I went to Dr. Markarian for a rhinoplasty surgery. I am more than pleased with the results! He used his skills to keep me looking like the same person, while still changing the bump in my bridge and the tip of my nose. He and his office administrators were very timely and responsive. Dr Markarian also made me feel extremely comfortable and relaxed throughout the process. He always answered any questions and gave thorough explanations. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Markarian for your plastic surgery!

After reviewing different surgeons work and approach, I choose Dr. Markarian for my rhinoplasty. My focus was on trusting the surgeon and I wanted a natural result for my nose. I had a great experience with Dr. Markarian from the consultation through to the follow up. Definitely recommend!

Dr. Markarian was the plastic surgeon on call at Emerson Hospital when my daughter fell and put a tooth through her lip. Dr. Markarian came and did an exceptional job stitching her lip. He was very matter of fact, provided excellent communication, and was compassionate toward anxious parents. He told us he didn't think her lip would scar even after putting in 15 stitches. We doubted him at first, but now, two weeks post procedure, we can hardly tell she had any trauma to the area. Great doctor! You're in great hands with him. I am a 61 year old man who has struggled with “man boobs” all my life. I finally had the courage to do something about it and after doing my research it was clear to me that Dr. Markarian was the only Dr that I wanted to preform the surgery. Truly one of the most disappointing experiences with any plastic surgeon I’ve ever met with. I was looking forward to working with Dr. Markarian for more than a year. My initial consult was in April 2021 for a rhino-septoplasty, but I had to unexpectedly put my surgery plans on hold for a while. Fast forward to April 2022, I reached out to the office again to get things moving along. I had a second virtual & in-office consult and was confident in my decision to move forward with Dr. Markarian. At the second in-office visit, I met with Kate after seeing Dr. Markarian. I let her know I was ready to put the deposit that day and schedule the surgery. She told me that she couldn’t proceed until I got approval from my PCP that I could go under anesthesia. I’ve never had any surgery before, so I trusted her instructions. When I called my PCP, they told me that they couldn’t see me until I had the procedure booked. I called Kate back for clarification on the process. She was the rudest, most disrespectful person I have ever spoken to at any business. I understand that mistakes/miscommunications can happen, but the way she spoke to me was very unprofessional. She kept repeatedly talking over me and treated me like I was stupid. She then told me that I need to put in a deposit before she could schedule. I said I was ready to do so but wanted to know what dates Dr. Markarian had available, or at least a general idea. She couldn’t give me any dates and told me she can’t look at the schedule until I put the deposit in. She was awful to deal with. I was really upset with how I was treated, so I emailed Casey and asked to speak to someone else about booking. Casey scheduled a call with Dr. Markarian for that evening, but then she had to immediately cancel it. The following morning, Kate called and told me that I should find another surgeon. When I asked why, she said it was because I couldn’t work with her, and that I asked too many questions. I was in complete shock that this was a reason. First of all, I am not there for her - I am there for Dr. Markarian. Second, surgery is a major decision, and I should have my questions answered by both the doctor and staff, especially if I’m dropping nearly $20K. I told her that I wanted to speak to Dr. Markarian, since Kate acts like she owns the practice. To my surprise, Dr. Markarian called me back. I asked him directly if he still wanted to work together, and he said yes. I told him that I was ready to put the deposit down that day. He said he’d have his staff call me back. No one called, and I was not going to chase after them. I am upset that things turned out this way, especially since I waited so long and was looking to have 4 different procedures with him over the next 1-2 years. Many of Dr. Markarian’s negative reviews are about his staff, especially Kate. If he wants to keep her around, that’s obviously his problem. However, he should reconsider who’s dealing with potential new patients for the sake of his business. Dr. Markarian may be a good surgeon, but the way he runs his business is unprofessional. I probably dodged a bullet with this office. If it was difficult to get the procedure booked and I “asked too many questions” then I can’t imagine what a nightmare it would be to deal with them if I had any post-op concerns/issues. I'm sure Dr. Markarian is a wonderful doctor but I've been trying to communicate with his office to book a consultation for months and it's been ineffective communication from day one. The first time I tried to book months ago I messaged quite a few times and received no response at all. This time after a couple messages I was able to book...but then there was no communication about how I would be contacted for the consultation. I checked my email, my calendar for invites, my phone for calls, nothing. 