Dr. Merlo and the ENTIRE staff were friendly and professional! They were very informative and put me at ease! It was a great experience! Who says that about oral surgery? ME! Thanks Dr. Merlo and staff!!!

I did not find Dr.Merlo or his staff to be friendly. Appointment was very rushed, nothing was explained. Instead we watched a video and were given reading material. Don't recommend.

Dr. Merlo took my upper wisdom teeth out 12 years ago. I wouldn't of had anyone else take my bottoms out except for him to pervent major issues in the future. I was so nervous, and he was so great along with his nurse that helped me along the way and his front office staff. Highly reccomend.

We have taken all our girls to Dr. Merlo to have their wisdom teeth removed. My oldest is now 21, my middle 19 and my youngest, who had hers removed today, is 15. All very successful and with great care and attention from the consultation, surgery and follow up.

Had my wisdom teeth out last week. Dr Merlo and his staff were awesome. They explained my treatment to me very well and there were no surprises. I’m now one week post surgery and I’m having minimal pain. I would Recommend Dr. merlo to any of my friends and family.

I went to Washington Oral Surgery to have my wisdom teeth removed. The surgery went smoothly and was painless. Dr. Merlo was knowledgeable and patient with me throughout the process. His assistant, Zoila, was also wonderful. She provided great after-care instructions and was super kind throughout the process as well. I would recommend Washington Oral Surgery to anyone without reservation.

I had a very pleasant experience coming in to see Dr. Merlo at his Rockville office, even though I was so nervous! I came in to have my wisdom teeth removed. The front desk staff ladies were very nice and professional. They helped me with all my insurance questions and with filing. The assistants were kind and eased my anxiety. Dr. Merlo explained the whole process and was thorough. I got a follow up call that same day to check how I was doing. The office is great! I totally recommend Dr. Merlo and his staff.

Do not use this person. His bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired, and I am still trying to understand if he said what he said to me because I am a Black woman. The consultation was brisk, he hardly looked in my eyes, and it was over a month before the procedure date. Leading up to the procedure appointment, all I got were calls asking for money but no confirmation of anything that may have been needed for the actual extraction procedure. When I showed up today for the extraction, he was like where is your flipper? I was completely confused as the consultation made it seem like impressions would be done later for the crown and that the flipper was a generic item he already had. I explained there was simply a misunderstanding and Merlo just responded "well that's your fault, I've been doing this a long time and this has only happened twice." So the miscommunication has in fact happened before. It's not just me. I let the doctor know as a point of feedback, that his bedside manner was a bit cold given this appointment was for the extraction of a tooth in the front of my face and it's a bit traumatic. So much so he had given men and I had taken anxiety meds!!! What was his response? "Go somewhere else! I don't need this. I don't need criticism from you." The worst part of his tirade was his final missive of "I DON'T NEED CRITICISM FROM THE LIKES OF YOU!" All while raising his voice to a teary-eyed scared me, and his nursing staff apologizing profusely to me. It was the WORST dental experience of my life. I would never recommend anyone use this service. This doctor needs stress management and maybe some unconscious bias training. The likes of me?? I am a Black female attorney and I deserve to not be yelled at by a rude dentist over reasonable misunderstandings. Find another dentist for your procedure. No one needs that fragile ego and rude energy as part of any healthcare service. He was so disrespectful and unprofessional.

Four wisdom teeth extraction and I am 6 days post-op and seems to have gone well, some normal pain/swelling. Low stars due to rude doctor and staff. If you can go elsewhere you should, if not, like me due to insurance, then it's fine. But there must be other offices that do a good job on your teeth and have professional bed side manor. I was upset with their attitude but somehow felt better to read reviews (here and elsewhere) that had the same experience!

Dr. Merlo and his staff were very professional and courteous during my recent visit for an extraction. The treatment was surprisingly smooth with very little discomfort before and after the procedure. Dr. Merlo provided clear answers to my questions and a helpful proposal for a follow-up process.

Dr. Merlo is fabulous. I appreciate when they explain things to you in detail and he does. I had surgery and he made the process very easy/ as painless as possible. Highly recommended.

My daughter had her wisdom teeth pulled by Dr. Merlo. The procedure and follow up went smoothly. What I really liked is that they understood how our BCBS insurance worked and were able to tell us upfront what the costs would be.

As a senior citizen it was very concerning when I was told that I had a pathology issue. Dr. Merlo saw me promptly, explained my problem and outlined the treatment process. He is a very skilled surgeon, compassionate and always considered my comfort and what was the best approach to resolve the issue. Dr. Merlo was also accessible even after hours. His surgical nurse, Stephanie, is wonderful as well as his other staff. Definitely a Top Doc (5 stars) in my view.

