Knowledgeable. Good manner.
I have been a diabetic for 51 years, and Dr. Metchick's team of MP and staff are the bomb! I had a doctor tell me as a diabetic I must have epilepsy and that is why I am having seizures. Really, he was fired as my DR right away. You want good service, be a good patient and listen to them. They are not there to harm anyone, but to help and they have to do what is required by law. Maybe he had a patient who took longer because her husband died of Covid19. Which in my case happened, the staff and all the employees were very compassionate to why my sugars ran low and my loss.

The staff and Dr. Metchick are fantastic. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and the staff has been amazing through the whole process from setting up my surgery, radiation treatment and dealing with the hormonal changes. They are very helpful and patient. I would highly recommend them.

Staff is great
Helps with getting best prices for drugs and equipment
Best endocrinologist in all the state! Dr. M. offices are clean & organized. People who work there are awesome! Especially, his puppy dogs! A nice tactic to add when patients almost always fear a doctor visit!. Thank you Dr. M. & staff!
The office staff is terrible, they never answer the phone and their mailbox is always full. Dr. Metchick won't see patients on a regular basis, you have to see the NPs in his office. As a person Metchick is very nice and very friendly but since you only get to see him once a year or less, it's useless to use him as a doctor. I've been with his office for over 5 years and my overall feeling is that if you want a Endo that cares about their patients, do not go to this office.
I have never had an issue with Dr. Metchick or his service. I would recommend him to anyone.
Overall, my experience has been positive; however, their billing is a nightmare.
Nothing special here, they make patients jump through hoops and if you can't keep an appointment they are quick to charge you even with notice. But when they change who you are suppose to see at the last minute or your pharmacy has to call multiple times for a refill or have to call back multiple times for a question it's OK though.
Terrible...........metchick said "i don't know, you'll have to see a podiatrist" when I ask if and how diabeties affected my feet. Chrystal Meade treated me as if I haf a contagious disease. The diettician was so proud of herself but was useless. O caring, pill oushers. He became just what he said he would back in 1977, getting his degree to make money. The last time I looked Chrystal Meades frirn posted a favorable review AND lives in Texas. Long way to the doctors office, hey? Leaves you to wo der about reviews...... They do not care about anyone and are only interested in filling in appointments. you are treated like cattle. When visiting Mr Metchick you will notice that you only get to see him on the first appointment. He has fill in Doctors for him and all other appointments are with someone you do not know, you haven't seen before and you will never see again. The doctors rotate out pretty regularly. I always felt like no one cares at all. If you miss a appointment they take you off the schedule and drop you cause every spot means money and that's all they really care about. I LOVE the Drs. And the staff. Very caring and knowledgeable.
I see the nurse practitioner who is nothing short of wonderful Spends lots of time explains everything. Never rushed
I had a very poor experience with this doctor. I had an ultrasound done on my thyroid and biopsy to see if it was malignant. His office called me to make an appt. to discuss the results. I had to miss 3 hours of work to go to this appointment. When I arrived at the office , I had to wait 30 minutes to see him. I was called into his office and all he said to me during our 5 minute meeting was that my thyroid nodule was benign and nothing to worry about. I responded, "Why did you make me drive 20 miles and miss 3 hours of work for this? You could have mailed me or called me with this result." He responded, " I can't help it if the medical system is broken" I can only assume that he just wanted to bill my insurance for an office visit . I also had to pay a $50 copay. I will never visit this doctor again.
saw the doctor on my first visit and saw a p.a. every visit after until i request metchick made appointments 6 months out for a specific office only to get a call a few weeks prior moving them to another office. they did an ultrasound told me i had nodules and a goiter. i have neither. iwas told that so they could get my insurance company to pay for an ultrasound at his office. told me he needed two years to help me feel better. i still feel like crap. was falling asleep in his office at the last appointment he said everything looks good see you in april. doesn't test a full thyriod panel. looked gim up and he takes lots of money every year from pharmaceutical company's.
I called my insurance company they told me that doctors office was a participant in my plan I have a Medicare advantage plan they sent me a new patient package I filled it out and returned it with all my information when I inquired a young lady by the name of Vicky said she couldnât give me a an answer because her manager was on vacation I got an email today saying that they not they do not take my coverage I called my coverage they said that is incorrect just want the doctor to know I am about the fifth person that gave a negative review on Google the doctor should be concerned for his practice