10 minutes after the consultation should have started I received a text from Dr. Markarian asking if my phone number was the right one for me and I responded that it was and then...nothing. Dr Markarian is a good person and an amazing surgeon. I had a breast atrophy and had chosen implants but I ended up wanting them removed. I was very anxious about the whole procedure but I felt safe with Dr Markarian. I'm truly baffled by all the stellar reviews on Google, not sure if they are legit. Went to a pre-surgery consultation, paid $150 and had worst experience. Doctor rushed through the in-person consult, 15m max, and to top it off the staff is another major concern. This practice needs a more qualified staff to offer better customer service, they don't respond to questions or concerns you may have. However to get your $150 they respond quickly to engage you in coming in. Once you get the process started you will have to deal with his staff, (KATE) awful person, rude, discriminates patients. "Words can't explain to tell you how bad of a customer service this practice haves . I still don't understand how a well educated professional as Dr. Markarian has such an awful unprofessional staff. I was apprehensive about my daughter getting a rhinoplasty but was promptly reassured by Dr. Markarian and felt supported throughout the entire process by his terrific team. I have been waiting for a answer to a question I had for Dr Markarian regarding post opp scarring for a few months now. Dr. Markarian is by far the most compassionate healthcare professional I have ever worked with. I initially saw him over 4 1/2 years ago when he was brought into the ER as the on-call surgeon to repair lacerations on my face sustained after a trauma. Let’s start with the words SPECIAL GIFT. Dr. Markarian has been given a gift, a gift of his hands for surgery, a gift of his vision with each patient and the gift of maintaining professionalism and perfection. He recently performed a breast reduction on me, a huge surgery and a surgery that requires precision. I was hesitant and frankly scared as it was my very first time being put to sleep. From the moment I met Dr. Markarian he put my mind at ease, he answered every question I asked, even when I asked the same question multiple times and made me feel so comfortable. He took his time to explain every detail about the surgery. His professional demeanor and work ethic are unmatched. He is no joke in the operating room and the staff at the hospital echoed that! The nurses the day of surgery sung his praises and reiterated I couldn't be in better hands. He is focused and determined to make each patient have the best experience possible because he cares about his patients. The procedures he does are so routine for him as this is his job yet he never made me feel like I was just another patient. My surgery was done at Nashoba Valley hospital and at one point I asked him “if something goes wrong because that is a smaller hospital are they equipped to handle it?” Without hesitation he answer me and gave me 3-4 reasons why he chooses to operate in a hospital setting and specifically in that hospital. We all know doctors we wouldn’t send our dogs too and that’s why doing your research is so important, especially in elective surgeries. Dr. Markarian is in a league of his own. From his bedside manner to his staff and most importantly to the work of art he performs daily in surgery is something you don’t find with every surgeon or practice. I couldn’t be happier with my results and how he has changed my life. On a side note, surgeons are on their feet for several hours at a time and it’s important their legs and feet are supported properly, Dr. Markarian hands down has the best footwear EVER! I'm not going to post a photo...yet because I am 2 weeks post op. I wanted to write this review because trusting someone to transform your face is SCARY. I get Botox and lip fillers and I asked my injector if she knew a surgeon she could trust and recommend for rhinoplasty. She gave me Mark's name after her aesthetic FB group had multiple recommendations for him with nothing bad to say. I've been self conscious of my nose for a long time but never thought I would be able to change it. Recovery to see your forever nose after surgery is slow. And at times frustrating because after spending the money, recover time and discomfort - you want to see all his hard work complete. 