Dr. Lara Anne Friel

Terrible Doctor! She is the worst Doctor so far from UT. She shows up to the room without even reading your medical record. I tried to explain her my situation on how I had managed my health and she got mad. She wasn’t even going to recommend me anything anymore, but I asked her again and she finished. After she was in a hurry to leave the room I asked her about my other health condition that is affecting my pregnancy and she said she did not know about it. She did not know, because she did no even bother to read the patients records. I came home and I did what she recommended and it is totally wrong I am way worse than before. This is the first time I had experience with any of the Doctors from UT. It is a shame that such an unprofessional Doctor is managing high risk pregnancies, she is putting in more risk the mother’s and baby’s health.

I saw this MFMS for 2 months on a biweekly basis and never once met with her in person!! I would always only meet with the sonographer. The sonographer would then take the results of my ultrasound to Dr Friel and the Doctor would then give the sonographer the thumbs up or thumbs down on how my appointment went. This gives the impression that you only meet with he Doctor if there is a problem. The only time I actually met with the doctor was when the reception had made a mistake with my appointment and the Doctor came out to tell me there is no space to see me and that I didn't have an appointment. She never even introduced herself to me as my high risk pregnancy Doctor and just dismissed me. Very unprofessional. I changed my Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist and couldn't be happier with my decision. If you just want to be a number in a system then see Dr Friel, if you would like a Doctor who is generally interested and concerned about your individual case then I suggest that you look elsewhere. Saw her after my 20 week ob ultrasound showed funneling and a short cervix. Her recommend was to not do a emergency cerclage. 2 weeks later my baby delivered. Horrible doctor

She is slightly friendly but I agree with the other reviews, she always seems to be in a hurry and does not thouroughly answer your questions. Seeming as she deals with high risk pregnancies you would think she would have a better bed side manner. I have found with her that you have to make her explain things and ask a lot of questions because she will run out of the room in seconds

I am a physician myself and my wife and I are going through a high risk pregnancy. Dr. Friel came in and informed us about poor baby growth. Baby is in 3%, worse than 3 weeks ago. Would not even stand for us to ask a question. As she is quickly walking away my wife asked desperately, do you feel we need to deliver early and her response was "I will put it in the report!" Absolutely unprofessional physician. Both my wife and I are physician and am appalled by her as a person and physician!!!

Her office charged me almos $600 and she wouldn't answer any of my questions. She is cold and doesn't wait for you to ask questions. Seems the be in a hurry all the time