Doctors like this should not practice it’s not fair that we have to risk our lives and get surgery from someone who is just doing it for the money. I will make it my goal to expose doctors like this. Do not!! Send your loved ones here

Impatient, lacks compassion. Front office could not find my paperwork and before I could complete a new packet, the doctor called us back to the office. He insisted that we provide "paperwork" as the office assistants just looked confused and somewhat scared. He immediately threw up his hands and said, "this consult is over"-- talking about weird?! Seriously, Dr. Merlo violated so many medical codes of conduct that patients should be very careful as to how they engage with such a temperamental physician. His emotional state is unclear and needs further investigation.

Got my wisdom teeth removed here, seemed like he was in hurry or something when I came for the consult, actual procedure and follow-ups. A few of the assistants are helpful but for the most part are more interested in chatting with each other then ensuring you are okay.i woke up from anasethia earlier then expected but still had my eyes closed and could hear some of the assistants gossiping and complaining about other patients. Not to mention that I got my wisdom teeth removed September 2018 & it is now July 2019 and part of my mouth is still numb because they hurt a nerve. He is the best! He did an amazing job on my extraction and my implant. He is gentle and unlike other Doctors followed up after to make sure I was okay.

I visited Dr. Merlo in DC to have my wisdom tooth removed. I was scared of the procedure, but felt better after my initial appointment. Dr. Merlo told me it would take about ten minutes to remove the tooth. I got a quote for the removal about a week before my appointment. Everything turned out perfect. It took less than ten minutes from beginning to end and Dr. Merlo was very professional. The actual extraction took less than a minute. The charge was as quoted. The pain afterwards was minimal. I took a Tylenol before going to bed the evening of the extraction. The only thing that bothered me were some of the bad reviews of Dr. Merlo I read before the extraction. Luckily nothing turned out to be true. The personnel were very kind and knowledgeable. Everything was efficient. I would highly recommend Dr. Merlo. Dr.Merlo is a wonderful surgeon.i went for TMJ and there was a lump back of my jaw he inform me that it needed to be removed and tested for cancer. I had minor surgery he was wonderful with me explained everything and the staff was marvelous.i would recommend him he is the best.

I appreciate my initial surgical consult. I was seen pretty quickly after I checked in and Dr. Merlo immediately asked me several questions, he reviewed my scans and x-rays, and we scheduled the surgery to remove 4 wisdom teeth promptly. I like and prefer a no nonsense doctor. I am pleased.

I had very high expectations for this doctor as I have been seeing my dentist for several years and I trust his judgement for referrals. I went early for the appointment (wisdom tooth removal consultation)and I was called in to an exam room at my appointment time which i appreciated. Sad part was that this doctor spent exactly 2 minutes with me. Being in medical school, I believe bedside manner is very important. Yes it is a routine procedure but not even introducing yourself is a BIG problem.

He is good dentist. He knows what he is doing.

Bad dentist with many bad reviews! He said if you have high blood pressure, you will not live long without taking a drug, that most doctors push, and die of kidney failure! Was told similar lie by a regular doctor years ago! Merlo refused to pull my tooth! His assistants in the back are as rude and nasty as he is. The room looked unsanitary and he pulled out a couple of instruments from his pocket and had no gloves on. He had just been working on another patient replacing a bone in gum.

I was referred to Dr. Merlo by an endodontist who had been unable to stem a long-term infection in one of my teeth. Dr. Merlo quickly identified the problem--the tooth next to it was also infected, and he thought both should be removed. I scheduled the removal, bone graft, and two implants, which were done over several months' time to allow for healing after each procedure. Dr. Merlo was prompt, courteous, and expert in solving a problem that had been plaguing me for some time.

Dr. Merlo, Is one of the most skilled, compassionate, and diligent Oral Surgeons I have ever had the pleasure of receiving medical treatment from. I was just recently diagnosed with mouth cancer by Dr. Merlo when he removed my painful legion from my tongue. Due to Dr. Merlo's skilled and quick medical response, I can confidentially say he literally saved my life. Dr. Merlo is also backed up with a wonderful staff that makes you feel like you are their only patient. I had my 4 wisdom teeth removed. The day after the surgery, i went to work without any problem (beside swelling on one side). The all process was fast and the pain was totally manageable. I was able to eat normaly within 10 days after surgery so i really think that Dr Merlo did a good job. The staff is also very nice and welcoming. They answered all my questions and were available by phone all the time if needed.

I needed a tooth extraction as well as a bone graft and dental implant.Dr.Metlo did a superb job on all three.I am a senior citizen and have seen a lot of dental professionals over the years and can tell the superior from the inferior.Dr. Dr. Merlo in my opinion is as good as they get.
