Recently Dr. Mark Burnett identified my chronic pain being caused by spinal stenosis. The solution-back surgery to remove the bone spurs pressing on the nerves. Dr. Burnett was so thorough explaining how the surgery would work and the recovery period. He truly cared about my situation and wanted to ensure all my questions were answered. Surgery went great and recovery is exactly as he described. You will be in great hands with Dr. Burnett and his staff. My Neurosurgeon Dr. Mark Burnett is absolutely amazing. For months, I was having serious neck and back issues. I had seen quite a few doctors (including orthopedic surgeons) before I found out about Dr. Burnett and his team at NeuroTexas. Looking back, I wish I had known about Dr. Burnett much earlier than I did because he is THE DOCTOR THAT GOT IT RIGHT. As soon as Dr. Burnett found out that I wanted to be his patient, he did absolutely everything in his power to begin returning my life back to normalcy. And he got it done. Dr. Burnett and his team correctly diagnosed my medical issue, scheduled my surgery to happen as soon as humanly possible, successfully performed my serious neck fusion operation at BS&W in Lakeway (10/10 experience), and then took great care of me after my operation. I'll never forget my first breath of air when I "came to" after my surgery. It was a wonderful feeling. Dr. Burnett and his entire team at NeuroTexas saved my life. Thank you, Dr. Burnett!

Brilliant, empathic Dr. who told me the truth. Would highly recommend him to anyone needing his care. His words of wisdom have served me well over the years, and I won't forget how knowledgeable he was with my case, I appreciated him very much.

I'll give Dr. Burnett an 11 on a scale of 1-10 ! He gave my (now) ex-husband very clear and easily understood analogies to understand regarding his fusion surgery with what to expect. His bedside manner is truly remarkable, empathetic and he's pretty funny too, which brings light to a scary surgery with a difficult recovery. So now, 5 years later, I begin my journey of spine issues and I feel confident I will be in the best hands Austin offers in Neurosurgeons. I'll give Dr. Burnett an 11 on a scale of 1-10 ! I had an injured neck and lower back. Both injuries caused extreme pain, headaches, nausea and stopped me from moving and stopped my life. Dr Burnett repaired my neck and lower spine. Three days after my neck surgery, I was new again. I could look outside without sunglasses, the headaches went away and nausea was gone. My lower back surgery was more complicated, but Dr Burnett and his team were quick at assisting me through the healing process. Today, I am 8 weeks post spinal fusion at my L3 and L4. I can do more than I have ever been able do since my fall/injury (35 minutes on elliptical, walking 2 miles). Everyday I am getting better and better. The hospital and Dr Burenett's team are amazing.
He is very straightforward with you and honest. If he sees any other way around surgery he will let you know. He will not do surgery unless he feels it's absolutely necessary and cannot be avoided.
Dr.Mark Burnett has provided three surgery’s on my back. Threw my road of recovery Mark has help with his encouragement. He is very well at his job. An he has a good personality. I’m very pleased with his service. Ms Lanora, Marks staff is very sweet. She response back every time I need something. I must say over all I’m glad I went with him for this journey. I personally believe that personality goes a long ways. An I rather not deal with people that haven’t a good personality. An it’s over all been a delightful experience with Mark. Thanks neurotex! This doctor ruined my life. He performed a 12 hour surgery fusing my lumbar spine, removing facet joints and 3 discs without a single diagnostic injection. My problem with SI Dysfunction and he made it worse by fusing the lumbar. He also wrecked all chances of platelet induced regenerative treatment or prolotherapy treatement of the damaged ligaments by TRIPLING THE joint dysfunction. Now I have no choice but to have SI fusion. which will likely lead to another SI fusion and hip replacement. DO NOT LET THIS KNIFE HAPPY greedy man ruin your life. He does no diagnostic injections and speaks to no doctors who do. He is happy to get you on his surgery schedule and when you wake up that one little facet joint surgery turns into a triple fusion and three disc replacements. He ruined my life. And his nurse is awful. I knew he made my condition worse when I stepped down on my right foot. But she told me to toughen up and stop complaining. This is a place of horrors. stay out! -5 stars
Saved my life. After living with chronic pain for years I have my active pain free life back!!
