I had no problems making an appointment, even if I had to schedule a month or two out because there are very few specialists Dr.'s in Central MI. She listened to me and took notes.

Appointments are far 2.5 hours from where I live. I waited up to an hour once in the exam room. Yes, she types everything on the computer while talking to you but it is up to us to say "Hey, I have a question." She will respond to it. You have to understand that she is 1 of only 2 Rheumatologist in the northern half of the state. Imagine the demand she is under. She has to turn patients away because she cant possibly get everyone in at one time. I'm not making excuses for her or her office. I just understand the whole picture. Unfortunately the current up coming medical generation is not going into this field. Leaving all of us who need that service to struggle with less than perfect service. I'd rather be straight forward and have patience in order to have the treatments and medications that have made my life so much better. I will take one long, less than chipper appointment for all the good days I get as a result.

Great doctor

If you're looking for someone who will make you feel listened to and will discuss your diagnosis with you... this isn't the practice for you. I've been a patient for a few years now and I've finally moved on to a new doctor after feeling dismissed and a bit insulted at times. She refers to my arthritic fingers as "sausage fingers". She never seems to know what's going on with me until she reads my file during the appointment. The average appointment involves her updating the patient file on the computer with very little interaction with the patient sitting right next to her. At my last appointment she said she doesn't like young complicated cases (like mine). Good news, I'm not her problem anymore. Do yourself a favor and get a referral somewhere else. I was never asked what my symptoms are. I was never given a full exam. I showed up with charts, diagrams, labs, and pictures of symptoms. Yet, I didn't even get the opportunity to discuss anything. The office is consistently behind. My wait was a minimum of an hour. I had an appointment via phone today scheduled at 1:30pm it is now 4:30 and I haven't gotten a return call. My diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis was a life changing event. Dr. Laynes and her staff are caring and the medical care and treatment I receive are closely monitored. I feel peace of mind knowing this care team has my best interest.

Dr. Laynes is a caring and wonderful doctor. She has really helped me with my RA.

Does not care about patient at all. Only wants to go back to the Philippines and leave her patients without someone to care for them.

Explained process and expected results clearly, asked pertinent questions.

Would not recommend her. Doesn't answer questions and acts as though you should already know the answers. Misdiagnosed and prescribed unnecessary medications. Never looked at me. Just stared at the computer screen and kept typing the whole time. Borderline rude.

NOT IN THIS LIFETIME!! My very first (and last) visit, Dr spent, literally, 29 of the 30 minutes I was with her, TYPING. She never looked at me! When I tried to ask her about my R.A. & lupus, she told me wait, she was 'thinking.' She was typing! Didn't examine me or answer one question I had. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME, OR MONEY, GOING TO DR LAYNES. She comes across as cold, indifferent and was NO help whatsoever. I will never go back to this Dr. again. Wouldn't ever recommend. So disappointed.

She pays attention to my medicine allergies and does not try to push medicine on me that I can't take. She listens and explains what she doing to help me.

This place is unreal. Dr. Would not give me medication for my RA until I was “out of my pregnancy bearing years” (I am 21). I came back a year later in unbelievable pain and she stated that I was non- compliant when there was no regimen for me to comply to. She then set me up with home infusions. This has taken over two months because they miscommunicated with insurance, failed to call home insurance, forgot about the set up, and failed to authorize the infusions even with reminders. Absurd.

The receptionist asked for the ins. Card 3x in the hour we were there. None of the staff are overly friendly. Dr laynes obviously can't type on a computer and listen at the same time. Asked how many kids 2x. Asked about pain 2x and still summed it up as no pain (when rated pain a 8 on scale), said there's no depression w/out asking. She should know Pain=Depression. What a waste of money & time! I can't believe there was a 7 week wait to see her. Unbelievable.

Two years ago, Dr. Laynes diagnosed me with lupus. After doing a slew of tests and regular follow ups, I spent hundreds of dollars there just in copays for tests that I didn't need. I moved to a new state, and I found the best rheumatologist in the area, recommended by multiple medical societies. Turns out, Dr. Laynes misdiagnosed me. I have fibromyalgia. Thanks for taking the hundreds that could have gone to my student loans.
