Been with Dr. Fichtel and her team for over 13 yrs. They are the best! Everyone is attentive and understanding to your needs, and the clinical team has some of the best nurses in town!

I first saw Dr. Fichtel in 2012 after a breast cancer diagnosis. She is the doctor you want to have when you have cancer! She, along with her staff, understand that this isn’t the flu. I always felt like I received top notch care, compassion and understanding through my treatment and years of follow up. Dr. Fichtel has helped my mother overcome her breast cancer and is helping me battle my Grade ( Glioblastoma Grade 4 brain cancerAmazing, right?!

Dr. Fichtel is an incredible woman and the staff at the Sonterra START office are fantastic. I finished four months of chemotherapy last week and as happy as I am to be done with treatment, I actually miss the nurses at Dr. Fichtel's office. Cat, Brent, Ladonna, Theo, and Nan always treated me with kindness and respect. For the last two months of my treatment I had to visit Dr. Fichtel's office almost every day to receive shots of neupogen and I always had a short wait time and was able to get in and out quickly. I really can't say enough about Dr. Fichtel and her staff. Cancer is terrifying and they treated me like a friend or family. Dr. Lisa Fichtel saw me for oral cancer five years ago. Last month, I was released and cured. I had the most pleasant experience with her and her team. Cancer is not easy, but Dr. Fichtel makes you feel that you are going to be fine by caring so much for you. That is what any patient needs, caring! Thank you Dr. Fitchel for being the best oncologist for me and for curing my cancer. You will be remembered by me and my children!

Dr. Fichtel was a pleasant doctor at first, but as time passed it seemed as she started to become more uncaring to my situation. My Low Grade Glioma, behind the right temporal lobe has not grown in the 3 years I've been with her. At the beginning she seemed concerned but later I felt if I was almost a bother to her. Her staff is pathetic. I've had numerous, numerous mix ups scheduling my MRI in an open machine due to my claustrophobia. My appointments by her staff have been mixed up numerous times. I've told them no appointments on Tues or Thursday, but I get appointments on those days anyway, yet they blame me. When I had enough of it, I asked to speak with the office manager and she was useless. She challenged me on why I couldn't come on a Tues or Thursday. Who's place is for her to do that. I'm the F#$%ing patient and I cant come those days. My MRI was 3 weeks ago and I haven't got the results yet, due to there mischeduling. I was told today, they could get me in on 23 December. Are you kidding me? I finally asked for Dr Fichtel to call me, her first words was that I should find another doctor since I am not happy with her staff. Of course she is going to protect her precious staff, patients only pay her bills, she could care less about us. Never asked me my side, just find someone else. This is probably best, if I want uncaring medical care I would stay with her practice. But I don't, I want someone to listen when I have issues or there is problems within their own staff. They are just covering for each others ass. I do NOT recommend this doctor. Dr. Fichtel is so refreshing and positive. She shows an honest caring and concern for what people are going through. She is down-to-earth and very easy to talk to. She is very non-judgemental and puts one at ease. I just think she is wonderful! All the staff have been nice.

My sister is diagnosed with brain cancer while on vacation. Returning to San Antonio and trying to get an appointment was treated with a shocking lack of sympathy, respect, and simple common courtesy. We found another doctor and hope this center provides training to its front line phone answering staff.
