Dr. Laszlo Jozsef Mate

Dr. Laszlo Mate has a personality and bedsidemannor of a rock! Most importantly he left my daughter hanging in his care, took off out of the country..without going into further detail, I would never go back or reccomend. He is horrible with children and my daughter was scared of him!

Dr. Mate is great. Office staff is rude and rushed, like you’re bothering them with your questions. I just had a baby at the beginning of the year and was off my medications during the course of that time. I needed to get a new prescription filled, and obviously because I hadn’t been to an appt to see him, he was unable to refill them until then. I asked anyways just incase and the office lady who answered “no he cannot do that” in a tone like if I was crazy for asking. The next appt was 2 months out and that just wasn’t going to work for me. Unfortunately the office is very far away from me and the appointment is too far out, so I needed to look for another provider closer to me. Especially having the baby now, it just made sense. I kept the appt anyways. I tried calling other providers near me to see if I could get an appointment with them sooner, and unfortunately none of them would be able to take me without a referral from a PCP. I’ve never had a PCP. I called Dr. Mate’s office back and explained my situation. I asked it they would be able to recommend or refer me to another neurologist in my area. Before I finished she cut me off and said “no sorry we don’t do that. We don’t know anyone in your area.” I responded “okay that’s alright”, and then she said “I’m going to remove you off the schedule then.” And hung up. The sad part is, it wasn’t her question to answer - it was the doctors. I also never requested to be removed from the schedule. Really disappointing. I also didn’t try to stop her from cancel my appt, I honestly don’t want to return because I wouldn’t feel comfortable speaking to the office staff or asking them any questions.

I believe he would be very beneficial to some of the members of my family. He is dual licensed, both neurology and psychologically experienced. His knowledge of medication and the affects that it could have on the brain. I love that he doesn't shove medication or toss prescriptions at a patient without first sitting down and analyzing the full spectrum of what that patient is going through. He's very protective of the brain and isn't afraid to say the risk or dangers of taking some of them. He is my favorite, I hate that I love farther now and cannot see him

I am more than pleased with Dr. Mate, he's proven to be a caring physician who listens to his patients. His staff as well. I'm blessed to be a patient of his.

I am 60 years old and have been struggling my whole life with ADHD & whatev er else my issues are. He addressed them professionally and was able to explain my ailments thoroughly after a few tests. The staff is great & I have not felt this normal in all my life! I am truly grateful for all of them!

Dr. Mate was absolutely lovely! He was attentive, informative and very patient with all of the questions we had. We had a great experience with him and his office staff.

i have been going here for about 7 years and have never had a bad experience. Dr. Mate is very honest and straight to the point, which can run some people the wrong way but i always appreciate.

Incompetent and gossips about patients

Dr. Mate will not listen to you, very rude and will say how much he will help you and doesn't! He also will lie and say everything you didn't say! Your just a number to him! The first visit I liked him but then second and last one he showed his true colors! He digaonse my child with everything I said I think she has walking in! He only did one test and had me fill out like 20 questions and said she had xyz! He wanted me to start a medication I did not feel comfortable about giving her meds he recommended. I spoke to my child's regular doctor about it and he said I should see another doctor which he told me Dr Ley and then he told me not to do meds! So I went there other day to Dr Mate's office to get all the paperwork and everything I said was wrong he said I was comfortable giving my daughter the medication and I gave it to her before etc! Then I called and nurse was being smart no compassion what so ever because I was so upset! All she can say I wasn't there and I can't change his notes! I told them he needs to fix it speak to her doctor because he told not to give my child those meds! Whatever the case is don't waste your time with this doctor or office! Trust me don't be fooled in the first visit to see after second and third visit what a horrible doctor he is! Love the staff at Dr. Mates office. Especially the receptionist. She is always so helpful in making us appointments, getting back to us in a timely manner, very efficient and over all she is just a nice person. It’s hard to find that at doctors offices anymore. It’s always comforting to see her smiling when we come to the office.

I work as a nurse and in my opinion Dr mate is great. I cannot believe some of the complains listed: didn't get a steroid shot done by a neurologist, really? If a neurologist has that in hand and chooses to do that, it is a bonus. If not, don't B...%#@. You don't need to be an adult neurologist to perform an EMG, pawl! The nerves are the same for children and adults. Yes, the receptionist is not friendly but, What does the receptionist has to do with rating the doctor? A bunch of adults that are entitled! grow up big babies!!!

