Linda M Bessert

I've been seeing Dr. Bessert for 7+ years and I've always had positive experiences with her. Attentive, takes the time to explain treatments, and is very quick to provide answers to questions, whether it be via phone call or through the MyChart app. As a woman, I am always very comfortable with her when it comes time for discussions about family planning and also when it's time for annual checkups.

I’ll start by saying dr Bessert is a kind woman and does take the time to listen. But that’s it!!!!! My mother has been a patient fir years and her guessing on her diagnosis couldn’t have been more wrong. Her increased dose of pain pills is probably what hurt my mom because of her REAL CONDITION. Dr bessert treated her for something completely different than what really was going on with my mom. No tests ! Just assuming. My mom ended up in emergency and two weeks later died. It was something totally different than what she was being treated for. The office is empty most of the time so assuming maybe it’s not the best place in wayland to go. Dr. Bessert has more number 1 ratings (13) than any other ratings. Why are only 2 listed on this site? It seems her number one priority was to completely eliminate a medication prescribed to me by a psychiatrist. When she cut my prescription by more than half, I felt side effects and wanted to talk to her personally about my problems and attempted to call three different times asking to talk to her personally. She did not have the courtesy to call me back and instead had a nurse call who knew nothing about my circumstance. I changed doctors, was told by the doctor that a psychiatrists should be making those decisions. She was appalled at the treatment I received by Dr. Bessert. She suggested that Dr. Bessert was more concerned about liability due to the medication since it was a "controlled substance" than my well being. I am now seeing a Psychiatrist who wanted me back on the medication although we collectively worked on lowering the dosage. He also questioned her decision saying that

Worst experience my family has had with medical professionals. We went through her for about a year, which was a year too long. She caused many problems within my family. I’m not the type to leave negative reviews at all, but this was necessary. If i could, I would give her 0 stars.

Dr. Bessert is caring and compassionate and she listens to what you have to say. Dr. Bessert is cooperate in taking care of her patients. I feel very comfortable with Dr. Bessert. Dr. Bessert is a sweetheart!

I have had a fabulous PCP for the past 22yrs. Dr Bessert was my mother’s doctor in the past. Looking for a doctor closer to home was my desire-even with the anticipation of leaving one I loved (due to location) How could I not give my own mothers doctor a try? After seeing Dr Bessert yesterday I know I have made a wise decision! She & her staff were welcoming, thorough, & met my expectations by leaps & bounds! I love Dr. Bessert and her staff at the Wayland Metro Health/UofM Health. I have been through several doctors trying to figure out what is wrong and she is the first that has really dug into things for me. I drive 40 minutes just to see her when I live within 15 minutes of medical mile in downtown. Her staff is great as well and have been warm and welcoming each time we have interacted. When I first started seeing Dr. Bessert many years ago she was very attentive and informative. Something changed either with her taking on too many patients, or the group she is affiliated with. The last attempts to see her, she never even came into the room. I saw a PA, and the multiple times I went it was a different PA each time. I realize doctors are busy people, but to not even step in the room when the condition was bad enough to warrant being referred to multiple specialists? Unacceptable

She is very personable and makes you feel comfortable. She has been my family doctor for several years working with me through various health issues. Her referrals to the MI Pain Clinic and surgeon worked out great.

My whole family sees Dr. Bessert and she's amazing!! She understands and sympathizes with normal families and experiences. We've never felt rushed by her and she's open to any and all questions. Makes me feel comfortable and cared for as an individual not just a paying patient.

Good experience and very professional.

Dr. Bessert has been my and my 100 year old grandmother's dr. for 5+ years. She has a warm nature and had been very competent in treating our ailments. We have had quite a few issues between us. When an issue is beyond her expertise, she is very conscientious about trying to refer us to good quality doctors and follows up to be sure they dealt with us appropriately. I also like her willingness to consider natural alternatives to medication if it works. She keeps up to date in her field.

I have been going to Dr. Bessert's office for 3 years now. I've been able to see her once in those 3 years. She is never available and I always have to see a different PA in the office. I am not happy with that office. Following up with the doctor is pointless because they just have the MAs follow up with you, then when you ask questions, they have to find out and call yoy back the next day. Very discusted with their office. I just want to see a doctor, at that office its impossible.

Did not receive a complete medical Exam. it was a joke Blood work and urine check nothing else my old Doctor did that every 3 months. they had no excuse other than that's all we do for a anual Exam even after telling them I had missed the last 3 year's no EKG ect. I asked why. we don't get paid from health insurance company's enough. So we will only do extra " Normal Exam testing" tests if your Blood work shows there's a problem " Kinda late to weight until you have a problem that would have been cought early. She will not fix some Medicare's one used very!! often for panic attack's or anxiety " zanax" being one I have been on for 30 years and it has worked. I was not told I don't becuase of " a side affect" as far as my other Doctor's go none have warned me about any serios side affect's SHE DOES JUST NOT FILL THAT MEDICINE she wanted to change what I have been taking. Other prescription's like an eye drop for Glaucoma you will be told see your eye Doctor. even you only see them every 12 month's agian every other Family Doctor has always filled Medicanes like this. she is not. She will go as far as if you just moved to this area and she has not set you up with a pain management Doctor yet buy no fault of your own having a HMO. she has to get you the referal that she did not do as of the appointment with only now a couple of week left of Med is not going to fill your pain medicine being a Disabled person and she has your medical record's She is going to tell you that you will have to go through the withdraw no madder how sick you get untill she can find a Doctor who will take me on as a new Patient up to 60 days. after 90 days I gave up with her. I had to drive 170 Miles one way to see my Previous pain Management Doctor. oh she did offer to write a script for the vomiting so I would hopfuly not get to dehydrated and need to go to the hospital. So If you are looking fora kind pagination able woman Doctor I would KEEP LOOKING. I did not add anything that was not true out of spite. I just feel sorry for her. Something is not write with here. at first I thought maybe Disabled people ? but that did not explain the anual exam. I should have if anything have been sent for a colon-osckpy sorry spell check no help. I hope you have better luck finding a good Doctor in this area.