He fused 7 vertebrae, from my last two Thoracic to my last two Lumbar. I am 68 and can't believe I have my life and power back. Latest in technology and procedures. He is the one I recommend to my friends.
Both Dr. Burnett and all the staff were fantastic. He was thorough, explained everything clearly, took all the time I needed for questions. Very gentle and caring. Outstanding Neuro Surgeon/Doctor. I highly recommended him.
After a lot of research, my husband and I landed on Dr. Burnett as the best person to help us resolve my husband's major neck pain/numbness in his left arm. He proved to be an amazing choice for us and we appreciated his innovative perspective and that he did not just wish to go in and chop/fuze. He provided us with the least invasive option to solve the problem and was extremely knowledgeable, patient and professional. Only downside- good drs can be hard to get into!
The good (great actually) doctor has operated on both my wife and daughter for different conditions. His care and work is SUPERB! He’s one of the best doctors or surgeons we’ve ever met. If the need arose we would consult him or make use of his services again as a first choice. His work and care are the reasons my wife is alive and well and my daughter has full use of her hands. He’s a good man and great and careing doctor. We count ourselves lucky to know him.
Dr. Burnett is a brilliant surgeon and diagnostician. He is spot on when it comes to your individual surgery and outcome. In 2017, Dr. Burnett removed hardware from L4-L5-S1 that had been improperly placed 24 years previously. He was also able to remove a wire from a transmitter close to my spine that kept me from being able to get a MRI. No other surgeon was willing to do that even at Mayo Clinic. I never needed a painkiller after the surgery. He sincerely cares about his patients and is kind.

Has done all 3 of my back surgeries over a six year period. Is the most compassionate, caring, knowledgeable physician I know. Spends the time to find out what’s wrong with you and then gives you the information to decide your course of action. Highly recommend Dr Burnett for anyone who needs a neurosurgeon.
Dr. Waldron is amazing and will not give up until he has helped his patient.
I don't know about the experience of others, but my wife had hydrocephalus (water in the brain) and Dr Hummell recommended surgery. To make a long story short, he did the procedure and my wife is whole again. He handled everything in a true professional way.
The most caring Nuero Specialist I have visited in years, and because of that, I have hope again. With several surgeries and out-patient procedures, I speak of years of pain, emotional disappointment and frustration associated with chronic pain. Thank you Dr Burnett for validating the quality of my life.
Game changer. Honest. Explains everything. Great bedside manner. Successful surgery. I cannot give enough praise. I thank my lucky start to have found Dr. Burnett. I found him through another doc who had had two surgeries with him. His staff is so responsive and organized. There has not been one single issue with the results or my experience. Game changer. If I could give Dr Burnett 6 stars, I would. My teenage son herniated a disc in his lumbar lifting weights. The sciatic pain was so bad, that he was unable to walk normally. We are now 4 weeks post op, and he is pain free. Dr Burnett gave him back his youth! I couldn’t be happier with the overall experience. Dr. Burnett even made calls to the insurance company during his vacation to help us get the procedure covered. Not many Docs would do that. He was there to answer all our questions both before and after the procedure. He truly cares about his patients. And so does his staff. They were always there to help. Thank you! Things could not have gone better at NeuroTexas. Dr. Burnett helped properly diagnose my condition after suffering with it for months. I had seen my Primary Care Physician numerous times over a few months and really got nowhere. All within 3 weeks, Dr. Burnett had me go for an MRI, spotted the issue and resolved it with a single operation. It has been two months since my surgery, and I am actually feeling better than I have in over a year. His assistant, Lenora, was also wonderful. She was on-point with the situation each time I visited, and has been more than helpful since then with Insurance Claim paperwork, etc. I would MOST DEFINITELY recommend Dr. Burnett and his staff for any spine related issues you may have. Exceptional care with a patient centered approach! I have sought care for my back appx 1.5 years with little to no relief until now. Upon my first appt with Dr. Burnett it was evident that his priority was to not only diagnose my back, but to ensure I understood my condition and thoroughly educate my husband and I on treatment options using a collaborative approach. Dr. Burnett appeared confident that he could solve my back problem. Well ,I am 4 wks post-op back surgery and I must say, HE DID :)

