This guy is not a real doctor. He literally went to a random medical school overseas - Gunter Medical? No idea how a medical board lets him practice in the USA. Everything you saw in his awful ratings is true. He left my wife waiting in the hospital in severe pain for four days without doing a routine procedure that would have helped her. We still have no idea why, nor did any of the staff at the local hospital. Eventually on day 3 Dr. faker made an appointment for this procedure (including requesting no food and water before) only to then cancel it at appointment time with no notice. This was without any explanation by the rudest and most disgusting nurse we’ve ever met, Jessica. She was straight out of central casting for “trashy Floridian woman”. They then ignored calls from the hospital staff for the day. We eventually left and found a competent specialist to help us within 24 hrs. If you hear this guys name, run for the hills and try to find a legitimate doctor. We’re not sure if what he’s doing is legal, but it’s clearly immoral.

ZERO!! This guy shouldn’t even have a license. We have been at the Leesburg Hospital for 3 days and never saw this guy. He takes so long to do approve things. Wife is in for a Gallbladder and pancreatitis… no communication, sends assistants for everything. Forgot about my wife’s discharge and we are sitting in a hospital room that should be used for a person who needs it.. any doctor who has under 3 stars is sketchy. This guy is a 2.9 star and should be 1 star… needs to be fired and shouldn’t practice medicine in the USA. They had his name listed as Dr. Lal on the board in our room and I erased the Dr. In front of his name so it just read Lal. Felt good about that! In your face LAL!

The doctor and staff are very professional and take the time to talk to you and answer any questions or concerns that you may have. They take the time to explain to you about any test results, test that's going to be done, and what they're treating you for. I highly recommend the group of doctors and staff at Gastrointestinal Consultants.

I was recently seen by NP Laura. She wanted to check on a question we had and contacted Dr Lal at another office. He explained immediately some information and I was very happy when I left the office. Dr Lal was so kind to take the time even if by phone contact to give me comfort. I’m very pleased going there and will continue to see him and Dr. Tabarez. Thank you doctors.

Zero ⭐️, Dr didn’t even examine me after I waited for 2 hrs to see him. Scheduled a colonoscopy & endoscopy (unnecessary) paid my $400 copay to be completely awake& aware during procedure even in pain with biopsy & IRC, no water given in recovery after fasting over 12 hrs, no communication, nothing addressed the actual problem I went for. Can’t get anyone to answer the phone or refer me to a real surgeon that I need. He wants to do another colonoscopy 6 wks after for NO REASON!!! Do not recommend him! **UPDATE** after 17 days my biopsy results are still not back, I find it hard to believe working in the medical field and getting path reports back in a week typically. I got my records and the staff is very kind and helpful. Not their fault. I’m now wondering if my biopsy was even sent. I know it was done as I was awake and traumatized during the procedure even on the VERSED. SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME AND TRAUMA AND CALL DR JUSTIN KELLY IN TAVARES! He is amazing!!!

I think it is unethical to leave sick patients in a waiting room for almost three hours. Schedule less patients a day, so you can actually have the time to talk and treat patients with the care they need. All of you doctors took an oath, and you need to start taking it more seriously.

I've had two colonoscopies with Dr. Lal. Yes, this is a busy practice. Yes, I was informed at my consult that they were backed up but they offered to call me when my turn was about 15 minutes away so I could not have to wait at the office. The procedure day was very streamlined, the surgical staff was very kind and recognized my apprehension. Dr Lal was very kind and explanatory of the results and acknowledged to feel free to not have a follow-up appt. and that I was good for another 5 years. Other than the inconvenience of the wait for the consult, I was happy with the experience.