They’re ok. I only saw the doctor once and was seen by a nurse or something for all the visits that followed. She listens and is easy to talk to but often I think the office in general has no clue what’s going on with my care. They referred me for imaging and then cancelled the imaging appointment I had made with the referred place without telling me so I showed up to the appointment and missed work for no reason. When I asked if I still needed the imaging, they asked me what I wanted to do. If I need the imaging, I want imaging; if I don’t need it, I don’t want it but I’m not a doctor... that’s what I thought I was paying for: medical advice and care.
I am a diagnosed diabetic, one Friday night at 10:00 P.M. I took my blood sugar prior to going to bed. My blood sugar was over 600, I knew if I went to the ER, they would admit me. I called Dr. Metchick and told him my situation and asked that he keep me from going to the ER, I did not want to be hospitalized. Dr. Metchick had me contact him throughout the entire weekend to instruct me as to how to bolus my insulin. Thank God for his sincere, genuine caring attitude. With his help I managed to avoid a hospitalization. I will never forget the care in which he gave and how attentive he was. Another incident is when I had to have a biopsy of my thyroid and I was scared to death, I hate needles! He was so kind and comforting, it was easy! Yes, that's right a needle hater saying it was easy so that speaks volumes about Dr. Metchick.
Be aware of the billing in this office. They will rip you off!!!
Referral order provided to them on 10/30/18. I spent one month and numerous phone calls following up to try to get an appointment. The office was totally disorganized and I never did get an appointment. It is now December and I will be going to a different doctor.
My wife Denise went to this doctor she met him once for 3 mins lol ,,,, She had gotten her A1C Down with working out and walking from over 10 to 6 , even though what she was doing was working he put her on Jardiance it has about did her in and she craves sugar all the time something she did not do before . She has had infections ,,, fatigue .. overall feeling of unwell for over a year . Her office visits consisted of nothing more than taking her A1C weight going over her meds and checking her feet then out the door !!! Do not go to this guy he is as Narcissistic as they come ,, you will not get to see him and you will be rushed out the door. My wife has not kept her last few appointments because she is looking for another doctor who will actually see her and talk to her about what is going on instead of throwing another pill her way ,, The staff i very very rude also ,,,, run like heck form this wack !!! Oh keep your appointments because if you miss one or cancel they rudely want a 55 buck fee ,, The shame of it is you do not see a doctor so if you need help, well you will not get anything but another pill thrown at you ,,, After all this mess her A1C is back up to 8 now she has to work hard to get off Jardiance and get her sugar back down , up and down is not good ,,,, run people run ,, My wife Denise went to this doctor she met him once for 3 mins lol ,,,, She had gotten her A1C Down with working out and walking from over 10 to 6 , even though what she was doing was working he put her on Jardiance it has about did her in … More
Office manager did not present herself with her name. She was very disrespectful and had a condescending voice when concerns were brought up. Vicky and Lisa are the receptionist and coordinators. THEY DO NOT RETURN CALLS. THE OFFICE STAFF DO NOT CARE!!! please avoid this office. We have been trying to set up an appointment since February... it is now June and still, they are unwilling to help us set up the initial appointment. Our insulin will be running out soon and the office manager stated "you work in healthcare, you should know better". Working for the State Health Department, I have NEVER seen such a lack of professionalism and a lack of compassion for patient care. The office staff is a poor reflection on the physician. If I could have put zero stars, I would have. The office staff is extreme arrogant, but it is very apparent where it stems from. The doctor is very aloof, takes very little time with his patients and makes you feel as if you are very privileged to be able to be seen by him. The office manager doesn’t return calls, and when she finally does, she absolutely has the same arrogant attitude that she is doing a huge favor by returning a call. She will only speak to a patient when she is called. She will not call a patient when it is requested that she do so in the office. It was told to us that this was not her policy. The doctor is very concerned about his google reviews with good reason and has personally asked me and a few others I know to give him a good review online. Maybe if he and his office staff did an adequate job, he wouldn’t have to ask patients to give him a good review. If I could have put zero stars, I would have. The appointment scheduling procedure for this doctor is horrific. You will be lucky to be seen in months. I was told that a 2 month wait was considered a good turn around for this office. All of your new patient information, referral and medical records, and copies of your insurance must be given up front before they will schedule for an appointment. If something they require is missing, you go into limbo status until you call and inquire about the possibility of an appointment. Only then you are informed about what is holding up the appointment scheduling. Once you have complied with all of the requirements, then and only then will you have the opportunity to see a medical provider (usually the practitioner) and give this business your money. My name is Patti Johnson. Dr. Metchick is not always a “hand holder” but is a brilliant and first class physician. He is held in very high regard by his peers. He has referred me to the best in the country (Norman Parathyroid and Clayman Thyroid, both in Tampa) for my parathyroid and thyroid issues. I trust him completely.
Coming from NJ I was warned about Dr's lacking here in Florida but NOT HERE. This office was at the top of it's game. The staff were extremely well coordinated and organized. Dr. Metchick was extremely patient and listened carefully to each of my concerns. There was nothing condescending about him like Dr's can be up north.
Go elsewhere. You will be lucky to get an appointment in a 2+ month time frame and then you will be lucky to see the doctor (as opposed to an assistant) ever. This doctor puts profit over patients.

