Very direct and professional

Dr. Cohen saw me within 2 hours of my call for an appointment and performed required surgery the same week. He is top 1% surgeon in US and this efficiency is unheard of. His team is amazing! 5 star experience from start to finish!

Honest and to the point but listens to the patient and doesn’t get impatient.

Everything went well and the entire staff especially Dr Cohen was so considerate, welcoming and professional and Dr Cohen gave me hope that my condition can be improved.

Dr. Cohen quickly diagnosed my condition and then I had surgery for a bone spur and damaged tendon in elbow. Elbow is awesome now. So thankful for Mr. Cohen and his staff. Also he is very direct and funny at the same time. I hope everyone that reads this has a great day :)

My time was treated with respect. The doctor knew exactly what to do and executed with perfection.

Listened to me and thoroughly explained my condition and treatment. Very professional and respectful. Couldn't have chosen a better doctor to care for my wrist.

My care was excellent. The facility was as well. My nurse Angelina was amazing as well as the rest of the staff. Dr. Cohen is an excellent surgeon and I felt very safe in his care.

Everything was just great on my birthday, from the moment I checked in with the staff it was just so much fun. The first time I saw was for carpal tunnel release. I had been told by a neuro at Silver Cross that I didn't have carpel tunnel problems. Within two weeks after seeing Dr. Cohen, I'm in surgery. Even though I was under a nerve block, as soon as the snip was made, I had the sensation that I had fingers! I trust no one else with my hands.

My visit was very good.

Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Cohen was not positive at all. After three months of going to rehab therapy every week (following Dr. Cohen's suggestion), during the final session, Dr. Cohen told me, and I quote "I think your finger will get better. Just give it another six more weeks and then call me back". I was perplexed by the answer offered by a professional like Dr. Cohen since he knew I am in constant pain, and he just sent me back home to deal with my pain with no other suggestion than calling him back in six weeks. I find less than ideal to tell the pasient to just go home and forget about after three months of unsuccessful rehab. Finally, I would like to mention that I saw Dr. Cohen in at least three different sessions. The combined time of these sessions was no more than five minutes. I would not recommend Dr. Cohen since he seems to be a very busy doctor and made me feel that my case was not important enough and didn't deserve his time. After three months of going to rehab therapy every week (following Dr. Cohen's suggestion), during the final session, Dr. Cohen told me, and I quote, "I think your finger will get better. Very knowledgeable and clear. What impressed me was that he was able to connect extremely well with my 86 year old father. My dad said he was very friendly and answered all of his questions.

I was promised 100% recovery. I received 100% recovery. My surgery was for a “left dirsel tricep repair for tricep rupture”. My tendon was so far gone I couldn’t lift my left arm without complete lose of control as it flopped back down. Doctor Cohen is so good I would trust him, my daughter and my grandchildren with our lives. His team is competent, efficient and cordial. Top notch. Dr. Cohen’s bedside manner is pitch perfect, whether dealing with an old codger like me, a high school pitcher and anxious mom, or a professional athlete. Absolutely one of the best doctor I’ve ever met. I work in law enforcement & I was attacked. I was sent to rush hospital & he was one of my many doctor. His diagnosis was spot on even though other doctors missed it. He recommended physical therapy & other things I needed to do to get back to 100%. He showed GREAT Compassion for what I went through & even told me if there was anything else I need don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll certainly recommend him & offer nothing but gratitude to him & his staff. My experience with Dr Cohen, he was in a hurry and no bed side manner. However, I prayed and Xray technology told me he was one of the best give him another chance and I did. Now, Dr Cohen and his team is awesome and excellent. I glad I didn't pass up my opportunity to keep my culinary and writing skills without surgery. I have much love, respect for my Dr Cohen and his team.

My injury was due to a vehicle accident and I didn’t know who to select and who would see me. This Doctor allowed me to schedule and provide any paperwork needed after the visit. I was treated promptly with excellent care. Thank you Doctor Cohen for your service and dedication.

I felit very comfortable with Dr Cohen's recommended treatment. He started with a low level treatment plan that didn't require expense medicate and treatment. He help ensure that my case was not extreme, but if the recommended treatment didn't better the situation to contact immediately.

I had a minor contusion to my hand. The doctor is thorough and professional. Asked multuple questions and answered all of mine. His PA was good also. From my experience, i would recommend him.

Wow. What a great experience! Their ability to have an X-ray done, meet with their nurse practitioner, meet with the doctor, and meet with the OT all in an hour and not feel rushed but listened too was fantastic! They provided me with good news as a bonus.