The doctor is good and knowledgeable however his office staff (especially receptionist) is rude and always rushed. I do not like having to call his office and dealing with her. I understand they are a busy office but no need to be rude consistently. Recently I called the office to inform them Social Security would be requesting records for my son and was promptly put on hold before I could say one word. After a 5 minute wait I spoke to the receptionist and told her Social Security would be requesting medical records and doctors notes for my son and wanted to give them a heads up. I also wanted to confirm there were notes indicating the doctor stated to me there was seizure activity with my son because he had told me this during a visit 2-3 years ago, the doctor said at the time he could not find proof (via testing etc.) that my son was having seizures because of the type they are but felt he was having them. When I called the office she said there was no record of him saying that and he would not change anything in the records. I stated I did not want a change just the addition of what the doctor told me and asked to please leave a message for the doctor, the receptionist flat out refused and told me I'd have to deal with it and they would only send out his records and that was it. I asked again if I could leave a message to speak to the doctor thinking if I spoke to him maybe he would remember our conversation and add it to new notes., she said "no, he (meaning my son) hasn't been seen since the end of 2017 so your no longer a current patient,and he's not going to remember him from that long ago". I said he might remember could she please just leave a message with my number and her response was "it's not important enough to bother the doctor". I told her this was urgent because if the doctor told me that but didn't put it in the notes it was a problem and I needed to speak with him. She again said "no". I asked if I could make an appointment then since she wouldn't leave a message (we live an hour away but I was still willing to make an appointment to get it taken care of and added to the note records). She said "no, were booked solid for months". I told her "you really shouldn't be so rude, thanks for absolutely no help, get a better attitude" and promptly hung up. The receptionist is the first person you speak with and first person you meet when going to an office and should be nice, kind, and understanding. It sets a bad example as to how the rest of the staff and doctor may treat you when you have a rude person working the front desk. It sets a patient up to expect bad service and treatment from the rest of the staff and doctor. Never once have we had a good experience with the receptionist, she has always been this way, showing a little compassion and empathy for the patients and families wouldn't kill her. The worst. He's a Neurologist but cannot administer a steroid shot - refers you out for that

We needed a pediatric neurologist urgently. Everyone we called was booked and couldnt get us in, until Dr. Mate. We used him for 1 year and switched. He told us contradictory things about tests, telling us 1 thing 1 visit and something else a different visit. He has overstepped the neurology aspect at times and criticized labs pertaining to our pediatric endocrinologist- which was not appropriate. His receptionist- is not friendly. Just not impressed and does not inspire confidence.

I wouldn't recommend him. He pretty much told me my son was a loss cause and we need to just medicate him and accept his future. F this guy.

My four year old sees him for his complex seizures and I can honestly say if I feel anything is wrong he is on it!! He listens to everything I say! I know my son is in gud hands!!

Dr Mate was absolutely helpful with my father. Couldn't ask for a better staff, very kind and helpful. Appointment was not months out and got us in within 2 days of asking for an appointment. Very accomidating to my fathers condition.

Wouldn't not recommend him to any parent with a child with autism. He was rude and unfriendly towards my 4 yr old ..he also stated my nonverbal son sounds like he needs an exorcism! Also my son attempted to say byes to him.. he just walked away from him . .having a nonverbal child saying byeee is a great accomplishment by the way sighs definitely not going back!!! We have been seeing Dr. Mate for 12 years. Both my daughters and I see him. Love him and his staff. Wouldn't trade him for the world. He does fuss at me because I don't do what I am supposed too but it's done in love. He also encourages my oldest to do better than the best that she can in school. He answers all of my medical questions, he takes the time out for me even filling out a simple form. I never wait long, no more than 5-10 minutes, but than again I am always early for my appointments. I can always count on him and his staff to treat me like family. Awful experience, I would not recommend Dr. Mate if you're in need of a neurologist who is responsive to your individual clinical needs.

Dr Mate has been rude every single time I seen him, which was 3-4 times (3-6 month follow up apt's). The only reason I stayed with him that long was because I wanted to "give him a chance". The last apt I had was about 2 weeks ago 4/2016. On that last apt I seen him, I was suffering a dibilitating migraine and was really feeling too lousy to be there but was hoping he could help me. He finally came into the exam room to see me after I waited 25 minutes being the first patient/apt. He asked me a couple of questions, I told him how bad I had been feeling. He asked me why did I reschedule my last apt then walked out just as I was talking to him, I seen him "slam" my chart down on a desk and went into see another patient ..... Just like that! Also, left me hanging.... I was so upset, I couldn't believe his actions, for absolutely no reason! I immediately asked for a copy of my records and got the heck out of there and will NEVER go back!! He has been amazing in helping treat my migraines. Was willing to work with me on medication as I am allergic to several that treat the migraines. The first dr that has listened to what was wrong

Dr. Mate is one of the best doctors I have seen. He diagnosed my mother's Parkinsons when all the other doctors said it was nothing.
