My mom broke her wrist and was very concerned. Dr. Benson from the start was very professional in how to proceed, the best options available and how the whole process would play out. When I saw you on February 26 I complained about sever pain in my right thumb. You took new x-rays and said that everything looked good. You thought that I had tendinitis and gave me an injection in my right thumb, instructing me to wait 10 days for relief. It has been 12 days with no change in my pain level. You did the surgery on December 1, 2020 so it has been 10 weeks since my surgery. The pain in my right thumb is more sever than the original arthritis pain by a factor of 2 or 3. What do we do next? I fractured my wrist Saturday. I called IBJI Monday morning, saw Dr. Benson Monday afternoon, and had surgery Tuesday. And got my bandages off Thursday. I am now in a removable brace and get my stitches out in a week. I still have several weeks of therapy, but I’m very pleased with how far I’ve come in less than a week. I have been having trouble with my hands with arthritis. Dr. Benson gave me a couple of different options was very kind, courteous, and very very nice. I would recommend everybody to Dr. Benson.

My husband had an MRI ordered by Dr. Benson. It came back showing a tumor in bone of shoulder as metastatic cancer. Dr. Benson said the radiologist was probably paid by the number of words he wrote and it really was arthritis. He was told not to get the biopsy his urologist ordered. They never get enough of a sample and keep doing it. Said my husband didn’t need to go through that. We did have a biopsy at Northwestern and my husband has stage 4 lung cancer metastasized to his bones! Dr. Benson should not be practicing medicine!!

Dr. Benson is a very good surgeon. He took very good care of me for my hand and for my arm (fractured humerus) The first couple of times I saw him for a consultation he was stressed and he was a little impatient. When he had to really take care of a fracture, he was patient, explaining everything carefullyg

Dr Benson is an extremely gifted surgeon, and really puts the patient's needs first. I was a difficult/challenging case, and he took the time needed with me. My surgery required a follow up procedure, as his attention to detail coupled with his passion with outcomes really makes him the choice for complex wrist surgeries.
