Dr. Laurie Powell Gerstein

I recently moved to this area. Dr. Gerstein was recommended by a neighbor. It took a while to get the first appointment since I was a new patient. I usually do not write reviews, however I hope Dr. Gerstein or her office conveys this to her. I found her exceptional. She listened to every word I said, answered with knowledge and compassion. (Went way beyond how most Doctors treat their patients). During each step of the exam, she explained what she was doing, the results of her findings in a clear, gentle way. I left the office knowing I was in good hands. Really what more can you expect from a Doctor.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Gerstein for at least 15 years or more. I love her!! She’s very professional and has a warm heart as well. She really listens to all your concerns and takes the time with you so you FEEL heard. My daughter saw Dr. Gerstein before moving to Florida and often says she wishes she could could find another OB/GYN like her. The staff is kind and friendly and very professional as well. I had an excellent experience with this practice and Dr. Gerstein. It was my first appointment with her and I found her to be attentive and informative. She was sensitive to my needs which made the exam only mildly uncomfortable rather than painful as it has been with other doctors. The waiting room was empty when I entered and left, the office staff were very considerate, and despite arriving early, the staff saw me promptly. The office is located in a complex where there is no difficulty with parking.

Exceptional doctor. Very knowledgeable, patient and compassionate. Highly recommend!

I have been a patient of Dr Gerstein for years. She is extremely professional and knowledgable. She explains every procedure she does as she is doing it. She listens to all your concerns and makes you feel heard. Her staff has always been nice and efficient.

This was my 1st visit to Dr. Gerstein, and I couldn't have been more pleased. She was very professional and knowledgeable. She explained everything she was doing during the exam in detail, letting me know that everything was normal. She answered any questions that I had, even before I asked them. Never in my life have I had such an awful experience with a doctor than I had with Dr. Gerstein. I actually left her office in tears because of my experience. I have gone to the practice for years, but this was my first time going to Dr. Gerstein. I will now be leaving the practice all together. While most of the doctors there, in my experience, are condescending and belittling, Dr. Gerstein is by far the worst. Going to the gynecologist is a sensitive and nerve wracking experience for many women. I came into my appointment wanting to talk about and possibly find answers about a condition I think I may have due to many, many symptoms and risk factors. When I presented my symptoms to the doctor, it was clear from her face that she was not even listening. She then proceeded to tell me that since she had just met me, she couldn’t be sure of my symptoms (which I had just laid out for her). My symptoms are extreme and affect my life every single day. Dr. Gertsetin told me that she didn’t want to run tests because most times they come back negative. She told me there was really nothing she could do for me and was all together dismissive and belittling. It was not until I was in tears that I felt she started to listen at all. Even then, she simply told me “that must be tough.” She did end up ordering an ultrasound; however, we both know my suspected condition cannot be detected through an ultrasound. I felt that this was just a way of appeasing me. She also told me she herself would call me with the results of the ultrasound, but I ended up receiving a call from the front desk staff with my results instead. She made me feel like the issues and pain I have were not worthy of her time and attention. I will obviously be going elsewhere in the future, but I now feel embarrassed, ashamed, and apprehensive about bringing up this issue with someone else out of fear I will receive the same response. Please, do some research and find someone who will listen to you and not make you feel less than human. I truly do not understannd why Dr. Gerstein is in this profession if she has no intention of helping people. No one should be made to feel the way I did by a doctor. I had my first visit with Dr. Gerstein today and I was very pleased with my experience. The office staff was very friendly and courteous and Dr. Gerstein was such a pleasure to meet. She spent time with me; I never once felt rushed. She took time and really listened to me, which is so important. She is also very gentle and has a warm bedside manner. I highly recommend her! As a side note: I am 50 and experiencing perimenopausal symptoms, which was my main reason for seeing her and I felt like she totally understood me and what I am going through and was very helpful. I have seen Dr. Gerstein for the past several years and she is, in a word, amazing. She is always so kind and considerate. When I come into the office I am seen quickly and am not left waiting for the doctor, which is something I have found happens often at other doctors. When she comes into the room, she does not rush out like others do and truly cares that all of my questions and concerns are answered without being belittling or condescending. I had an IUD placement after a long battle with different birth controls, she was extremely thorough and took the time to make sure I was comfortable and it was one of the best choices I made. I cannot recommend her enough. Plus, the staff is also extremely thorough and very kind!

Dismissive and condescending. Clearly did not care in the least about me or my concerns.

The doctor shows no warmth nor compassion, intensely pressured me to continue with a painful procedure after I said I wanted to stop.

Dr. Gerstein is wonderful. I've been her patient for about 15 years and have followed her when she changed practices from center city Philadelphia to Doylestown. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the office staff. Over the years I've had many instances where the office simply will not ask her to call me. They tell me I need to come in. I've even said to them why can't you just have her call me first before I make the long trip up there. I would not even mention this but that it's happened several times over the years. I guess it IS hard to find good help. Dr. Gerstein is wonderful. I've been her patient for about 15 years and have followed her when she changed practices from center city Philadelphia to Doylestown. Dr. Gerstein is a wonderful doctor! Patient and thorough...she takes her time explaining things. Highly recommend her!

I left my tubal ligation with no pain relief whatsoever. I also received no follow up call to see how I was doing.