Poor communication of details from my first phone call with the office. Terrible scheduling with very long wait times. Dirty, dingy, depressing surgical center for procedures. I went to the ER at UF Health in The Villages with stomach pain. The diagnosis was gall bladder. I had an MRI prior to surgery and was told by the admitting physician that I would need a separate procedure to remove stones from my bile duct. This would be done by Mr. Lal. I had no personal contact with him prior, during or after the endoscopy. All communication was from the admitting physician (Thank you for your efforts Dr Minn.) or the OR nurse. The stones were not able to be removed and I was told by the OR nurse that after my gall bladder was removed I should make an appointment with Chan’s in Gainesville to discuss some “abnormalities”concerning my bile duct. I am left with no guidance on how to proceed and have made an appointment with another Gastroenteroligist to get a full diagnosis and resolution. This was a horrible experience! Apparently Mr. Lal doesn’t think patients need to know any details on their condition or treatment. Stay away from Mr. Lal if you want personal and professional medical advise and treatment. MY MOM WAS DISCOVERED DEAD via a family requested wellness check on August 30, 2021. The medical examiner deferred the signing of the death certificate to Dr. Lal because he had performed a gastric procedure on her in February (within the last 12 months). The funeral director sent over the certificate information for his signature, which he and his office agreed to give. Florida law states that he had 72 hours to do, or else face legal recourse. It has been almost 2 weeks now, and still no response from Dr. Lal or his office. Both the funeral home and I have called/contacted this place @ 50 times, and never get past the numerous excuses given by receptionists (usually Judy). Marcus is never available, never calls back when it’s said that he will, and never answers any of our emails. I’m currently in the process of obtaining the police report of my mom’s discovery of death from Officer Leonard (the officer in charge of her case) from Lake County PD, and will proceed from there. This is definitely not a doctor who values human beings, or the oath of benevolence he swore as a “doctor.” MY MOM WAS DISCOVERED DEAD via a family requested wellness check on August 30, 2021. Had several GI issues and decided to go here based on some good reviews I had heard. Dr. Lal is so disconnected when he is in the room with you and I don't feel he listened to any of my concerns. The worse part was I had an endoscopy with him and up to this point I had undergone several endoscopy procedures and they had always placed me under at the other facilities I have been too. I was taken into the room and I began asking what was going on because I did not see the anesthesiologist. Before I could get a clear statement from anyone, Dr. Lal proceeded to give me versed which made me loopy, but I was still alert and awake completely. He proceeded with the endoscopy while I was completely awake. I was gagging and it was an extremely terrifying experience that nobody should have to go through. He should have pulled the scope once I starting gagging and trying to pull at the scope to remove it myself and he just kept telling me to calm down. You don't tell someone that is completely awake with a foot long scope down their esophagus to simply calm down. At my follow up apt he simply apologized even though I am traumatized from this experience. I would never go back here nor recommend anyone to go there. This is the most incompetent medical practice I have ever encountered…. And this is over six decades of life. I called six times trying to get my colonoscopy scheduled. I was finally given a date and told they would call me the day before to confirm. By late afternoon on the day before, having not heard from them, but having completed most of the miserable preparation required for a colonoscopy, I called the answering service twice before getting a call back. I basically was told they hadn’t arranged it with my insurance company and all of the prep and fasting I had done was for nothing. No apologies, in fact, she was perturbed that I was upset about it. I never post negative reviews… but if I was a patient looking for a gastro doctor, I would run quickly away from this practice. This is the most incompetent medical practice I have ever encountered…. Had 2 experiences with Dr. Lal at The Villages Hospital, 10 yrs. apart. Ten years ago my 92 yr. old dad had a test done by Dr. Lal. We were told to wait in the waiting room for Dr. Lal to meet us with the results. Two hours later we found out he went home!! Never spoke with us!! Ten years later, Feb. 2021, my 94 yr. old mom had tests by Dr. Lal (TV Hospital told me that he is their only gastro dr. so I had no choice). Dr. Lal NEVER gave us the results of her tests. I contacted his office everyday for 3 weeks trying to get results or trying to speak with him. I just kept getting BS. Mom died without me ever knowing the results of her tests!!

