Worst medical experience of my life. Dr was extremely rude and unprofessional. Droned on for an hour after a 10 sec diagnosis, at one point asking how to upload “compact discs” to an ipod, for 10 minutes, no joke. This sad excuse for a medical professional was more concerned with not paying his malpractice insurance and listening to himself talk than actually being a Doctor. Worst experience with a medical professional in my life. Dr Kirkland was extremely rude and unprofessional. He seemed more concerned with listening to himself talk and bragging about not wanting to pay Malpractice Insurance. At one point he went on a 10 minute rambling asking me how to upload compact discs to ipod, no joke. His office was filthy blood and feces were visable.

Doctor was rude and unprofessional. There are plenty of doctors in the Saint Louis area don't waste your time with this clown

I have never felt so uncomfortable with a doctor in my life. Not only did Dr. Kirkland mock me throughout the entire appointment, but then proceeded to do a breast exam on me with no gloves on. After he finished his "exam" he told me that I needed to have my biopsy done while sedated... which I have had a similar one in the past that was done simply with local anesthetic. I left my appointment in tears. DO NOT see this doctor. I have never felt so uncomfortable with a doctor in my life. Good service

This doctor was supposed to provide a surgical consult for my loved one. He called and spoke to me, but he did not consult about surgery. He questioned me over and over about who was going to be making the decision regarding surgery and where would my loved one go after his surgery. We never even got down to what surgical options there were. My loved one had just signed off to appoint me his medical power of attorney that day, so I was emotional and unsure of when that POA would kick in. I explained to the doctor that my friend had been cognitively disabled all his life, and that I was helping him make decisions. Dr. Kirkland then replied, "What, is he retarded?" I repeated that my friend had lifelong cognitive disabilities to which the doctor said, "Oh, is that what they call it now?" He then asked to speak to the nurse. I never did get a surgical consult from him, and thankfully, my loved one was transferred to another hospital, and we didn't have to deal with the jerk again.

Dr Kirkland performed a reoccurring hernia repair surgery for me. I found him to be patient, professional and kind. I would definitely recommend him. Thank you Dr Kirkland.

nasty office and unskilled doctor please dont go there

Dr Kirkland did a fantastic job on my husband's surgery. Details were communicated up front, the day of the surgery went smooth, and office staff was able to answer any questions I had during recovery. Dr. Kirkland was very professional and took the time to answer our questions at follow up. Most importantly, the surgery was a success and my husband is on the mend back to normal and feeling great! I recently visited Dr. Kirkland’s Office and was very pleased with the service and professionalism. The procedures done were problem-free and his attention to detail in answering all my questions was very calming. Thanks Dr. Kirkland for a job well-done.

Dr. Kirkland saved my life. After having hernea surgery and still having issues Kirkland insisted I get a colonoscopy which showed i had cancer. Without Dr Kirklands persistance with me, the cancer would not have been discoverd. Dr. Kirkland did colon surgery on me and visited me every day i was in hospital. Dr. Kirkland aways took the time to discuss my situation and answer any questions my family or I had werher in the hospital or his office. I would highly recommend Dr. Kirkland for his skilks and knowledge. He is a great doctor who cares for his patients. He is also a great person. Thank you Dr. Kirkland. Dr. Kirkland saved my life. Dr. Kirkland was extremely friendly and professional. He performed my hernia surgery without a patch and it was wonderful compared to the last hernia surgery I had with the patch from a different doctor. I have been to 4 hernia doctors over the last 5 years and Dr. Kirkland was by FAR the BEST. Highly recommend using his services.

I can't even give this so called Doctor a review. I would give him negative starts if I could. I can't post this if I don't give him a one star. He did a "banding on a hemorrhoid I had and I was in so much pain for days that I finally went to the ER to have things checked out. The ER doctor was appalled. This procedure is only for internal hemorrhoids. He had banded part of an external hemorrhoid with the internal one. I had according to the specialist "that I had to be sent to the same day because it was so serious" a cavernous black ulcer in my rectum and it did not look "healthy". I was put on 3 types of antibiotics and massive pain killers. Thanks to this savior of a doctor I am better today and won't required surgery which is what she was thinking I would have to have to clean up this man's mess. Please do your research. He is NOT a colon rectal surgeon. Also his rooms are filthy. Blood is on the trash can lids. Fecal mater was on the light in the room I was in. I told the "nurse" and she said that is was betadine. I know it wasn't and she just pushed in out of the way and told me to ask the doctor about it. He rinsed off a bloody instrument in the sink and then did not have a bio hazardous container to put it in. RUN don't walk away from this doctor. Her cleaning a room for a patient consists of pulling the paper down on the bed and that is it. I watched and saw her do it. I am reporting his office to OSHA today. He is not a colon rectal doctor, no matter what you read online. He saw me once while i was desperate to get out of pain and did a procedure which immediatly put me in much worse pain so i couldnt drive home. Went to ER a few days later to have more than one doctor there tell me to never go back to kirkland and my severe pain and infection was from botched procedure possibly now requiring surgery. His office was filthy with blood and fecal matter visible and on several things in room.

I had & continue to have wonderful experiences with this doctor , He spends time with you & makes sure you understand your procedure , I had open ventral hernia surgery and I don't believe honestly that I would have received the any better treatment than that which I received from Dr Kirkland. He is a truly compassionate individual/ doctor. I was in the hospital for 5 days following my procedure he made it there everyday to check on me and discuss my recovery.

1) Poor pain management. I sobbed most of the time I was under his care in the hospital--because I was in so much pain, despite the many calls the nurses made on my behalf. 2) Huge incision. I should've had two 1 inch incisions. I came home with one 4 inch incision. The ER doctor assured me it could be done laparoscopically. 3) Poor bedside manner. He literally asked me "you know you're going to have to pay for this?" and told me "stop being so emotional". 4) He LIED to me.