Dr. Cohen is SIMPLY AMAZING. I cannot thank him enough for his expertise and dedication to patients. I broke my wrist playing tennis 3 months ago. It didn't take much googling to find out that Dr. Cohen is one of the top surgeons in the country for hand, wrist and elbow. When I called his office on a Monday evening, I didn't have high hopes of getting an appointment any time soon since he's in high demand. But when his staff heard of my situation and understood the urgency, they squeezed me in for Wednesday morning. When I arrived, his team was super helpful and highly efficient, guiding me through every step with very little wait. When Dr. Cohen walked into the exam room, he had already reviewed all the notes and imaging and was fully prepared. My case was very complex, and even I could tell from the 3D CT image that not only the wrist joint had been crushed into lots of fragments, but it had got pushed in due to the force. Dr. Cohen not only knew exactly what needs to be done, he also totally surprised me when he said he didn't want me to wait another 4 days for surgery as it's better for me to get the surgery as soon as possible. So he added me to his already full surgery schedule the next day! (He only does surgery on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So if it doesn't happen on that Thursday, I would have to wait another 4 days until next Tuesday.) The surgery was very successful. By the time it was done, it was almost 8pm. My partner later told me that when Dr. Cohen came out to tell him the surgery went well, he could tell that Dr. Cohen was completely exhausted. Since then, I have gained back the whole range of motion with my wrist. Every health professionals that I talked to, including 2 physical therapists and my parents who are retired doctors, said that they were amazed by my recovery. And I have Dr. Cohen to thank for. I have read comments here complaining about Dr. Cohen only spending a short period of time with them during the appointment. If you want a doctor who will sit there and patiently answer your 30 questions and make you feel warm and fuzzy, that's not Dr. Cohen. He shows his caring for patients, not by what he says, but by what he does. And the few times that I commented to other folks working at the Midwest Ortho building and the surgical center that Dr. Cohen's not much a talker, they would all chuckle and say something like "Nope, but he's a perfectionist." One last note about the Midwest Ortho building on Harrison Street: It's a great facility, well designed and well managed with everything conveniently located in one building including x-ray, CT, physical therapy, etc. It made my experience so much easier. I recently injured myself with a particularly complicated wrist fracture. After being x-rayed and misdiagnosed by other orthopedic doctors, Dr. Cohen insisted on his (and his teams) own evaluation which led to the correct treatment. Without his expertise I would have received the wrong treatment, perhaps resulting in a diminishment in the use of my right hand with accompanying pain. Instead I am enjoying a complete recovery. I couldn't recommend Dr. Cohen and the Rush team more enthusiastically.

Came to Dr. Cohen for a second opinion on an injury. He was thoroug in his examination and clear. Performed surgery the next day and all went great.

Dr. Cohen is an exceptional doctor who has treated me for three separate hand, finger or wrist injuries and my wife for two broken fingers. He is, in my opinion, the preeminent hand, finger and wrist doctor and surgeon in the country. I feel fortunate that our sports related hand injuries have been diagnosed and treated by Dr. Cohen, and that we have such an exception orthopedist in Chicagoland for these types of injuries. Don’t trust the small ligaments and bones of the hands, wrists and fingers to the ER. See Dr. Cohen to receive an expert opinion and treatment. If you need a problem with your hands fixed, Dr. Cohen is the best choice. He has given me pain-free hands with minimal post-operative discomfort. My experience with Dr. Cohen and his staff was unparalleled.

Dr. Cohen did a great job putting my very broken elbow back together. His bedside manner was great and he was very empathetic towards my situation. He answered all of my questions and was transparent and supportive about recovery. The staff that works with him have all been amazing with answering questions, scheduling follow up in a timely manner, explaining next steps, etc. I don’t think I could have had a better experience anywhere else.

Dr Cohen squeezed me in both for the consultation and procedure with very little notice. He’s clearly a doctor on high demand from the number of patients he sees, but he explained to me in very understandable terms what was wrong and what was the best course of treatment. I was immediately struck by his energy evidenced by how fast he moves which increased my confidence in him and his medical skills. I was delighted that he checked in with me pre and post op, and all the other medical staff that I encountered at both Rush facilities touched me greatly with their kindness and professionalism. Dr Cohen also left a detailed voicemail with aftercare instructions to my contact person even before they arrived to pick me and made his 24/7 contact info available to us. I cannot recommend him enough to those seeking a hand and wrist help.
