Don't waste your time if you're looking for an empathetic Doctor who is kind, patient, understanding, and helpful to either the patient, family or care taker. She is as cold as a fish w/ absolutely no bedside manners. My prayers now have finally been answered after finding Jennifer Brown who is a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. She is located at Sound Medical in Cape Carteret. Jennifer is wonderful, I feel like I've found a saint after having to deal with Dabney, who has been my mother's Dr for quite sometime. I am my mothers caretaker who has been suffering with Dementia for the past three years. Good Riddance. Dr. Dabney is professional, kind and compassionate. She always takes time to any questions or concerns and addresses all aspects of ones health care. Dr Dabney has taken care of my whole family for over 20 years and has been nothing but great! She takes time with each patient. She listens and cares about more than just their physical health. My children have always loved going to see her! We followed her from Richlands to Cedar Point... she is worth the drive! We always feel better physically and mentally when we leave her office!

If I could give a zero I would, Dr Dabney assigned me a medication that when I come off it cold turkey I go into mental fits and even get suicidal... I had to miss an appointment during all this covid19 craziness to take care and protect my immune deficit grandmother. And because I missed that one appointment I’m stuck without my medicine, not even allowed to have enough to wean off of safely. Im at the point I’m going to have to find someone to care for my grandmother while I go to a hospital to wean off this medicine without significant danger to my health. Also most of my visits are her berating me over how I treat myself mentally, and cutting me off saying the workouts I do do for my weight doesn’t matter Unless I do it specifically her way. As well as advice to cut off my family and tell my Dementia ridden grandmother to seek other help that she can’t afford. Or to tell my dad who works hard that I can’t help him here and there, or that he needs to work even harder to take care of his mother he lives close to an hour away from when I’m the one who lives with her to care for her. I’ve tried to go in there and focus specifically on my health, and when I’m feeling fine just going in and coming right back out for her check ups... but I go in and come back out after having a lecture about my weight, family, and mental healTh that was perfectly fine before I went in. I’m changing doctors to one that doesn’t turn a check in visit into a Lecture, and can just focus on my health and not my personal life. Saw Dr. Dabney with symptoms of UTI. Nurse took weight, blood pressure and sample of urine. Waited in room for a short time and Dr Dabney came and informed me that yes it was UTI and discussed any other problems that I might have, then sent medicine to drug store of my choosing. This is my first time with a female M D. and I would recommend her to anyone. I am new to this area and will definately aee Dr. Dabney again. Saw Dr. Dabney with symptoms of UTI. Was under her care few few years. She was tooooo busy to help me figure out my chronic inflammation. Her answer was Drugs drugs drugs. I wanted answers. Her last words to me were “ I don’t know what you want me to do for you” Never went back. She’s moody and acts as though I was a bother.

I recently went to Dr.Dabney with sore throat, cough and chest pain.Telling her my symptoms, she cut me off and said it doesn't matter if sputum is yellow, green, red, brown or blue..she literally spent 5 minutes with me, one look at my throat and said it's not strep and sent me away with no medications when I was obviously feeling horrible.As the day went on my throat pain worsened to where I could barely swallow at all, so I tried calling her office and got no answer, so I went back to the office. Monica (front desk)is always helpful and told me to take a seat and wait for the nurse.They called me back and did a strep test, which was negative and said they were sending it off for a culture and would call me with results.A week went by and they hadn't called me with results and my symptoms had worsened so I called them and the results were again negative.Monica offered me another appointment but I decided to try to wait it out. A few days later my condition had worsened to the point that I went to the ER in the middle of the night where they gave administered a steroid shot to relieve my symptoms. This same thing happened two years ago and I had two or 3 appointments when I wasn't feeling any better, she finally gave me a prescription for an oral steroid, but I was sick for months and never tested for strep or flu. So I wasted time off work and money to see her and have no treatment. The receptionist was very sweet and friendly. The nurse had an attitude and appeared irritated with the amount of reasons why I was there (my symptoms). The doctor was TERRIBLE. She was VERY short with me and appeared irritated that I did not know exact dates of things she wanted. When I tried to text my husband who DID know she told me to stop and that she “didn’t have time for this”. I left. She also very rudely corrected me when I said I had a mri instead of a cat scan. Walked out. DO NOT GO

Dr. Dabney is personable, thorough, and real. She asks thorough questions and listens impeccably. I feel so fortunate to have found her.

Very knowledgeable & experienced. She has done wonders for my husband. Highly recommend her to anyone who is diabetic.