Great person who listens to you.
Arrogant and not knowledgeable. He is supposed to specialize in metabolism and weight loss. He refused to order a metabolic panel, hormone panel, insulin test or thyroid panel. His advice was to lower my calories and increase my activity. He wasted my time and money.
Dr. Metchick is awesome. I have had experience with a lot of doctors. Dr. Metchick has great personality and he is very approachable. You can discuss anything with him. He treats you as an equal. He never talks down to you. He still iis very professional with discussions about your state of your health issues.
DR.METCHICK IS AN AMAZING DR. HE WAS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ME AND IM SO BEYOND THANKFUL. HE IS EXTREMELY GENUINE AND KNOW HIS STUFF.I HAD TO REDO MY BIOPSY STUFF WITH HIM AND I WAS SCARED FROM MY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE. HE WAS DONE IN LESS THE 5 MINS NO NUMBING OR MEDS ....HE WAS TALKING TO ME AND B 4 U KNOW IT I WAS DONE NO PAIN OR DISCOMFORT. HIS KNOWLEDGE AND STAFF MADE ME FEEL SO COMFORTABLE AND WORRY FREE. THANK U ?????? 2 UR STAFF AND THE DR. R A WONDERFUL COMBINATION. IM BEYOND BLESSED
Dr Metchick provides individual approach to treating patients. He is not a one size fits all doctor. He views each case as a puzzle to create the best possible care for the patient. He goes above and beyond!! His office staff is amazing as well. He is the first doctor to offer ways to make me better not mange my diabetes. So blessed to have him as my doctor
He & his staff are patient & kind. Dr.Metchick explains everything where you can understand. Is not in a big rush & answers all concerns. He performed thyroid biopsy today, he's very caring, knowledgeable & gentle. Highly recommended!

