I wanted to give a huge shout out to Dr.Lapkin and his staff. Very caring staff. Dr. Lapkin sat down with myself and my father for 1hr30min explained in detail everything and answered all our questions. The staff and Dr.Lapkin helped us so much during these rough times. Thank you!

Dr. Lapkin and his whole staff are the nicest people. I recently had open heart valve replacement surgery and had been having a really hard time getting things done. Dr. Lapkin and his staff went above and beyond to help me get this done. I want to give a special shout out to nurse Tammy who took the time to help me get appointments and to talk to me to help me get through all of it. I honestly don't know what I would have done without her help and the help of everyone there. I can honestly say Dr. Lapkin and his whole team saved my life. Amazing surgeon

My mom (81 years old) was experiencing chest pain when walking last year. We were shocked and worried when we found out that she needed bypass surgery. Dr. Lapkin and his staff spent 2 hours with us on the first appointment - our questions were answered (more than once!) and they made us feel like they had all the time in the world explain things and help us make decisions for her health. The surgery was a complete success and now - not quite a year later - she has been able to reach her goal of taking her 3 1/2 mile morning walk on the bike path near her house in Gunnison. I am so appreciative of the outstanding care and the absolute compassion that Dr. Lapkin and his staff gave to my mom. I would recommend this office to anyone facing these kinds of health concerns. I really appreciated Dr Lapkin’s strong compassion and outstanding bedside manner. He performed complex mitral valve repair on my mother, and she could not have come out better!

I am forever in debt to Dr Lapkin. I never thought that I would be able to do the things I once could, but the skill of Dr Lapkin had allowed for me to finally proceed with my life.

Dr Lapkin is absolutely an amazing surgeon. My mother and are best friends, and I almost had her taken away from me. His ability to do emergency aortic surgery has made me forever in his debt and she is doing better than ever!

Dr. Lapkin saved my life. I am so grateful for his healing touch. I never leave reviews, but felt compelled to do so as am so thankful and blessed that he was available when I nearly died. Words cannot express I feel. You are my angel.

Dr. Lapkin was very professional & explained my procedure in detail. He gave me peace of mind knowing he was there thru the whole procedure. I had a paprthyroid surgery done at the same time Dr Lapkin removed an Mediastinal mass from under my sternum. He has great energy!

I am late in writing this review, but after reading several of the comments, I felt I needed to give my perspective. I had heart-lung bypass surgery 5 years ago to remove a tumor in the left ventricle of my heart - a very uncommon and not at all straight-forward surgery. A friend on the staff at CU Medical School talked to cardiothorasic surgeons at CU and also Duke Med Schools. All knew of Dr. Lapkin and recommended staying in GJ for surgery because of his expertise. I have NO regrets!

Dr Lapkin was honest and personable, my surgery was very successful due to his skill in the procedure. Rather than a valve replacement , he was able to repair the existing valve.

Dr. Lapkin fits the stereotypical surgeon personality profile: arrogant and lacking bedside manner. He almost talked my mom out of our decision to have the surgery with his negative, discouraging and fear-inducing pre-surgery conversation by saying there was a 10% chance the surgery would be beneficial, after our main doc said the chances were 80%. We were in an emergency situation and did not get to choose a doc. The surgery had no complications. Glad we didn't let him talk us out of it.

Dr. Lapkin has to be one the worst doctors I have ever visited. While his background seems ok, there is something missing in his general demeanor
