We love Dr. Barnwell! We recently have switched to him for my husbands seizures and so far we have learned so much in the past 3 visits with him then with any other doctor we have seen for this condition. He has taken steps to get special testing done along with working with my insurance to get MRI approved as well!! So far nothing we can complain about at all! I have another family member that sees him also and always tell me how knowledgeable and patient he is with her. He is a great doctor! I do recommend We love Dr. Barnwell! I was 30 years old with sudden onset of double vision and imbalance. He ran several tests and was thorough but the tests gave us no insight into what was happening. I was afraid as everything was declining fast. I was a nurse and couldn’t work. It was all overwhelming and I had no answers and no guidance. On my last visit he said we needed to give it more time and I started crying. Nothing dramatic I was just afraid. At a later date I was looking through the doctors notes and the day I cried he diagnosed me with major depressive disorder. I’ve never struggled with mental health prior to this disability. Mental health is a very important part of our lives and for a doctor to diagnose it so flippantly and also not tell the patient is dangerous. He also offered no treatment plans for this major depression I supposedly acquired overnight. It is now 11 years later. I have cerebellar ataxia. Great doctor and professional staff. Gave me all the time I needed.

We have only had 1 visit there, however, the staff was very nice to us when we interacted. Dr. Barnwell was very professional. Very to the point. Explained what I wasn't sure on. Never made me feel rushed. Gave me trusted site to read up on some information on. We did have a decently long wait once we checked in. But that was the only negative that we experienced. Sadly I agree with the comments about this place. Dr. Barnwell is an exceptionally kind, caring and competent doctor. His office manager is rude, condescending and a terrible listener. She does not try at all to solve a problem for an elderly patient - instead she casts blame and quotes "policy". Then has the nerve to call me back and suggest we see another doctor if we do not like Dr. Barnwell. I love him, it is HER attitude that is not right for her role. Dr. L.F.Barnwell is an awesome doctor , by far my favorite neurologist, and I’ve had several over the past 15 years in different locations across Texas dealing with brain cancer. He is very welcoming, listens, and will explain and answer all my questions. Although I live in a different city, I commute in order to keep him as my neurologist. I highly recommend!!

The doctor was very professional and helpful, so far. It is the staff that is a joke. Rude, Unprofessional, and lazy. Missed an appointment, got no reminder call, and they claim that they called me and left a message. Didn't confirm my number or anything. Called my home phone and had my grandmother thinking it was a medical emergency. Horrible people. Have enough time to goof off, but not call back patients. I'm only giving 2 stars because my first visit went pretty well. He took his time and explained how my neuropathy was caused from hypothyroidism. He said if it's bad enough he would prescribe Gabapentin. I declined because it was not bad enough for that yet. My second visit however, was not as good. I went to the ER with severe back pain, including burning and tingling and barely able to walk. They referred me to Dr Barnwell for a follow up (after doing xrays and pain meds). They said to go in 2-3 days, so I called to schedule that appointment. They explained that all they had was a next day appointment or one for the end of May so I took the next day appointment. I waited for over an hour to be seen, which wasn't an issue until my appointment was very rushed. Dr. Barnwell came in with a box of Gabapentin (before even talking to me), explained how to use it, wrote a few notes. I tried to explain my symptoms but he barely listened. He seemed to think my issue was just related to my last visit. After a 5 minute visit to get a box of Gabapentin, I was charged $155, told to schedule a follow up in a few months (I declined) and sent on my way. The next day, I went and got a 3rd opinion (chiropractor) and it turns out I have a herniated disc in my lower back, causing all of my symptoms. One treatment with them and I'm already feeling relief. I'm very disappointed and discouraged. I have had a very hard time finding a doctor to listen to me. I have had thyroid problems, chronic pain, nerve pain, among other issues. I was hopeful that Dr. Barnwell would be able to help me try to lead a normal, somewhat pain free life, but it looks like, yet again, I'm on the search for someone who cares. Dr. Barnwell helped me with my seizures. He is very nice!

After years of having seizures, I finally found this fantastic doctor that got them controlled. I've been seeing him over 8 + years and dive 3 1/2 hours from Louisiana for my appointments.

Do not take anyone to this so called doctor!!!!!!

this guy treated my daughter awful. she was so scared having epilepsy and now is. I mean she had proof from MRI she had it and not one prescription. so she stopped going to both her doctors . all they did was try and milk her of what money she had on her insurance. she has not been out of house for 6 months one shes afraid of having seizures in public 2 shes too physically week. 3 she cant walk i think the seizures are pulling her knees apart. she went to another country and they saw her papers and gave her klonopin for 3 months and tegretol. tegretol made her so sick, so she just took the klonopin and no seizures. was so scared she would be trapped in another country if she had seizures . She asked me mom why are the sick being treated like criminals for being sick in america ? that broke my heart. she has been suffering with no meds for 6 months or longer. I'm so heartbroken she is wasting away and it's the doctor's fault for not giving a damn. He was the first doctor to make effort to figure out why I was having seizures, and finally stopped them after 13 yes.

I have seen Dr. Barnwell twice now and both times have been a positive experience. He is very pleasant and incredibly knowledgeable. He talks pretty fast so you have to pay attention, but he has really helped me get my migraines under control. I would recommend him to anyone.

He made me cry and just turned his head away, not caring I feared for my life. I will would rather have seizures the go back to him. He Made me feel like i had no hope and i became suicidal . the staff were wonderful only good thing.
