If I could give 500 stars, I would. From the use of medication with hormones, I had developed a very large mass on my liver. It was not cancerous, but a system of blood vessels had developed to feed the mass. I began to hemorrhage. The liver is surrounded by a very thick membrane and instead of bleeding out into my body, the membrane around the liver was holding all the blood and was extremely enlarged. As a result, my lungs and other organs were pressed by the liver. I was in severe pain and couldn't breathe I was rushed to the ER by my husband. Dr Canulla was on call in the ER that day...it was by the grace of God. I was admitted and spent the next few days continuing to hemorrhage. It would stop long enough to build my blood levels just enough to be out of danger but I would lose the blood overnight. This went on for 4 days. Dr. Canulla remained my doctor during my hospital stay. He would come into my room each day, sit on the edge of my bed and calm my fears. He didn't rush and made me feel like he was concerned as if I was a member of his own family. He advised me if I would stop the medication with hormones, that he felt the mass would gradually go away over time.I took his advice as I totally trusted him. I ended up with no surgery as he did not want to puncture the membrane around the liver which was literally putting pressure back against the bleed which caused the bleed to eventually stop....sort of like applying pressure when you cut yourself. His wisdom saved my life and prevented me from having surgery. He monitored me for 9 months, doing tests every 3 months to ensure the mass was shrinking. I no longer live in Arizona, but I still think of him often. If you find Dr. Canulla, you've found a blessing. If I could give 500 stars, I would. Dr. Canulla saved my life! I had neglected my health for so long never knew how sick my Gallbladder was ,being a busy stay at home mom with 3 little ones. Waking up after surgery Dr. Canulla told me that in all his 20 plus years as a Gallbladder surgeon I was the #8 worst case he ever saw OMG!! Can’t say enough good things about this man but Awesome Dr. !! Very sweet and caring and funny person. The very best Dr. in Gallbladder surgeries in Arizona. Wonderful doctor. A no nonsense guy with great talent and a great bedside manner

Doctor Canulla in my opinion is a very compassionate surgeon ,caring and very skilled ,he listened to me and talked with me about my needed procedure. Hurnia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction,Im thankful I found him.

I'm a tough patient, Ex-engineer, Retired computer guy, Self-employed over 30 years. I have to have professional confidence in ANY person with whom I "do business". Dr. Canulla meets all my requirements. Easy to talk to, easy to listen to, very clear in not only what he thinks, but why as well, and has a good sense of humor. I felt like a partner in my health care and not just a billable item. When I explained my insurance was being changed, he even offered to help with referrals if needed.

So glad to have been able to meet Dr. Canulla and his staff. Dr. Canulla was able to take care of the medical problems that I have been experiencing. Very caring person and his staff was great at getting back to me and advising me of my care every step of the way. Thanks again for the care that was provided to me.

What a wonderful experience to have Dr Canulla as my surgeon. I experienced sharp radiating pain in my chest after many tests it was found to be a gallbladder issue. I had no less than 5 physicians look at me and he was the best. Kind, considerate, compassion are just a few words to describe him. I am 100% better because of him. Most trustworthy doc I ever had.

Dr. Canulla and his staff are ridiculous with their patient care. They are lazy and have no idea how to treat patients. My wife went in for a follow up and Canulla said I'm glad you have this problem. What kind of response is that to a woman experiencing severe mood swings and generally feeling upset, sad and frustrated? What a joke. I'm a retired Paramedic and NEVER treated even the most burned out crack head like this. He treated my wife like a lab rat. Too bad I can't leave a no star review
