qualified website and told me to only look there and I will know there is no such thing as a connection to Atopic Dermatitis and food allergy, that my daughter is just a worry-nelly and maybe I need a therapist to teach her to. It worry. My daughter is the most worry free 4yr old ever.. Whelp, that website told me otherwise about food allergies and atopic dermatitis. After the nurse also lied to me saying she faxed over the second round of blood work (she was rude saying she send it a second time when I had been at quest diagnostics twice and was standing there as they said they hadn’t received a thing. I went a week later to quest diagnostics and the finally had the request for my blood work. The results according to Mary? My daughter had zero allergies. The actual results? Very low level of egg allergies.. We have stopped giving my daughter eggs and guess what… ZERO flare ups in two months and hasn’t gotten sick AT ALL in two full months.. thanks to my diligent research and not thanks to the advice of this doctor, my daughter is finally a normal child. This office is horrible their staff is rude and unprofessional. There staff are very rude, attitude on the phone , snappy remarks , even the stuff have their medical opinion and they are not even a doctor !! Plus they are liars I called for my son order for liver ultrasound and the nurse told me it was faxed to the hospital, I called the hospital and they said it was not fax and they got off the phone with then nurse the order was not signed by the doctor yet ! Mary office gave me an ultrasound appointment for 2/26 I asked if there was an appointment sooner and they said no when I called the hospital they gave me an appointment the next day ! Unbelievable how unprofessional and no compasión or concern on their patients. I will not recommend this office to any one .. I transfer out after this last incident !! After going here for years of my life when I was younger, this office and Dr. Eslick are the worst. Extremely demeaning and condescending. Not people you would want in healthcare. While Dr. Eslick is smart and knowledgeable, that’s not all that goes into healthcare. Compassion, understanding, and friendliness are major points in being a healthcare provider. She and her office staff have no compassion and the wait is ridiculously long. One time when I was 14 she had poison ivy on her hands (which I am extremely allergic too) and wanted to check my breasts since she said it was mandatory since I got my first period two years before that. I repeatedly said no and did not give consent since I was extremely uncomfortable with her in general and that fact that she had poison ivy on her hands. She DID NOT use gloves after I begged her too since I had no choice in the matter of her touching my breasts. I felt extremely violated at only 14 years old. She was also so rude to my mom who was always doing her absolute best for me. Dr Eslick is one of the nicest people I have encountered. She is knowledgeable and does an outstanding job!

Dr. Eslick was very understand about how worried I was and went through every possible explanation there was for why my child just wasent getting any better. We did have to wait so be prepared! But the care and compassion she showed to my little one was very pleasant. When you go for you’re appointment they do ask you to stay in the car only because there waiting room is closed down. So bring something to entertain the kids with. Yes there is a wait, but we’re in a hard time. Dr. Eslick is the most diligent doctor we have come across and worked through every concern I had about my child. I left with a clear mind and not over worried about my child’s health because that’s what a good doctor does.

This place is like pulling up at a haunted house! I was told I was not allowed to enter when I arrived and had to fill out paperwork in the car in which my sick son was already upset and sick! (2 month old!) the lady who greeted me was so beyond rude and patronising she should not be allowed to work in a paediatric office. Not at all friendly or warming towards myself or my child. I was then shown into what I can only describe as a garden shed tiny room in which felt so dirty I felt we could get sick from just being in there. Had to wait over an hour with a sick newborn! When they weighed him they used scales from the Stone Age that weren’t even electric and far from accurate!!! They weighed my son as 1lb heavier than he was. Eslick finally came after waiting an hour, no apology and used no gloves when dealing with my son. I was totally disgusted by this place and will never step foot near it again! I'm so done always here waiting for a hour or 2 just to been seen for something so simple hoping to find someone better for my daughter. At this point she needs to close her practice I don't think she cares like she used to I mean come on when you don't care don't bother I came here as a child and nothing ever changes she's to old school which I thought was good some situations it is but we're the parent your the doctor but this waiting is ridiculous if my daughter's app is let's say at 9 we're not seen until 1030 at least!!! Horrible experience

Dr eslick spent 2 years of my childhood yelling at me about the color of my pee not being clear and telling me i couldn't have depression because i didnt have "real problems"

The nurses are way better then the doctor she expects my son to sit there and talk to her when he doesnt even know her shes rude to my son and me she doesnt even look at him when he tries to give her a book or a toy she always says hes fine without even touching him or looking ag him and everything to her is normal for a 1 year old ???????????? she doesnt deserve to be a doctor shes horrible i dont recommend her at all changing doctors as soon as i can. We used dr eslick for only one year. I tried to like her bjt shes terrible! She has horrible manners and knows nothing about medicine! My son ended up being emitted to two differenr ers because she ignored warning signs of appendicitis... Today I had one of the worst experiences of my life with a doctor and that doctor was Mary Eslick. I came into the office with my sick 15 month old son who had a fever of 100.9 earlier that morning. He’s miserable. The receptionist who is always pleasant and WONDERFUL told me we have to go straight back into the examination room because it’s flu season and they’ve had some flu cases. No problem, totally understandable. So we wait in the room for a little over an hour. Now anyone who goes to this office knows the wait time is always about an hour or more. Which is ridiculous however I NEVER complain, because the doctors that are taking new patients in Norwich is LIMITED! And thus far I haven’t had an huge issues with her. However there’s been a couple experiences in the past where I wanted to change doctors because of how she interacts with my children. It’s not always professional. So anyways at this point we’ve waited a little over an hour and Dr. Mary opens the door to the examination room. Now this room is about 5X6 with an examination table, a chair and the doctors stool. There’s about a foot of playing area on the rug. For the past hour that we waited my child found great pleasure playing with the 5 little wooden block there were, one coloring book and 1 I spy book. At this point when the doctor arrived the toys were scattered on the floor. She enters and says “ Wow looks like a bomb went off” in a very rude tone, I was taken back. Not the reaction I was expecting after my child has been so quiet while he patiently waited in this tiny room with only a few toys to occupy with. I reply to her “ Well, it’s kind of hard to occupy a one year old in this room for over an hour” Dr. Eslick immediately gets hostile and starts throwing the blocks aggressively back into the container. She picks up the books and throws them back into the wooden magazine wrack they go in. I was scared and shocked! I grabbed my sons arm as he sat on the examination table terrified and asked her if there was a problem. She snaps back “well you’ve been waiting for over and hour so we better get started” This doctor showed severe hostility and aggression towards my 15 month old child and myself because he simply played with the toys she had left in the room. What are the toys there for if my child can’t play with them? I’m very disappointed and upset in the way Dr. Mary treated my son and I today. I’ve experienced some other situations of poor bedside manor with her in the past but today she crossed the line. I think she is burnt out with her practice and needs to seek help. She needs another doctor there to relieve her on rough days like today when she may have been having a bad day or experiencing extreme stress. I get it, we are all human however she is a PEDIATRIC doctor and if I had recorded her today her liscense would be reconsidered. This kind of hostility towards a 15 month old patient is not okay and I will not tolerate anyone treating my children in such manor. My children will never go to Dr. Mary Eslick again! Although her wait time is sometimes lengthy, she really has her best interest in the children she treats! I love how she is very homeopathic based and only prescribes medicines when absolutely necessary. She also listens to the parents concerns and tells you if your being absolutely ridiculous or if you have valid concerns. I am glad that I found a great pediatrician for my children! Mary is awesome!! Has a comforting and welcoming nature. She is super knowledgeable and I really enjoy taking my daughter to her office. The staff is very nice and helpful as well. I highly recommend her!!
