About Dr. Marjan Banooni
Reviews for Dr. Marjan Banooni
She clearly doesn't enjoy this work. I might be losing my job after coming to her about my body falling apart and severely limiting my ability to eat food, let alone work at my typical, often physically demanding capacity. Even a note documenting my symptoms and that I saw her was totally out of the question. In our conversation of no more than ten minutes at my physical/new patient setup, she recorded three things that were simply the opposite of what I said on the chart, including that I was seeing a specialist I have not been able to afford in over a year. She messaged me a vague note about my bloodwork coming back anemic. I called her office the same day to follow up, they had no idea what I was talking about for a bit until they find her referral, half-completed. They promise to call me back in an hour or so. The following morning, I called her office to follow up, they had no idea what I was talking about. I'm so scared right now
I have seen Dr. Banooni for 1 Televisit and 1 In-Person physical. I do not have any pressing health circumstances, just general annual visits. I had long-term prescriptions from before my care with her, and they were refilled. My bloodwork and general health is normal. I do not know how she responds when there is urgent need, but I have found her thus far to be warm, professional, and prompt in the online replies via the patient portal.
Dr Banooni has been my primary care physician for years and she’s fabulous. She’s now my husband’s physician and I’ve recommended her to friends who’ve been happy with her too. She’s very knowledgable and concerned with our health. I’ve emailed her about various issues or referrals or medication refills through the UCLA portal and she or her staff have always responded quickly, often with a return phone call to find out more details about what is going on with me. She’s extremely caring and responsive. Even though we’ve moved further away recently and now have a drive to get to her for our physicals, we are keeping her as our primary care physician. I can’t recommend her highly enough.
I love Dr Banooni! She has become my favorite doctor She listens to me and all the doctors she recommended have been wonderful.
Excellent Doctor! Always a pleasure to see. She has always been patient and kind over the past decade of seeing her.
Good
I can confirm the prior reviews that she is rude and dismissive. She also told me "it was not her problem" in response to a prescription issue I had. Since this seems to be a standard response she uses I would suggest using any of the other doctors at Motion Picture/UCLA clinics. Save the aggravation and do not deal with Dr. Banooni.
Dr Banooni is the absolute best. I've seen so many doctors since I moved here eight years ago and she is, by far, my favorite. Though we'd never met, she was immediately familiar and we talked like we'd known each other for years. The level of comfort she provides is rarely seen in a doctor's office. Very thankful I found her.
I only had a phone call with Dr. Banooni but her frantic, dismissive and combative attitude was so bad I felt compelled to write a review. I called in during the covid outbreak and understand that the medical industry is getting slammed but I don't think it's an excuse for how unprofessional she was. She relayed no pertinent advice, raised her voice towards me, and was generally demeaning. The anxiety emanating from her was overwhelming and the last thing you want from a doctor. I've seen 2 other doctors at the UCLA clinics and they have been exemplary in their professional services. From reading the other reviews, it seems like she is fine during routine situations, but I, like many others, want a doctor to be reliable during both good and bad times.

In the end, I had to call another doctor who gave me all the info I needed and in a calm, professional manner. It's disheartening why UCLA MPTF continues to allow her to see patients.
At first Dr. Banooni was super sweet and very caring. As long as you don't ask her for anything she's great. But as soon as I needed something from her things became a nightmare. I needed a prescription for a life sustaining medication that I take on a daily basis. I couldn't get an appointment for my specialist. I tried for 3 weeks to get ahold of Dr. Banooni's office. No one got back to me to tell me that the prescription was denied. Then finally after 4 phone calls I talked to her personally. She was extremely rude, and unprofessional and said it wasn't her responsibility to prescribe it.

Dr. Banooni is thorough, knowledgeable and kind.
I LOVE Dr. Banooni. When I see her, I feel like I'm seeing my friend who happens to be my doctor. I've only been seeing her less than two years but it feels like she's known me since college. My husband also sees her as his primary and he loves her as well. She is smart, thorough, honest and real - I completely trust her and appreciate her no BS approach. Any time I've needed a referral or an appointment, it's handled right away and I never have to wait longer than ten minutes max to see her.
First time seeing her. She was very patient, attentive and took her time with me. I shared a lot of concerns about all of the untimely deaths that had occurred in my family so that she knew how serious I was about my health. After my examination, pap, she was unable to find my IUD strings. She requested an ultra sound, which I persistently got in the same day to get one by telling the rep that I would drive to whatever location that could get me in that day. I got in (Thursday) I assumed that I wouldn't hear back from her that day (although that was definitely wanted because I wanted to know ASAP what the results were) the next day, I called and they took a message for me that I called and wanted to know if surgery was needed. She called back later the evening I missed the call because I was working. She said you give her a call which I did but the office was closed 30 minutes after she called. This is now Friday. The lady said that they were open on Saturday so she might call. Of course that didn't happen so i now had to wait all weekend to know something. Seeing that this was going to be a challenge, I called back on Monday and asked that she call me at work because I needed to know what the results were. The lady verified my work number without me having to give it to her. To my surprise, 5 minutes before the office closed, the doctor called and left another message to give her a call? When? And where I'm thinking because she said ut Luke I had her home or cell number. No call at work. So i remembered that I had access to the portal and sent her a message on there VERY upset at this point, demanding that I find out about my health. Her immediate response was her being defensive and then said that i could change doctors???? That right there was shocking and appalling to hear a DOCTOR respond to a scared and concerned patient. At my job when we run out of mashed potatoes and I'm getting cursed out from a guest because of it, I'm apologizing like crazy and comping things from the bill. I responded by saying that since she would suggest something like that, I feel that is exactly what I should do and that is to change doctors and I never heard back from her. In 50 years of me being in the world and going to doctors, I've never had one to respond like that and to be so dismissive. First time seeing her. Dr. Banooni always takes her time with me, listening closely and approaching whatever is happening from all angles. Consistently kind and thoughtful, sharp and knowledgeable, I will continue to be her patient for years to come. The end. (She's the best!)
I have found Dr. Banooni very helpful. She listens, is caring, and if she sees I need to see a specialist for a particular issues, her recommendations have always been great. I feel safe in her hands.
My experiences with Dr. Banooni have always been heartwarming. An astute listener, she catches everything. Open and warm, but also sharp and coming at whatever is presented form every angle. I recommend her to my nearest and dearest.
Dr. Bonooni ,M.D. has been my primary Physician for nearly 3 years now . In that time I have had some serious health issues , as of now all of them have been resolved . She has referred me to the finest specialist available , she has taken her time to talk with me on more than one occasion . I have never had more thorough care in my life . I trust her judgement completely .
Have seen her when my regular doc at Bob Hope is unavailable. Never had a problem, she has been sympathetic, kind and caring. In fact, when I presented in the office with a problem that eventually required hospitalization she followed up with me on the phone and urged me to go to the E.R.
Dr. Bannoni was my primary care doctor, but after today I will switch doctors. She had a medical emergency and saw me after waiting over an hour. She was resentful and angry because she had to see me during her lunch hour. I commented that her behavior was inappropriate and she blew up and yelled at me that "she was seeing me - what more did I want?" She stormed out of the room. Her nurse and office manager witnessed this and they were appalled. I have formally complained to UCLA. Shocking!!

Couldn't get into my regular doctor at the Bob Hope Health Center. Saw Banooni. She was dismissive. When I explained myself and said I know my own body and she should listen to her patient, she said I should trust her because she's a doctor. I got what I needed. And I feel better. But won't see her again.
Considerate. Listens well.
She is the best. She listens and spends time talking to you about your issues. Cannot recommend her highly enough.
