Excellent Orthopedic Surgeon, and one of the most down to earth genuine physicians I have ever met. Dr Mighell did my reverse total shoulder replacement a little while back and I couldn’t be happier. He is one of the few surgeons that actually sits down and talks to you and makes you feel at ease, especially with a somewhat invasive surgery like a total replacement. All of his staff is top notch and caring. I highly recommend Doctor Mark Mighell.

I had an injury roughly 12 years ago and was told that I would need a replacment in the future. Injured my shoulder again (golf) Went the first Dr at anthother practice, he first said I needed a Full Shoulder Replacment, then changed it to a Particle Replacment. Thinking he was the Doctor and knew what he was doing. Had the surgery and after 8 months of theropy could not raise my arm at a 90 degree level. And still sore! Went back and he said nothing he could do and to live with it, a gave me shot of cortizone. Afer a couple of days of stewing over the non repair. I contacted Dr Mighell's office. Made the appointmet. Dr Mighell said I should have had a full replacment after his review. He did the replacment. After 5 months my shoulder was like new. I have better flexibility than I have had in 20 years. 18 months later. I am sleeping, playing a little golf, and doing what I want. Even raise my hand stright up at 180 degrees. I can not recomend a better Doctor and staff.

Terrific experience

Dr. Mighell has operated on both of my shoulders. He did a great job on both! I recommend him to anyone thats considering a rotator cuff repair.

Dr. Mighell is an incredible surgeon and a wonderful, caring doctor. He’s patient, doesn’t rush you and answers all of your questions. He operated on my shoulder, and I’m still amazed at how little pain I had. His entire staff was so friendly, helpful and compassionate as well. His nurse, Rita, was always so sweet and guided us through the whole process of the “before and after surgery”, and she too always responded quickly to questions you had. Should you need a shoulder or elbow surgeon, Dr. Mighell is the absolute best!!

I never saw Dr Mighell. I saw his Fellow Dr Davis and I really liked him.

Googled several orthos, and chose Dr. Mighell based on the ratings. However, after waiting an hour, saw his PA who referred me to another ortho in their practice with an opening 26 days out. Although PA seemed fine, I would have preferred to see Dr. Mighell, whom I had researched and was scheduled to see.

Very nice & to the point of problem. Knew problem right then. Nice experience.

Dr. Mighell and staff are wonderful. They are kind, caring, and extremely skilled. I travel 2 hours and would never go anywhere else. They are always willing to help even if you have a difficult, chronic problem. They always keep up on the latest techniques. I highly recommend this physician. Rita and Gemecka are also fantastic.

Was referred to Dr Mighell (pronounced Miles :-)) due to ongoing shoulder/neck pain. The office is very efficient at screening patients, getting imaging done on-site etc. Dr. Mighell explained the issue with my neck and took the time to answer all my questions even though it was a busy day. I would recommend Florida Orthopedic Institute for anybody seeking orthopedic care as I have had nothing but positive experiences with them in the past. In regards to Dr. Mighell, again I would definitely recommend him for anyone seeking care for shoulder injuries.

Dr. Mighell was thorough, straight-forward and helpful in discussing my options regarding the pain in my left shoulder. I am confident that I will be able to make an informed decision about next steps and receive the best care possible from him and his staff.

I would give 10 stars if I could. Dr Mighell was able to accomodate my unplanned shoulder surgery (a bad break that needed a plate) after Christmas and at a time when many are overbooked or out for holiday. I am now 5 months postop and almost at 100% use of my shoulder - confident that I will get to 100%. He brings not only expertise but also takes the time to explain in a gentle & caring style. I HIGHLY recommend.