I have to say "ditto" to Julie's review and experience. I, too, after over 10 years of debilitating pain and a botched procedure from another Austin surgeon, found Dr. Burnett and his staff to be amazing, talented, professionals. After my first failed surgery, I saw Dr. Burnett several times over the past 5 or so years trying to make the decision to move ahead with what was becomng the true "IMAX" answer to my issues. Each time he carefully reviewed my scans with me and my husband and told us what he believed to be the solution at that time. Unfortunately, my delay in waiting to have the necessary fusion only made the condition deteriorate further. However, each time I saw him, he showed us the problem and what he believed to be the long term solution, with the caveat that this was my choice and would not be an in and out, recover in a day, kind of procedure. After seeing 3 more specialists, of which one said he saw no problem at all, ( a trip to Dallas) and one who blatantly told me I was too fat and old, I returned to Dr. Burnett and decided to move ahead. I was not willing to continue to allow my quality of life to decline as it had over the past several years. My surgery consisted of a 5 level fusion with the assist of 2 titanium rods, the needed screws, etc. I do not regret this one bit. I can truthfully say my back pain no longer stems from the spinal area and the nerve endings in my legs from the compresion, but from the need for strengthening of my core muscles to once again begin to do their jobs in holding my body upright. My surgery was in January, 2016 and in August, I joined a fitness club with a personal trainer to guide my program. I am moving towards to once again being able enjoy life and my retirement with a focus on core strength training and movement therapy. After being non-mobile for so many years, I found my muscle and ligament system were remiss in doing their jobs. I once again offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Burnett, Lenora Ramos and the rest of the staff at NeuroTexas. Thanks, again for your care, concern, skills and accessibility to what has been a challenging, but amazing year of moving ahead pain free. I have to say "ditto" to Julie's review and experience. I have been a patient of Dr Mark G. Burnett ,MD over a period of the last 5 years. I have experienced some serious neurological spine issues and did not know where to turn. At that time three or four neurosurgeon names were suggested, Dr Burnett being one of them. After researching the names on line and talking to patients and Doctors, Dr Burnett's name was highly recommended four out of five. Upon my 1st medical visit with Dr. Burnett I felt totally confident and trusting in his medical expertise and advice. He is very thorough and complete in his explanation of the medical issue or problem and his plan of action in correcting or improving the medical issue. He his truly professional and knowledgeable in his medical expertise. I have had four different spinal surgeries and have trusted him completely with every one of them. What impresses me is not only his medical expertise, but his true compassion and respect and kindness he portrays to his patients and his medical team he works with! I have in the past and on any given day highly recommend Dr. Mark Burnett for his medical expertise and professionalism and utmost compassion as an excellent neurosurgeon. I have degenerative disk disease along with SI joint issues. For 3 1/2 years Dr. Burnett stood by me to get me walking again and be pain free. He always took the time for me. He would answer my questions, he even brought out spine models to explain things to us. Sure he sent me to another doctor to rule out hip problems & pain management doctor to give me shots but I went back to him for guidance & next step. Last surgery was September 2016 AND I am pain free since getting over the 6 hour surgery. Also he has an amazing assistant, if I get into a panic mode I can text her and she helps me. Dr. Burnett came highly recommended by my sister in law. She had the same problem with her cervical disc C4-6 as myself. She was 100% satisfied with Dr. Burnett as I was as well. I had chronic pain in my neck and shoulder. Plus I'd lost strength & movement in my left arm. Three yrs. ago Dr. Burnett changed my life when he operated and fixed it. I can now raise my arm up above my head. It's absolutely the best decision I've ever made. I'm currently discussing my options for my lower back pain.

I had massive shoulder and neck pain for months last year. I had been to 2 different orthopedic surgeons who both recommended fusion. At my first appointment with Dr. Burnett, he listened to my story (my active lifestyle/my desire to get full motion back) and he gave me the best options. I wound up getting an artificial disk in my neck and the pain was gone. His surgical staff was excellent - as was his bedside manner and pre and post op communication style. One of the best docs in Austin.
