Keep Looking, had terrible care

I moved to QV and needed a new PCP that is closer to home. Found Dr. Dugue from my insurance directory. In December, I made a weekend appointment in her Hillside office for my annual preventive visit. The office is on the first floor of a private home and it’s very small. I was asked for my copay during registration (eventhough my insurance pays 100% of my preventive visit). I met her assistant who interviewed me for about 20 minutes. Towards the end, I asked him if I will be seeing the doctor. He said “no” and that they will call me once the blood work report comes back. He also asked me to buy glucose monitoring meter, strips, etc. and wrote it on the Dr’s prescription pad signing the Dr’s name. I was shocked because this is not how my previous PCP and other doctors that I go to run their offices. I left the Dr’s office feeling uncomfortable about the whole visit. The following Monday, I sent an email to Dr. Dugue and she contacted me towards the end of the day. She apologized and told me to come see her after a week to go through my results. On the day of my appointment, I arrived 10 minutes earlier. The receptionist returned my copay from my first visit and asked for it again because she said I have a copay for that day. I had no problem with it so I gave it back to her. I was sitting there for 30-40 minutes when she finally told me that the doctor will see me as soon as she arrives. I was stunned that she was not there at all! At that point I got up and said that I have to cancel my appointment because I had no idea when the doctor will show up. Also told her that I needed to be somewhere else. She asked if the doctor can call me and I said the next day she can, which she never did. The whole experience at this office was so unprofessional that I decided to go back to my previous PCP in Astoria. Maybe the doctor is nice and caring but I would never know that. Such a great vibrant doctor. She really cares about her patients.

I have been researching and reading reviews; to find a new doctor as my previous one moved; unannounced... Nevertheless, the following is my experience during my first visit at Dr Dugue's Hillside location. The receptionist was welcoming and professional. I liked that she remembered to give me patient portal info.(something I expressed was very important to me in our initial phonecall). Steve, who did my intake and vitals, also very professional and showed genuine interest in me as a patient. He answered my questions with patience and educated me on topics related to my condition and how certain meds interact., etc. He has a very nice demeanor. Dr Dugue offered even more education including finding and sharing related info. online as we spoke. In writing my prescription she listened to previous concerns and took time to find a solution which has already proven helpful. She was very fast paced but very pleasant and interested in my health concerns and solutions. The only con I experiened were the chairs which I didn't find to be comfortable. I experience back pain from time to time so it was especially noticable to me. *At my age I don't mind giving things time to ensure consistancy and quality but so far I am pleased with my decision and hopeful that I will be able to confidentially call this my new doctor's office. to be cont. Dr. Dugue and her Staff presents professionalism and expertise. I thank Dr. Dugue for working with my Mom and helping her through her medical concerns where other Physicians were not as thorough or efficient. Thank You Dr. Dugue. Great office staff. Dr Renaud is my Dr and he pays close attention to the patients need. So far I have been going to this office for a few years and he makes sure I am keeping on the healthy track. He is very kind and patient doctor that listens to you when something is wrong(even if you don't know how to explain it) . I must say he is the best Dr. I have seen so far. Great office staff. Fast paced office but nice doctor. Hard to reach on telephone but overall friendly and intelligent.

Very very nice person and doctor. Extremely helpful and takes the time to answer questions and explain unlike my previous primary care doctors.
