Mark N Wu

I have been a patient of Dr. Wu for 5 years. He diagnosed me with 2 sleep disorders. I wasn’t aware of the second sleep disorder until my first appointment with him as he was the one who suggested it is a possibility. I had previous visits with other doctors (who were not in the sleep disorder speciality) and I felt my symptoms and my concerns were never taken seriously. I cried after I left my first appointment with Dr. Wu. It was such a relief to finally have a doctor who took my symptoms and concerns seriously! 5 years later and I still have nothing but wonderful things to say about him! I can send him a message through My Chart with any questions or any concerns I may have. He has always messaged me back or called me in very timely manner. Even if my concerns were off base or irrelevant he has always listened and explained in detail why he didn’t agree but we always came up with a solution together. Doctor was a waste of time. He didn't agree with what several other neurologists, including a world leader in sleep medicine, who diagnosed me with a condition bc it didn't fit into a neat little list in his books. He sees a formula, not a human beings with differences in presentation. Despite his ordered sleep study showing rapid onset of REM and falling asleep for 4/5 MLSTs and ALSO IN-BETWEEN the MLST's, he decided that I don't have Hypersomnia bc I didn't fall asleep right away (why would I? I don't have narcolepsy!) and bc of that one nap in five where I stayed awake, and bc they don't count when I couldn't even stay awake between naps! I wasn't able to get any treatment, it was a waste of time and money. He also walked out in the middle of the appointment for like 20 minutes and his reason was that "there's an interesting patient". At first he seemed like he was truly interested in treating my condition. After a few months went by, it was impossible to get him to reply to any messages or answer any questions. My advice to anyone who might be thinking about seeing him is to be careful what you’re getting yourself into.