I had been to several neurologists and a variety of other doctors over the course of 2 years before finally visiting Dr. Burnett. He was compassionate, thorough, and most importantly took the time to discuss my issues with me in detail and explain to me what that meant. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He is my favorite doctor I have ever had by far. I wish more doctors took the time to engage with patients and help them understand their issues. Thank you so much.

Dr Burnet is first class all the way. His bedside manner, to describing in detail the procedure and then he also follows up with the family too. I have had a spinal fusion with him along with an artificial disc in the neck. I am doing very well. He is very conservative and will only operate if all conservative measures have been reached (pain shots etc). He has the experience, knowledge and best interest of each patient that walks thru his door. I shopped around and always came back to him.
This guy and his ridiculous assistant are dangerous He has no regard for the Hippocratic Oath, because he butchered me. He does not take charge of any diagnostic testing, but pushes all of that back on the patients and tell them to go have that done elsewhere. He never even talks to the drs that do the diagnostics.. He asks the patient ?? What kind of lazy practice of medicine is that? He is the worst Doctor on the planet. Ruined my entire life by performing a butcher job on my spine that I didn't need. He ruined my body and my life. .. His assistant insisted that it was all in my head and that I shouldn't be calling back up there any more. .. HE DIDN'T HELP ME ONE BIT. HE MADE MY PAIN 4 TIMES WORSE THAT IT WAS BEFORE i WENT TO HIM. .. NEVER EVER EVER let this guy cut you. I am sorry to hear about the other person's experience with Dr. Burnett, I can only present my own. I needed a spinal fusion, L5 S1, and I did everything I could do to avoid surgery aside from heading to the rainforest to find a talented Shaman who could blow a new disc in my lower back, ha. I researched & interviewed many doctors before choosing one to work with, if I worked with one at all. My criteria...talent/skill & a good fit - compassion was desired, but an unusual bonus I have found. Well, after much time spent searching, I finally met with Dr. Burnett and he met all my criteria & more! Dr. Burnett took time to sit with me & my husband and answer questions. He explained everything I wanted to know, & he taught me a bit about what I needed to know to make an informed decision. When I saw the MRI slides of my lumbar spine, I nearly wept, and my husband's jaw just dropped. My L5 & S1 were nearly bone on bone, but the rest of my spine was fine. Dr. Burnett either noticed the shock on our faces or is just a kind person or both, because he said, "But look, you have a beautiful spine, it's just that one area. That can be corrected & healed with time. Your life is not over." And I had been to SO many specialists, been thru SO many very uncomfortable tests & procedures. A blind person could see what was wrong! But it was missed more than once & caused SO many more problems over the years. It was Dr. Burnett who took the time with my information and finally laid it out for me & my husband. He listed all the options, reiterated that it was MY decision & encouraged me to think on it for a day, or however long I needed to make my decision. I was in excruciating pain, and discs don't grow back, so I decided to have the surgery to fuse that area of my lower spine. Dr. Burnett did a wonderful job, as to be expected considering his training (like I said, I did my research, ha), and I have NO regrets. I had my surgery on March 2nd, 2016, and even though it hasn't even been 3 months out, I feel better than I have in years! Now, recovery is...well, not easy, but at least I know I'm getting better now that I have gotten to the center, literally, of my physical problems. And the recovery process is a collaborative effort, Dr. Burnett did his part & now I am doing mine, or trying to, ha. It takes a village, that's for sure! Lenora, Dr. Burnett's assistant, has been wonderful! And words cannot express how much they have helped with pain management after my surgery. I sincerely wish the best for anyone in pain, especially related to the spine because I know how horrible it can make your life. I highly recommend Dr.Burnett and his staff, they have helped to change my life for the better. Again, just my experience :-). Also, there are many more reviews about Dr. Burnett on the internet...a bit more information can make all the difference, you can trust me on that! Wishing you all the best, whoever you choose to work with...& don't give up, your life's not over :-).
