Dr. Mary E Belford

After seeing her for many visits, i finally read her notes. I was shocked on the inaccurancy of the information i had confided to her. This has impacted my healthcare from this network. While being intellegent, an inaccurate judgemental attitude does not benefit her patients.

I told her i had suffered from anxiety and panic disorder from DRIVING and she proceeded to have all of my belongings taken when forced me into the suicide watch program, when i had come to this hospital for a completely different health concern. Absolutely the worst psychiatrist i’ve met 0/5 stars.

Dr. Belford won't give me my medical records. I AM schizophrenic with manic bipolar. Dr. Belford diagnosed me as P.T.S.D.. The government has the file and will be looking into her PRACTICEs much further. Schizophrenia doesn't go away.

Good luck trying to see this woman. You could probably slit your wrists in her lobby and she’d still turn you away. This office told me my appointment was at 9:30, and then told me it was at 9:15 and I missed the whole appointment. Always on time, pleasant, listens. Have been seeing her for more years than I can count.

I was 22 years old, and this doctor didn't respect my rights and illegally divulged my information to people I didn't want to associate with. Furthermore, I was wrongly diagnosed by this doctor. Also, no psychiatric professional that I have interacted with growing up ever prescribed antipsychotics to me. However, I agreed to try it, but I told her that it gave me the worst depression and side effects. My experience was so horrible; I couldn't even get out of bed; I felt an incredible amount of pain. She told me to take it for two weeks for my body to acclimate to the medication, so I followed her instruction and took medicine for two weeks; it was so painful for me. When I asked if I could get off of it or try something new, she told me in a very unempathetic way that I was ill, and she continued to push me to take it. Moreover, I went into an outpatient program, and she even placed me into a drug rehabilitation program despite my showing her of legitimately prescribed prescription bottles of Adderall. I had to get my doctor from a different state to print out all of my prescriptions and diagnosis. Plus, she tried to make me believe that I was this ill drug addict when I've never done drugs in my life; I even showed her a drug hair follicle test. Zero empathy for patients (desensitization to the core). In my teens, she falsely diagnosed me with Bi Polar disorder, then tried to give me medication by pharmaceutical companies that compensated her (there is a website which tells you the name of the company, and the amount they compensated a doctor with, to prescribe their medications). She’s never late, always attentive, and is great with not over medicating.

This Dr. Is Ice cold, No human touch at all, very poor communication. I know Kankakee county has a major shortage in Psychiatrists, It's sad to see one of those do such a poor disservice to their patients.

I have been with Dr Belford for many years. She has always had an open ear.

Best caring professional doctor around!!

I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews about Dr Belford. I have been seeing her for almost a year now and really enjoy our visits. She has been a great Doctor and very helpful. If you are looking for a THERAPIST then that is who you speak with regarding therapy. She does her job very well, and I will continue to see her. Very short wait which was nice, until i met this Dr. I was blown away how she treated me. Did not ask many questions about my condition, did not make much eye contact, never left her desk. Seems like this Dr. Needs to go on vacation.

One of the worst Doctors I have ever encountered. No wonder her wait is so short, she is so unprofessional and rude, she has nobody to treat. She needs to learn to get out from behind her desk and greet people with some warmth and compassion. Very lazy!!!

Did not spend enough time with my child. Very impatient and rude. Molly who I believe is the intake nurse was the only bright spot.

Worst psychiatrist I have ever meet or worked with. I am a psychiatric RN, Certified in Mental Health. I also suffer with depression so am a mental health patient as well. I have experience from both sides. I have never experienced such incompetence, such rash judgments, refusal to listen to the patient in any other personal or professional encounters. She has a lot of people fooled. Always make sure you get copies of her reports. She has put inaccurate information in my records.

I walked into her office for the very first time. She did not get up from her desk or gave a greeting. I felt like someone who was walking into the principles office. Her demeanor was very off putting and cold, seemed like she was very burned out at her job. I started to tell her my symptoms. While talking, she kept on making facial expressions that seemed negative and sarcastic. Will never use her again.

I have been seeing Dr. Belfort for at least 15 years. She is always a good listener and she is so professional. I would highly recommend her to my family and friends.

I would strongly urge you to find a doctor who has more personality, and a caring attitude toward the family and patient. My daughter has been treated for a very long time by Dr. Belford, she is bi-polar, and problems as to taking medicine, getting her properly medicated, and Dr. Belford doesn't want to spend more than 2 minutes listening to anyone, and decided after taking care of my daughter for years, to have her staff call to tell me she won't treat her anymore because she won't take meds.