I have a total shoulder replacement by Dr. Mighel. After I completed rehab and up to now, 4 years later, my shoulder is fully functional as if it were my natural shoulder. Sometimes I have to think twice to know which shoulder was actually replaced. 100% full function and no pain!!!! Alan Caron

I fortunately met Dr Mighell for my total reverse shoulder replacement. He asked me if I was ready and I said yes. My surgery was the last week of December and now halfway thru April I have played Golf already. I almot have full range, the only thing I can't do is move my operated shoulder behind my back as high as I can my non-operative. All other range above my head to the side is just like my non operative shoulder. The way he does his procedure I think has a more rapid recovery than most. My Pysical Therapist couldn't believe the range that I have in such a short time. Kudos to my therapist at SunCity, Don and Luna as well they are great. I would recomend Dr. Mighell to anyone that needs a great Orthopedic Dr. His bedside mannor is exceptional and second to none. I am now shoulder strong. After a fall that resulted in tearing my ball out of the socket and breaking it in 3 place and a botched repair in Lakeland I was recommended to Dr Mighell by a former patient he did a reverse shoulder replacement 1yr ago, he is magnificent. I never even took a pain pill. After a year of suffering with pain, now I'm pain free and living my life normally. Thank you to him and his staff. Best there is in my book.

Dr. Mighell is the consummate professional. He is always upbeat and courteous and a pleasure to be around. He helped me with an out of town accident I suffered and I will be eternally grateful. Thx Doc!

Dr Mighell was the most kind compassionate and caring person. My broken arm didn't heal right & I was told I had a torn rotor cuff & shoulder replacement. I am still having pain but Dr Mighell told me that surgery would only make things worst. So, happy I found a Dr that was upfront with me. Wished I had found him sooner. I am a seasonal residents of FL & wish there were more Dr's like him. I was very pleased with his services.

My visit with Mighell was excellent. I am a seasonal resident of FL & wished I had found a Dr like him back home. I have a broken arm that didn't heal right. After several Dr's I was told I had a big rotor cuff tear & needed that repaired with a possibility iof total shoulder replacement. Dr Mighell was very kind, compassionate and so very caring. He recommended no surgery that it would only cause more problems. If you want a good honest Dr go to him. So glad I did!

The physical therapist was amazed when I showed up only 3 weeks post-op and could do so many exercises with relative ease. Recovery was fast. I was told several years ago to delay my shoulder replacement because of the incredible pain and discomfort. I researched and was referred to Dr. Mighell for the surgery. After talking to him and his team, I was convinced that he was my surgeon. Well, he exceeded my expectations. His nurse Rita followed up daily after the surgery. I never really had pain that Tylenol would not relieve.. I was in rehab weeks ahead of schedule. The rehab team said I broke a record in my rapid recovery. Dr. Mighell was patient , informative and compassionate doctor who took the time to answer all of my questions as well as my wife’s at our Pre-Operative office visit. Dr. Mark Mighell is a KIND, BRILLIANT & GIFTED shoulder surgeon & his support team is ‘SECOND-TO-NONE’!! It’s my pleasure & my honor to leave this 5 Star Review. I’m 68 yrs. & in need of a right (& eventually, a left) Total REVERSE Shoulder Replacement due to 2 past Traumatic Shoulder Injuries (I broke both shoulder sockets). Had my right shoulder replaced 6/28/21. The surgery was OUT-PATIENT & took LESS than 1.5 hours. My surgery was different than the more common REVERSE Shoulder Replacement in that Dr. Mighell DID NOT CUT ANY MUSCLES in my shoulder!! Consequently, my recovery, thus far, has been nothing short of a miracle! NO over-night hospital stay; Able to shower & dress myself after 7 days; Out of the IMMOBLIZER in 11 days; Minimal pain; Could drive after 11 days (after no longer needing prescription med) & Began PT 3 weeks post-surgery!! Am 3+ weeks post-surgery and Family, Friends & I can’t believe my progress! Also, I have seen Dr. Mighell at EVERY app’t! My humble THANKS!

When I make an appointment an hour away from my house to see a specific doctor, it would be nice if I actually saw THAT doctor, not one of his colleagues. (I did get to see Mighell for about 1:30-2 minutes at the end of my appointment when I explicitly asked “am I going to see the doctor I made an appointment with or not?” The servicing doctor responded “yeah we can get him in here to say “hi.” The whole experience at Florida orthopedic institute in Tampa was an unpleasant one. Seeing Dr. Mighell was not worth the time, effort or anxiety in my opinion. He gives off the vibe he wasn’t interested in me or my shoulder problem at all. After hearing great reviews from people he has performed surgery on, I was extremely disappointed by his services. Went in today with major shoulders pain. The office ran like a smooth machine and Dr. Mighell was awesome ,well he did the shot and I didn’t even feel anything, literally I felt nothing even though it was going into my painful shoulders. Highly recommend .