80% of the swelling goes down after 3 weeks. I am 2 weeks into recovery. Even though I am very anxious to see my forever nose, this swelling is kind of a blessing because my new small nose is swollen to the point, that it just looks like my "old" nose. So no one actually can tell I had anything done! Now the swelling will go down super slow and the change will not be drastic for anyone I see on a regular basis. They won't be able to say "wow!" until they see a before and after side by side. That all being said, my profile is already significantly improved, what once was a downward tip angle, is now a slight turned up cute angle. And my nostrils used to be uneven making the tip of my nose point one way instead of straight on. I'm pretty much symmetrical now! I can't believe it! Consultations, surgeries, great. Trying to schedule an appointment to get my dog ears taken care of- I have been told for over 14 weeks now that 'we will get you scheduled.' I am moving the end of next week but I feel that because I have already given them my money, I am 'up the creek without a paddle' so to speak. Back on Friday night June 12, a bad wood working accident which almost severed my husbands ring and pinky finger. We immediately rushed him to the nearest ER and cleaned out the wounds but no surgeon available that evening. Therefore, a call was made to Dr. Mark Markarian late that evening for him to come in early Saturday morning for emergency surgery for a partial amputation. After seeing Mark for several follow-up appts following the surgery, while we were talking he informed me that he was supposed to be some place else on that Saturday. When I asked for more details, he stated that he and his partner were opening up a jazz club in Springfield, MA. This was huge ordeal as the Mayor was having a ribbon cutting ceremony to open the club which Mark opted out of to perform my surgery. Not only is Mark a dedicated and talented surgeon but he is a kind and wonderful human being. He is just an all around nice guy who cares about the wellbeing of his patients. Dr. Markarian is great! Since I was a kid I always had larger upper arms that made me feel embarrassed and ashamed. I finally decided I wanted to make a change and after working on constantly didn't work, I decided to explore plastic surgery. Dr. Markarian was kind, understanding, and a pleasure to talk to. He was able to answer any question I had and even helped me with cost concerns. I ended up receiving liposuction and jplasma. The surgery went great and overall I'm very happy with my results. Initially I waited 2+ hours in the parking lot for my consultation to be greeted by rude staff & pompous Dr. Following this the consult, I still continued with trying to secure a surgery date. Kate never returns emails or calls and does not give accurate answers to any questions and lies because she forgets to do things. Kate and Dr Mark's staff are not nice and are the least organized/professional business I have ever been in contact with. For such serious surgeries, I expect exceptional staff & process - not a good look and definitely doesn't make me feel comfortable booking. UPDATE: After requesting a 3 month follow up (one was not automatically scheduled) with him in Oct 2020, and the need for a revision was discussed, due to hip deformities he left me with during surgery, everything changed. Initially, I was told he would take care of it, I would have to pay $3,500 for the revision. Not thrilled because I already paid almost $15k... but okay. I was told at this 3 month follow up they were going to check my insurance, and submit a pre-approval request, to see if a revision would be covered, and they would get back to me within 1-2 days. A week later, I reached out and was told they were waiting on the insurance companies response. 3 weeks later I reached out again and received the same answer. I called my insurance company and was told they hadn't received anything from the doctor. I again called Dr. Markarian's office and was told they were waiting on insurance...so I wait. 6 weeks later, I called my insurance company again and still, they hadn't received anything from the doctor. At this point, I did a three-way call with Dr. Markarian's staff, and while we were on the phone my insurance agent asked for any information that would them locate this request they "submitted" and the rep from his office said she "didn't have my file" and couldn't get any of that. Just admit you didn't submit it! Then they closed down in December due to COVID