I would give zero stars but will not submit without one.The office staff are extremely rude and have no communication with inner office staff.I was given two complete diffrent stories by 2 diffrent office staff in same office same day.We waited over an hour to walk out after not being seen. They did not send an authorization to the primary for insurance to approve. We get to the visit and are turned away they needed to reshcedule. Then we are told we would be seen they had sent the authorization. I was on the phone with our primary and insurance nothing was ever sent.I was told I need to have patience the fax machine takes time. Lol The condisending attitude with the office manager was through the roof.I told him they could have called before we drove an hour. This was not the first time our appointment was canceled due to office mix up.There were no apologies I was just talked down to and treated terrible.I would not recommend this Doctor to anyone until he revaluates his office staff.

The good: Dr. Lal seems competent and the staff at the surgical center are very nice and seem competent. The bad: the waiting room in The Villages is dismal; the wait for the doctor is extremely long; the visit with him is VERY short and most of the time he is backing towards the door; you will NEVER get to speak to an actual person when you call; the voice messages you leave will not be responded to in a timely manner; if you need test results, be prepared to make numerous calls requesting the results and to wait a very long time to get them, even if you are in pain. This is my actual experience. No exaggeration. I finally had to get another doctor to obtain my test results from Dr. Lal's office in order to get surgery. As I told Dr. Lal's office, it is very evident that this business is a production line operation and patients are little valued.

RUN, DON'T WALK FROM THIS DOCTOR AND HIS OFFICE STAFF!!!! GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE!!!!!! My friend went to him for some gastrointestinal issues. She works full time and has to schedule the appointments during her lunch time. The first time she went to this doctor, she waited for 2 hours in The Villages office for him to arrive. The second time she went, I went with her. Again, she had to take time off of work to go see this doctor. We waited for an hour and a half in his Villages Office for him to arrive. We were told he had an emergency in Tavares. The doctor walked in with no apology for being late and DID NOT EVEN KNOW ANYTHING about my friend or her issues. He had not reviewed her file or any of her test results. His nurse's assistant, who was in the room with him at the time, pointed to a computer screen the test results, and he read the results off of the computer screen without knowing anything about what was going on. He prescribed antibiotics for my friend. . My friend is allergic to many antibiotics. Before taking the medication, multiple phone calls was made to the doctor's office to find out if my friend might have an allergic reaction to this medication due to the ingredients in the medication. We had to call multiple times to get anyone on the phone. We finally spoke to the receptionist in the Tavares office, whose name was Ruby. We explained the situation to Ruby and she was EXTREMELY RUDE TO US. Ruby stated that my friend WOULD NOT receive a call back for 2-3 DAYS, even though she was trying to avoid an allergic reaction to the medication the doctor prescribed. Ruby further advised us when we asked for a supervisor, office manager, or The Villages office, that she "did not have The Villages Office Number. She further told us that she had no way to get in touch with the doctor. She told us if we wanted to, we could DRIVE BACK to The Villages office and try and speak with someone, but that NO ONE would be calling us on the phone for 2-3 days. My friend took the medication and had a severe allergic reaction to the antibiotic. I called back very early the next morning, after the allergic reaction, and was able to speak to Marcus, the office manager, who was nice, however he promised to call back once he spoke with the Doctor about what to do about my friend's allergic reaction, and he never did call back. We made AT LEAST 10 phone calls to Dr. LALBAHADUR'S OFFICE AFTER THE ALLERGIC REACTION AND NO ONE CALL US BACK!!!!! My friend had to leave work (she had not missed one day of work due to illness in 8 months) and she is still sick, and DR. LALBAHADUR AND/OR HIS OFFICE REFUSES TO CALL US BACK!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR OR THIS OFFICE FOR ANY MEDICAL NEED!!!! YOU WILL BE TREATED VERY, VERY, POORLY AND WILL BE TREATED WITH GREAT DISRESPECT. I'm pretty sure Gastro-Intestinal Consultants are running a scam, using a required co-payment as their accomplice. They insisted that my son pay a $175 co-pay, even though our co-pay is $30 (and Gastro-Intestinal Consultants knew it...it's printed on the insurance card). Of course, our insurance paid all but the $30 co-pay, so my son is now due a $145 refund from Gastro-Intestinal Consultants, which they refuse to reimburse him for, even though he has called them and requested the refund numerous times (spoke to Mary Lou). I truly believe that the doctor here and his bookkeeper (his wife, Vajaya Nagabhairu) are banking on the assumption that most people won't check their explanation of benefits from the insurance company and then Gastro-Intestinal Consultants will get to pocket the twice-paid $145. CHECK YOUR EXPLANATION OF BENEFITS WITH THIS UNETHICAL MEDICAL PROVIDER! These people should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of those who trust them. I saw Dr. Lal when my primary care doctor sent me to him for my GI problems. The office staff were very friendly and efficient in helping me fill out my paperwork. Dr. Lal was very nice and took the time to listen to my concerns and I felt much better after his treatment. I was very happy with the care that I was given. I strongly recommend Dr.Lal. Front office asks you to sign an electronic mechanism and will not tell you why. She says "trust me". When you call to ask questions, they tell you to leave voice mail. Two days later, still no response. After surgery doctors Operative Report says one prescription item but actual prescription called in to pharmacy is for another drug or item. Upon calling doctor, again told to leave a voice mail. No response. UGH! Regarding wait times. After waiting 40 minutes to see the doctor, he spent a tot