I came to D. MIGELL with a arm broke in 4 places that had been repaired once but that Dr didn't follow thru correctly, so I had all the metal removed by a great Dr. In Vegas but due to Covid and other circumstances i had to move to Fl. Dr.Kam referred me to an amazing Dr. He repaired my arm in july and to this day i am doing great.so i totally recommend Dr. Mighell at Florida Orthopedic in Tampa I came to D. Thanks to Dr. Mighell and his wonderful team, I no longer have any pain in my left shoulder. My joint replacement surgery was a complete success, and a great experience.

I came to see Dr. Mighell for a distal bicep tendon rupture. Being a Sheriff Deputy during my first visit, I was very nervous about the situation I was in. After speaking with Dr. Mighell, I knew I was in good hands. He is knowledgeable and a very experienced orthopedic surgeon. He explained in detail of what to expect pre and post-surgery and how it would affect my recovery time. After the surgery Dr. Mighell took the time to personally call me at home to make sure I was doing ok. My arm post-surgical is great, I lost little to no function. The recovery was quick, and after 6 weeks I was able to lift light weights again with no brace. Being told at the age of 40 that I needed to have my shoulder replaced (by 3 different surgeons) was hard to hear. However my decision to see Dr. Mighell was the best decision I could have made. He immediately saw from my x-rays that a full replacement I was too young for, so he recommended the Simpliciti system and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Mighell and his staff were excellent from day 1 and took care of me like I was family. Here I am at my 1 year checkin, and I am told that I have zero restrictions. Can I take a fall? Dr. Mark Mighell changed my life through his incredibly skillful surgery of my left shoulder replacement. I have almost the same flexibility and movement as my non-surgical shoulder. Even the large incision on my shoulder was straight and has healed very nicely. I was in so much pain in the arthritic shoulder and had suffered with this for over five years as the shoulder movement continued to become more restricted. In addition to Dr. Mighell's surgical skills, he is a very kind man that exudes confidence in his skills as a surgeon and self assurance to the patient. Dr. Mark Mighell is a miracle worker in my estimation. After a series of tests, he determined that I would require a total shoulder replacement to deal with my extreme pain and loss of motion. I had the surgery two weeks ago and already I feel like I have my life back. I will require physical therapy soon and I am convinced that I will be 100% in three months. If anyone reading this review is dealing with shoulder pain, lack of strength and mobility, do yourself a favor and contact Dr. Mighell. I have had rotator cuff surgery on my right arm a few years ago in another state. I really dreaded having the same surgery on my left arm. I had 3 doctor opinions. I immediately felt that Dr. Mighell would be the best. I had my surgery August 2020 and I couldn't be more pleased. I stayed on the circulating ice machine and I only took the pain pills for 2-3 days. I was walking on the beach day 3 for several miles each day. I will tell you I was pleasant surprised at how well my surgery went and the lack of pain. I was truly anticipating 6 weeks of H***. I am now 8 months out and I feel great - I am at probably 95% . I takes a full 12 months to get to 100% but I am very pleased. He has always been very friendly, answers all questions I have with each of my follow-ups. I have been a body builder for the last 30 years before i dislocated my left shoulder which Dr, Mighell rebuilt (complete reverse replacement) giving me back my lifestyle and the gym. But the most amazing part,,, my 1st visit meeting him, x-rays, consulting, operation set and out in 3 hours. He knew how important to regain the use of my arm and back in the gym meant. I had a total should replacement in June, 2019 by a good surgeon in Ocala. Long story short, I ended up with a bacterial infection in the bone which was not diagnosed until January of this year, because two I & D’s did not find the infection. February, the prosthetic was removed and I was on IV meds for 6 weeks. My surgeon told us in the hospital that he would not be doing the replacement & was sending me to the best shoulder surgeon he knew as this was out of his comfort zone. I had a revised replacement on 5/3 and found out at my 2 week check-up my should was dislocated. Yesterday, I had my 6th surgery, to fix the dislocation and Dr. Mighell put the largest ball in. I came home today, with moderate pain. This surgeon, his APRN and PA, Stacey & Leticia, and Rita and Elise are all top notch. Dr. Mighell is caring and down to earth and I am extremely happy with my outcome so far! Great care at Carrolwood Hospital as well!