restrictions in the state. When they opened back up in March of 2021 for surgeries, I reached back out asking to get a date for surgery. Not demanding I be the first one seen, but asking for a date. "It'll be a slow rollout, we'll let you know in a month." Fast forward another 6 weeks, I send a follow up email to his staff asking for an update to see if I can get a date. This time I get no response (it's been weeks since my last email). I am not calling multiple times a day, I am contacting them every 3-6 weeks...and now am no longer getting a response?!? In a last ditch attempt, I text Dr. Markarian directly, and send him pictures of the very noticeable hip deformities I have (anyone with eyes is going to notice), explaining I'm just looking for a surgery date. No response to my text either!!! I've been very understanding with his office, especially due to covid, but I'm done. At this point, I am not going to be going back to Dr. Markarian and I don't recommend him to anyone! I am currently having consults with other board certified plastic surgeons and am looking at a hefty price tag to fix the damage he left me with. I had a consult with this doctor twice and the first time it took 1.5 hours to be seen, I felt like I was at MG pediatrics. The doctor was nice but I ended up deciding to do surgery in Miami instead. Fast forward several months later, covid takes over and messes up my surgery plans in Miami so I decided to go Back and see this doctor. Again, I’m waiting 60min to Be Seen mind you no one was able to come in to the office and you basically had to wait in your car until it was ok. I got fed up, if you’re going to schedule someone at a specific time there should not B delay, esp an hour. I’m not even going to mention how rude the receptionist was hanging up on me. I left and they called me an hour and a half later to come in finally, so I technically would have waited 2.5 Hours for a consult if I waited in that parking lot. Eventually we ended up doing a virtual call and I just felt like the doctor wasn’t even trying to Sell me on it and made other rude comments. I didn’t feel like they wanted my money nor did I feel welcome. I eventually did get surgery at coastal plastics with Dax G and am so damn happy I did. He went through the Arreola which no one else seemed to know how to do and my recovery was Unheard off it was so quick and not that bad at all!. My recommendation to people looking to do this type of surgery Is to see atleast 3 doctors in person and see who truly cares about taking care of you and helping you look your best and not trying to pick The first guy with a shiny metal on google. Outside of making me feel comfortable, listened to, and taken care of, his surgical skills are mind blowing. My nose was in awful shape, breathing was worsening month by month, and its appearance was twisted and deformed. When my cast came off a few days ago I was blown away by how amazing it looks. I had a severe hand accident due to a snowblower this past winter. As a result, I lost part of my middle finger. It happened on a Saturday, and the ER doctor called Dr. Makarian, who traveled up from Boston to Newburyport to treat my injuries within two hours. From the moment he came in, I knew I was in good hands. He is genuine, empathetic, and caring. He explained what he was going to do and how he was going to treat my two fingers. He was direct and straightforward about how he would operate on my middle finger and what he would do to treat my mangled index finger. I always felt I was in expert care. Post-operation, his follow-up appointments were excellent. He always made a point to ask me how I was doing, providing reassurance, and was incredibly diligent in ensuring my hand was healing as best it could. My hand will never be the same, but Dr. Markarian's care ensured I had the best recovery possible. I am missing the top of my middle finger, but it has healed incredibly well.

I was always insanely insecure about my nose for as long as I can remember. I was affected by it mentally and it held me back on a social level. So when I found Dr. Markarian and saw his male rhinoplasty work, I was pumped because I knew that I could finally have my nose fixed to look the way I’ve always wanted it to look! Dr. Markarian performed a Rhinoplasty and a Septoplasty on myself for aesthetic purposes and to improve my nasal breathing. I previously had a rather thin bridge, with a prominent dorsal hump that I hated, and a nasal tip that was quite low. Dr. Markarian is an honest surgeon. I had a consultation with him for a scar revision, and he told me that he could only improve it a little bit. He didn't charge me a penny, and told me to save those $5,000! I'd recommend Dr. Markarian to anyone who needs a caring and honest plastic surgeon.