My primary referred me to Dr. Metchick. I'm pretty apprehensive and nervous about medical procedures, but the Dr. and his staff made me feel much more relaxed. They were friendly and easy to talk to. Dr. Metchick was easy to talk to and very reassuring during my biopsy, which was quick and easy with only a little discomfort. I would definitely recommend them.
I saw him on my initial visit (had to go to Deland for that appt for some odd reason) never saw him after that. His PA talks to you like you’re in elementary school. When my T3 came back borderline normal I requested to be given a small dose in hopes of getting it in the higher range. I was told he doesn’t prescribe T3.An endocrinologist that doesn’t prescribe a thyroid medication? And every time they did blood work I was to come back in 3 months. 6 weeks is customary. I wouldn’t take a dog to him
Dr. Lee Metchik was very personable and professional.
Dr. Metchick diagnosed me with papillary thyroid cancer several years ago. I appreciated his direct approach and all the information he gave me. Although direct, he is very kind and compassionate. He's been helping me make the right decisions for my thyroid health ever since. I completely trust him and wouldn't think of going anywhere else.

I have been going to Dr. Metchick for at least 10 years and I recommend him to anyone who has either diabetes or problems with their thyroid. The office staff is excellent and Dr. Metchick and his PA Crystal have seen me through some very difficult times with both illnesses.
First off their office runs like a well oiled machine with each person being completely aware of what the other parts of the office are doing. Everyone was extremely sharp and friendly. The Doctor. Well this is a doctor who knows what he is doing. He seem to welcome my questions and took time to really explain in detail. He was friendly, warm and seemed genuinely glad to have me as his patient. A really wonderful experience!

This physician and his staff are top notch. You're in and out quickly and they are all very courteous. Dr. Metchick knows his stuff. Very thankful to have found him.
I saw Dr. Metchick in Aug. 2014 when he explained my problem. He ordered radioiodine therapy and since then I have seen Crystal Meade, P.A. every 6 months. My vital signs and weight are checked plus she auscultates my chest and lungs. And, she checks my carotid arteries for adequate blood flow all, in an unhurried manor. I only saw Dr. Metchick once. perhaps his bed side manor isn't the greatest like most doctors today. In fact he only saw me for 5 min's. but he did read over all my records I brought and was specific on what I needed based on my score. The Medication I was put on was right on !! in 2 weeks I'm loosing weight and I feel 1000 X better. This is not 1970 or 80 our culture has changed. As a human being would I like my doctor to act like my friend? sure, but unless I'm a Multi Million air your not going get it. All and All I feel blessed to have found this office. Unlike my old Doctor in Daytona (another post written) the office Staff picks up the phone, they have accommodated me when I have asked questions about my injections (outside the office) This office has a built in Nutritionist and the office staff is great. I'm a difficult client. A lot of times I'm still eating carbs. But lately since I've been feeling better I've actually cared and disciplined myself better to eat salads instead of sandwiches (yeah sometimes I'll order fries) In the past I used to eat a whole Pizza, Yesterday with Friends I had 2 slices and one without crust. So unlike my old Doctor I actually feel hope. The bottom line if I'm going to get better I have to do the foot work. My old Doctor spoke terrible English, explain things so fast I didn't remember, the office staff never picked up the phone, There were ton's of billing errors. But what prompted me to change was I missed an appt due to my job. I went there the next day ( I was supposed to do labs beforehand) but I lost that sheet. I got the sheet but she refused to set an appointment and said she didn't have one. I said well how am I going to see the doctor she said get your labs first then will set up an appointment. Then my last question was I needs my scripts extended until then will they do it and the secretary said I don't think so and wouldn't get the nurses for me. That is when I left. I am so happy I found Dr. Metchick he is a blessing to me. Thank you I only saw Dr. Metchick once. perhaps his bed side manor isn't the greatest like most doctors today. I have been a patient of Dr Metchick's for several years now. He and his staff are always very knowledgeable and personable. They don't overbook unlike my last endo where I felt like a number and he doesn't rush. I can call them with any questions and he calls me back himself when he could just have a nurse do it. As someone who is fairly new to Type 1 and struggles with lows it is very good to know that there is a doctor and his staff who do care for their patient's well being.
Well, I am certainly glad I didn't read the reviews before going to Dr. Metchick. He was referred by my primary physician. My experience with Dr. Metchick and his staff, from when I first walked into the office until I walked back out the door, was the best I have received from any doctor's office in years. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was extremely friendly and professional, and on time! When Dr. Metchick himself asked me how his staff had treated me, I was stunned. Awesome experience!