Dr. Michell did an outstanding job on my elbow. I was surprised how much motion I had after surgery. He is wonderful and explained everything to me throughout the process. His staff is amazing and always responded to my calls and questions.

Dr. Mighells is the BEST! When other doctors recommend surgery, I urge you to see Dr. Mighells. That’s what I did & he recommended that I wear a sling & allow my broken bones to heal naturally. I’m his biggest fan. His advice worked for me twice - this past month when I broke my collarbone & once before, several years ago, when I broke my shoulder. And if I ever need surgery, Dr. Mighells will be the one to do it. We are so lucky to have such exceptional medical care at our fingertips in Tampa Bay. The entire staff is efficient, compassionate & professional. I will be starting Physical Therapy to loosen up my shoulder muscles (after a month in a sling) and I know from past PT experience at FOI with my shoulder that the therapists will do their magic. This is my second time seeing Dr. Mark Mighell and as expected it went very well. 6 years ago he did a total reverse shoulder on my right shoulder and what a difference that made. I am pain free with full range of motion. Todays visit was for the left shoulder. I am scheduled for a total left shoulder in May. Dr. Mighell is an incredible surgeon and a great guy. I spent 41 years in healthcare and I can say he is one of the very best orthopedic surgeons I have met. I highly recommend Dr. Mighell.

In July 2020, Dr. Mighell repaired a torn rotator cuff and fracture with extremely successful orthopedic surgery. Despite what I had been warned, once the nerve block wore off (within less than 2 days), I never experienced even a hint of post-surgical pain in that area! Additionally, because of his expertise in stitching the incisions made during surgery, one cannot tell anything was ever done! He then referred me to the PT department there at South Tampa, where I have been under the care and guidance of physical therapist Mike Fisher. Mike also worked with me for a while on some balance issues I was having. Considering his young age (31) and limited years in practice, I cannot give him enough praise! It has been obvious from the start that he has a natural gift for his profession, and one would think he has been doing this for years. I visited Dr. Mighell and he recommended me replacing my shoulder. I was surprise that they can do that, I was scared at first after seeing the picture of those metals they going to implant in my body, but the doctor inspired me with confidence. In the afternoon of the same day of the surgery, I was at home with my arm immobilized but without pain and as if nothing had happened. Two days later I felt discomfort, but with the medications the doctor prescribed, pain calmed down. Today, I can sleep without pain and I return to my normal activities, I play tennis, throw darts and return to my social dancing. I am 65-year-old man, working my life in construction, I love to dance Tango, Salsa, Bachata, or any music style and thanks to one doctor, one decision and Gods help, my life change for better. Dr. Mighell repaired my my torn bicep and enabled me to completely regain the use of my arm. After diagnosing my injury, he throughly explained the procedure to repair it and answered all my questions. He also continued to communicate closely with me throughout the course of my treatment . Dr. Mighell is the "go to" physician for elbows and shoulders in the Tampa Bay area because of his skill and caring.

Dr. Mighell is excellent. I am an attorney who had major shoulder surgery over 20 years ago and still enjoy full range of motion and full use of my shoulder.