Dr Mark is fantastic and I am so grateful for his care! We went to the ER when my six year old suffered a facial wound close to her eye. Dr Mark was already there for another consult and came to examine and ultimately repair her deep and complicated wound (many subdermal stitches as well as on the surface). She was terrified about the whole thing but he immediately set us both at ease. He sat next to her on the hospital gurney and explained- honestly- about what he was going to do in a very age appropriate manner. Dr Mark took his time during the repair and was careful to make sure every stitch was perfect, adjusting if needed and explaining all along. After a serious hand injury I was taken to the ER for surgery to repair tendons and nerves in my finger. I was lucky that Dr. Markarian was the surgeon to operate. I saw Dr. Markarian several times over the last year in his Newburyport office. He was very patient with many questions I had about the aesthetic procedure I came for and provided detailed answers and recommendations. He was very thorough with his explanations and suggestions, but ultimatelly made me feel that it was my decision to pick the area I wanted to treat. My husband Bill lost the tip of one of his fingers 5 weeks ago. It was a table saw accident. I brought him to ER Norwood and after the X-ray the ER doctor called Dr Mark Markarian, a hand surgeon, to come to ER. Dr Markarian came promptly and assessed Bill’s finger. Dr Markarian cut off damaged part of finger and flipped skin over and stitched it in place with 20 stitches. Cleaned and wrapped finger up with followup instructions Had a follow up visit after injury 2 weeks later and finger healing good. Today, 5 weeks later Dr Markarian took out remaining stitches and cut off dead skin and finger improved immensely. Bill’s finger so much better. He now needs to wear no bandaid and exercise finger. Dr Markarian said that the finger will be sensitive to heat and cold and touch for a long time but it looks so much better now. Healing well. Bill and I can’t thank Dr Markarian enough for his professionalism and skill with Bill’s hand/finger surgery. I was severely bitten by a dog on my forearm and taken to Emerson ED. Dr. Markarian arrived and proceeded to apply over 200 tiny stitches which took much time. He kept me anxiety free with great conversation. After several visits to his office over a 12 week period, I finally healed. He is a terrific doctor and an amazing human being. A week ago I had an accident with a woodsplitter, rushed off to the ER. Found out I had multiple fractures and would need a lot of stitches. Dr.Mark was at another location and I waited for him to arrive. The hospital staff told us how lucky we were that Dr. Mark was coming for me! Boy they were right! Dr. Markarian is an extremely skilled and talented plastic surgeon. His warm personality made my entire experience pleasant and comfortable . I had no doubts or concerns about my procedure, because he had answered all my (at times annoying) questions. He did a breast reduction(a very difficult case) on my cousin which turned out amazing, so I knew he was a perfectionist even before I had my procedure . I went from an A cup to a full C/small D ( still in surgical bra / sports bra so haven't measured exact cup size. After the surgery I was in bed for 2-3 days but on the third day I was feeling great. The soreness was bearable, but I still recommend taking a few days off work. The results I had were amazing and I only wish I had done this sooner. I feel so lucky to have had Dr. Markarian fix my face after an unfortunate dog bit ripped open my cheek and upper lip. All of the ER nurses spoke highly of him, and when he walked in he got to work. He cleaned my wounds and reassured me I will look great afterwards. During the stitching, he showed my husband the barely visible line, reassuring me that my scarring should be minimal or non existent. My upper lip line was stitched back together seamlessly. He was calming and reassuring throughout the entire process and gave me clear discharge instructions. We saw him 10 days later in the office, and I look great! Dr. Markarian is not only wonderful at what he does he has an amazing bedside manner. My son, who is almost 2, went in to the ER for stitches this past weekend and Dr. Markarian was the plastic surgeon on call. He arrived at the hospital under the time he told them he would be in and, even though my son was not the first patient he needed to see he came in right away to make sure my son, my husband, and I were doing okay. He then proceeded to explain exactly what would happen and what we should expect. He allowed us to remain in the room while he stitched our son up and through the entirety of our ER visit made sure the three of us were doing okay and on the same page. At my son's one week check up, Dr. Markarian was friendly, caring, and made sure I had no concerns and reassured me that my son was healing great!