Disrespectful, nasty, unprofessional ,arrogant and argumentative. Never have anything to do with this Doctor, the worst Dr. I have every dealt with. If you ask questions he gets his back up and talks down to you. His staff couldn’t get a job at McDonalds and the wait time is anywhere from an hour to two hours.

At my first visit Dr. Lal was unprepared, despite making sure my PCP having sent all the pertinent paperwork to him. So he wasn't ready for me, and wanted to repeat tests,. He was rude when I brought this to his attention. His waiting room was filled to capacity and he acted rushed. I later saw his partner and liked him, but when I returned for a follow-up (making sure to schedule with the partner), I was switched back to Dr. Lal.

The worst office staff I have ever had to deal with, what rudeness, starting with the office manager and ending with the front desk. The Doctor and his assistant are awesome, to bad they have such lousy office people. I was treated with such disrespect, and phone was even hung up on me. I will never go back there.

Their office is terrible. They were supposed to call me and let me know that I still needed to pay $175.00 deductible. I showed up for my appointment and was given the news. Luckily, i had it but this week's budget is short. I waited over an hour to be seen. I need to change my appointment. I started calling early this morning and didn't reach a human until 10:30. I aksed her why it took so long to get through. She said they were busy and got a late start to the day. At one point I got the answering service. She told me I should get in my car and drive over to the office to speak to someone. When I finally got through to a person she couldn't change my appointment. She told me a medical assistant would call me. Late this adternoon I tried to call back. I still couldn't get a person. The answering service said they closed at 4:30 and were probably busy. I left a mesaage for someone to call me back. This is why I hate going to the doctor, inefficient office staff. Their office is terrible. Very nice and compassionate doctor. He helped diagnose my Crohn's disease that I struggled with for several years. Saw a few GI's who diagnosed me with Irritable bowel after a lot of tests. Was losing hope when my friend who goes all the way from Daytona to see him , recommended him. I am happy she did. Never felt better since he started my treatment after he diagnosed me. Thankful for that to him. Recommend highly. Lal

I dont know why everyone gets grouchy over a Dr. Office but the Dr. Telling you the correct information is what matters.

I don't understand the 3 star other comments. What the heck were their experiences? How could they be so different from mine? This doctor took all the time I needed. He was thoughtful, patient and explained very well what was occurring and how to fix it. I believe he is competent and a nice fellow, at that. His staff is good, also. Altogether an experience that was well worth it and I am glad I went there.