I began seeing Dr M and I believe I was such poor control of my T1D that I was on my way to death. Truly. His upfront and truthful care saved my life. I went from a 13+ A1c to under 7 in 2-3 years.

We were having problems with our last Dr. friends recommended Dr. Metchick, glad we did. He answered all our question. When we went in to meet the Dr. we had heavy shoulders with tons of questions and concerns. After it was all said and done the weight was lifted and the pressure was released.

Avoid this Bad doctor! He is money driven and an egomaniac. Watching his staff tip toe around him is uncomfortable. Watching him show off for pretty young pharmaceutical reps is like a Saturday night live skit, he's not real smooth, lol. He is all about volume of visits. Physicians Assistants seeing the majority of patients. He only writes for medications in which the pharmaceutical company PAYS him to be a speaker. He gives out your personal information for studies without your knowledge or permission.Office staff is unavailable when trying to contact them, yet they charge many many patients fees for rescheduling less than 24 hours before appointment. Even though they were unavailable and don't return messages. I have NEVER heard of an office dropping or releasing so many patients! My other doctors are also shocked by this. There aren't many options for endocrinologists in the Lake Mary Area so even being so bad he gets lots of patients by default. Do yourself a favor and drive a little distance and have a specialist in Endocrinology take care of your health. Unless you want to go see A physicians assistant most visits and a rude ,arrogant unprofessional Bad Doctor once a year? Do yourself a favor and go else ware.I promise at some point he will offend you, talk down to you, try and charge you an outrageous unwarranted fee and then drop you as a patient. Dr.Metchick is extremely knowledgeable in his field. However he is human and not a machine so even though he has exhibited some other attributes as mentioned in a previous review, I for one was not offended to see my doctor is human
Great experience. Dr. Metchick and his staff are friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. They listen and don't over-evaluate. Having had a bad experience with another endocrinologist, i was fearful and distrustful. Dr. Metchick and his staff alleviated my worries and made me feel comfortable and safe. Worth the drive!

I love Dr. Metchick! He diagnosed me with a serious problem in just one visit which other doctors neglected to do so for years. His recommendation of surgeons & hospitals as well as his after surgery care have saved my live and definately given me a healthy, more meaningful life. He is one of the best doctors I found in Florida, and I'm so greatful for his care.
Mostly fair, admittedly not available for a lot of face time but it is satisfactory for my needs, and staff is very pleasant and helpful. Might not be the best for someone with a new diagnosis.
He spend very little time with patients and always wants them to be the guinea pig for new medicine. He is more concerned with the drug companies payment than his patients. He gets snippy when you don't want to try the newest thing. He also sells his patients personal info and telephone number to drug trials and they call you incessantly without merit.

I saw Dr. Metchick for post-thyroidectomy (due to thyroid cancer) management of hormone replacement. This physician has a severe "God-complex" and is not interested in anything the patient has to say. Dr. Metchick is not only extremely rude, but also incredibly incompetent (ie-he insisted that long term hypothyroidism could in no way contribute to mood instability). I am now 1 year out from thyroidectomy and my TSH is 11 thanks to his completely ignoring my presenting symptoms and insisting that I not be seen or have blood work more than once every 3 months. When I then presented with well documented metabolically induced mood instability, he first ignored me for 3 days after his PA called him concerned about my condition. When he did call, he yelled at me for 20 minutes about my behavior being inappropriate. when I explained that I could not control myself as a result of my hypothyroidism (which was confirmed by my long time therapist) and that I was scared and needed help, he continued to yell at me insisting that there was no possible connection between my mood instability (which wasn't present pre-thyroidectomy and immediately vanished with T3 therapy), and my thyroid levels. Obviously, the link between the 2 is well documented in the peer reviewed literature. He then discharged me from his practice in the midst of this crisis. Dr. Metchick placed not only myself but also my family in danger as a result of his negligence and incompetence. Do not allow this physician to abuse and neglect you, go elsewhere for your care!
