Mark Gregory Belza

I've spent 20 years in the medical field so I've dealt with hundreds of physicians and surgeons. Dr. Belza has a very calm demeanor and great bedside manner. He was not going to stop testing or referring me to other specialists until we found the source of my fairly rare condition. Luckily, it didn't require surgery but I would have felt comfortable with Dr. Belza performing it if need be. I would highly recommend him.

Saw him for the first time today, 7/19/21. A star rating is easy. He has a caring, gentle bedside manner, communicates well, is a conservative treater, meaning he does not rush to perform surgery and obviously highly intelligent. Stanford neurosurgery residency grad, one of the best schools in the nation. Look it up! I had the privilege during my working years to work alongside physicians from the likes of Harvard and Johns Hopkins, a couple of the best out there along with Stanford. Dr, Belza is one of the best out there. I have a spinal issue that will gradually worsen and at some point require surgery. I want Dr. Belza to practice long enough to do the procedure. I would not give such a glowing account if I did not absolutely believe in him.

Dr. Mark Belza I held you in high regards for years. Of course you know I need bilateral SI Joint fusion. My life is a sad, sore shell of what it used to be. For 26 years I endured the worst physical abuse by the hands of my now ex husband. My insurance denied the surgery multiple times and I have felt ignored ever since that. You have the capabilities of making me whole again. I am begging, pleading for help! The life I lead is no life at all. I am asking for compassion. I just want to walk without pain and liver without the high level of pain I have. I am sorry to broadcast this but my life is slipping away over red tape. My experience with Dr. Belza was a negative fiasco. I arrived at 9:00 as requested to do registration paperwork. The receptionist was visibly irritated due to computer issues. Dr Belza came to the waiting area twice and just looked at me, no acknowledgement that I was waiting to see him. Finally a young woman came and got me with no identification to take me into a room for consultation. I asked her who she was and she was his PA Hope Cline. Her opinion was that my spine was arthritic and showed me a small photo of an abstract line on the monitor. The equipment and service provided by the Spine center in Redmond was unprofessional, noncaring and substandard or ill equipped. I made the appointment with the doctor, not the PA and nothing was resolved in that visit. My experience with Dr. Belza was a negative fiasco. Dr. Belza and his staff are amazing at what they do, professional, and caring. I broke my back in an accident, had surgery and my recovery and care couldn't be better. Dr. Belza is a top notch surgeon I'd highly recommend.

Dr Belza was the third neurosurgeon in town I saw before having surgery on my lower back the results were excellent haven’t felt this good in years would highly recommended

This was a horrible experience. i I went to my appointment which was scheduled 10, was told to be there by 930. Sat there for a hour. Only for the nurse to come out and tell me that they didnt know I existed until that moment, and was put down as a "No show" By this time it was 1040. The nurse explained that the receptionist didnt inform her that I was there. I explained to them that it was unprofessional and irresponsible. That they should have checked in with their front desk to ask if the 10 o'clock appointment was ready. There should have been some sort of communication. The nurse then said that she can reschedule me for a later date or I could wait another hour to see if they can squeeze me in. I do not recommended the Madras, Oregon office. Dr Belza performed my disc fusion in 2008. Every doctor that takes new xrays mention how well it was done. I've had zero problems with it. Thank you Dr Belza

Dr. Belza met me almost 2 years ago and wanted to cut my head open when the ER showed 10 brain tumors. He wanted to get a 5cm one out and told me I would end up going crazy if I didn't get it taken care of right away, while he felt it was small enough to operate. He was only looking at a CT Scan. I had to get an MRI because I had metal in my eye. He didn't believe me, and I said, why would I lie? Charming man btw. Went for other opinions cause he scared the hell out of me. Saw amazing doctors at OHSU and in Central Oregon. They all, except one, another brain guy here who also wanted to cut my head open without looking at my MRI wanted to do this. The real great doctors told me to never, ever get head cut open because I would die. Too many, too big. I need to have them watched. I went to the ER last week with a ruptured disk. They told me to see Belza. Saw him, and he had no recall who I was. I had to remind him and tell him how he couldn't wait to cut me open. Now we had a back problem to deal with. He saw the MRI had a ruptured disk and could see how much pain I was in. My left leg was numb, with no response to speak of. He said, the pain should be in my right leg, not my left. This makes no sense. SO he wrote me up as perfectly fine, took some blood work, a few meds to stop the crying from the pain and told me my blood work was fine too and there was nothing more he could do. YES there was, he could of referred me to physical therapy, anything to help the disk. This man is scary to me. Always get a second even third opinion. Saved my life. Great surgeon!

I was visiting Bend in May 2015. I slipped and fell at the VRBO we were renting suffering an eye injury and a slight concusion. Dr. Belza was a consulting physician for my concusion. He was great to work with and had a great sense of humor. I would highly recommend Dr. Belza for services.

Dr. Belza is very professional, patient, kind, and really cares about his patients. I am happy that he helped me with my Sciatica issue so quickly. His is staff are awesome too.

Dr. Belza and his staff are the best! We have been seeing him for more than 10 years and even after relocating to the other side of the state we will only see Dr. B no matter how far we need to go. My husband and I have chronic spine issues. Dr. B truly cares about his patients. Do you have to wait to see him? Yes, but when it's your turn, you will be taken care of, not rushed out the door. I expect to wait, he's a popular and extremely talented surgeon so yeah, he's ALWAYS busy. Be patient... he's worth the wait. My husband's condition and future is uncertain but I know that Dr. B has kept him out of a wheelchair for more than 10 yrs repairing a spine that few other doctors could have. I met Dr. Belza under 'emergency' situation with several difficulties in my spine at the St. Charles Hospital in Bend, Oregon. Time was of utmost importance, my abilities to stand & walk had declined significantly in a very short period. (In the interest of space and time allotted here)..this man is a God send, I was lucky he was available, all went as he said it would, I'm recovering well and couldn't possibly ask for more. I would not hesitate to refer him to anyone with complete confidence!
