Dr. Louis Joseph Ruland III

I've seen Dr Lou for several years for my knee osteoarthritis. He has performed many steroid injections, synvisc-like injections, and arthroscopic surgery on my knee. When he gives injections, I don't feel any real pain until he's already removed the needle & placed a bandage! His bedside manner is exceptional, & his staff are friendly & efficient. If I need a knee replacement, I pray it happens before he even thinks of retiring!!

His clinical assessment was right on, and ended up confirmed by imaging, which Dr. Ruland called me personally to review the results. Full knee replacement with zero complications. Went home the same day. Had no pain, very little swelling and little bruising. Highly recommend him!!

I tore my rotator cuff. The tendon tore about a third of the way across. The torn piece split lengthwise along the tenon and also split lengthwise through itself. Most rotator cuff tears occur when part of a tenon pulls loose from the bone. These tears have a good blood supply so the heal well. Mine was torn through the tendon itself where there is very little blood to aid in the healing. Despite this, Dr. Lou, gave me back a fully functional arm that never hurts. Dr Ruland is amazing….patient, knowledgeable, kind and very funny!!

My visit with Dr. Ruland was for a second opinion. The first doctor I saw only looked at my x-rays before declaring that because of my weight, I would not be a candidate for a knee replacement. The first doctor never even examined my knee. Dr. Ruland treated me with respect. He examined my knees, asked questions, and explained my options. He gave me hope that maybe an end to my pain can be achieved. I am very satisfied, not only with Dr. Ruland, but with the whole process. The office staff was great as well. I highly recommend Dr. Ruland and his staff.

Have known him professionally for more than 20 years... He has treated me for 3 ortho-issues, my wife for several, and my son for 1 - very serious - issue in that time. Got us through all of them patiently, without unnecessary surgery.

Dr. Ruland has been my family orthopedic surgeon for the past 17 years. I have many issues with severe chronic inflammatory arthritis and have had both knees and one hip replaced to date. The practice is most accommodating to patients in scheduling, staff friendliness and professionalism. The surgical staff is outstanding from exams to surgery. Dr. Ruland has now done both of my knees (12 years apart). I have received nothing but the most wonderful care in all my visits. Everything was well explained in advance and again, after the surgery. The surgery itself had no problems.

First and very important he understands that my time is as important as his time, AAOS see's their patients on time. I like the fact that the xray facilities are right there so in minutes they can see with what they are dealing. I was able to get a late-day appt with Dr. Ruland on short notice for an on-going right knee problem. I hadn't met him before but found him to be instantly friendly and likeable.
