Horrific he sent me a threatening letter because I used a different cataract surgeon

I had to go see Dr.Gelwan because my father was experiencing double vision in the beginning of this year.After going to the ER and ruling out major causes for the double vision (i.e stroke) we were told to go see a neuro-opthamologist.Almost all of them were giving appointments almost 2 months later .How can someone wait that long when one needs their normal functioning eyes on a daily basis? With Dr.Gelwan ,we were able to get a appointment within 2 weeks if not earlier if I remember correctly.It was a bit of a drive for us to get to the office but well worth it. Dr.Gelwan,his assistants, and his secretaries were superb and very professional. His office was very clean and modern appearing. We were able to get to the cause of double vision and this was a great relief for my father as he was very distressed by his experience. We had the best of experiences with Dr.Gelwan and his team and are thankful for their services. Dr Gelwan is awesome!! He is God sent to us. Very passionate, caring, treat me with respect, answer my questions and he listened to me attentively.he is one of a kind, my prayer is that God will bless and keep him, give him strength. He is amazing!!????????

I have a lot of faith in Dr. Gelwan. He tells me my options and explains the procedures, usually with a pamphlet also. I have been using him for many years as he was recommended by my Optometrist. He and his assistants are very warm and courteous. I have been recommending him to family and friends.

A completely substandard experience, from the staff on up. After 2 visits, the laser he was using broke while I was in the chair, even after he pealed back my cornea. Subsequently, he agreed to make up the inconvenience and discomfort in the price. After yet another office visit and a cancelled makeup date (which I took off of work for), he broke his promise and reneged on the new price. Total of 4 visits, 1 day off of work, and nothing to show for it but a flap hanging off my eyeball. Terrible.

Dr. Gelwan is fantastic. He genuinely cares about his patients and their families. His office looks fantastic especially considering it got destroyed by Superstorm Sandy. Always clean and friendly. He definitely knows his stuff and patients are always in good hands. Bravo Dr. Gelwan!