I saw Dr. Mighell in early May to address the pain in my right shoulder which was due to Osteoarthritis . He recommended shoulder replacement surgery which I had in early July. My left elbow surgery went so well that my wife asked me to build a patio in the backyard. The initial concrete patio stone was set on March 13, 2020. It took 4 months and 27 days to set 404 patio stones. Each stone weighs 31.70 lbs. I had to lift each stone by hand at least four times and some stones had to be lifted as many as six or seven times. This is approximately 66,000 lbs. or 33 tons!!! All is well!!!! Thanks Doc -- I guess

I am writing this five days postop reverse shoulder surgery. I am a Very active person unfortunately in a bicycle accident that shattered my shoulder. This was basically my only option that would allow me to eventually one day get back into the activity levels I enjoy. I know this is going to be a long process however I feel I am in the best hands with both Dr. Mighell and Rita who both have been truly amazing through this extremely hard and difficult time for myself. I feel they definitely will help me come on the other side of this a much stronger person both physically and mentally. I’m excited to get through this journey and I have the most professional people to back me up. Their staffers are so amazing and very compassionate and knowledgeable.

I had got a frozen shoulder from overuse & developed agonizing pain & was unable to even move my arm. I called Florida Ortho & was seen the same day by Dr Mark Mighells . I came to see Dr. Mighell for a distal bicep tendon rupture. Being a Sheriff Deputy during my first visit, I was very nervous about the situation I was in. After speaking with Dr. Mighell, I knew I was in good hands. He is knowledgeable and a very experienced orthopedic surgeon. He explained in detail of what to expect pre and post-surgery and how it would affect my recovery time. After the surgery Dr. Mighell took the time to personally call me at home to make sure I was doing ok. My arm post-surgical is great, I lost little to no function. The recovery was quick, and after 6 weeks I was able to lift light weights again with no brace. He has an outstanding team working with him and they have been great throughout the entire process beginning to end.

Went in today with major shoulder pain. The office ran like a smooth machine and Dr. Mighell was awesome. I was worried about needed a steroid shot, well he did the shot and I didn’t even feel anything, literally I felt nothing even though it was going into my painful shoulder. I had first rotatory cuff surgery 15 years ago and have been largely debilitated since. I was barely able to lift my hand above my head and had very limited lateral mobility. I recently had a total shoulder replacement. Dr. Mark Mighell is wonderful. He has a great bedside manner and takes the time to answer any questions I had. His nurse Rita McKnight is outstanding. I called her cell phone several times after my surgery with some problems I was having and she called me right back even late at night. What a terrific person. He couldn't have a more concerned nurse for his patients than her. I would highly recommend this staff and this institute for anyone needing shoulder surgery. FABULOUS!

I had been seeing Dr Mighell for a couple of years and in November 2019 I had shoulder replacement surgery. Dr Mighell and his nurse Rita took such good care of me that I was confident and completely prepared for the surgery. They made me feel that I could call them with any concerns I may have and I know that the good results I have had after the surgery is because of how well the surgery was done, and how good my physical therapist Debbie Reiger was. Debbie encouraged me every step of the way and she was in contact with Dr Mighell and Rita giving them updates on my progress. Excellent team! At my first appointment with Dr. Mighell I knew that I was in good hands. He is a brilliant, gifted surgeon and a compassionate, caring person. Dr. Mighell gave me back my right shoulder – My life! If I had not had the Reverse Shoulder Implant surgery, I would have had a lifeless, useless shoulder. My shoulder range of motion post-operatively is not perfect, but I am able to do the things I need to do for this phase of my life. The surgery requires a long recovery process, but I would do it all over again. I thank God for Dr. Mighell every day. He also has an outstanding team working with him. We were told by, my orthopedist, Dr. Mighell is one of three Doctors in the state of Florida that would be able to help me if he could, he was at the top of the list. During the pre-op appointment at the hospital several professionals sang his praises. How patients came from all over for him to help them. The professional that shows how good he is Dr. Mighell himself, kind, down to earth, dedicated to his craft and shares his gift with younger Dr's just starting out. He explains what the problem is and what can be done, for you the patient. His staff is professional and all have been patient with all question that pop up. Dr. would be the first I would recommend to other persons and return to if I needed his help again.

Dr. Mighell did a fine job repairing the full tear of the supraspinatus tendon in my shoulder. It has only been three months, and I already have mostly pain free full range of motion. I have been diligent stretching and doing my rehab exercises and will comment again after strength training and am able to play golf again.
