Dislocated my jaw in surgery because he blatantly ignored my concerns. Literally go to any other doctor

Very nice guy. Very nice facility. Would give 4 stars but he completely missed my under bite. went to Dr. Friedrich for jaw surgery to correct my sleep apnea. He ignored my concerns about my under bite and poor molar contact. he could have easily fixed this but instead ignored my concerns. Now my back teeth don't touch at all! Chewing is very difficult and my mouth is constantly uncomfortable. What's worse is he told me I would have no more than a dime sized section of permanent numbness on my chin, but my entire chin, lower lip, upper and lower front gums are completely numb. I would not go to this guy - he is a mediocre surgeon at best. Very nice guy. Very nice facility. Dr. Fridrich gave me dental implants (7 & 10). I was concerned that they were not secure in my jaw. Dr. Fridrich said they were A-OK. A few years later, I was still having concerns they were not structurally sound. I went to see two different periodontists about the state of the implants. I did not give them the background or my feeling just said I was coming in to check things were OK. Both periodontists said the implants were poorly placed, not secure in my jaw and would require corrective surgery. Dr. Fridrich has a great reputation (which is why I went to him) so maybe I'm just unlucky but it's been a very long, painful and expensive remediation process. Great nursing staff made you feel very comfortable and at ease. Dr. Kirk Fridich has great bed side manner and talks you through everything so you understand the procedure being done.

Dr. Fridrich is a great surgeon. He came highly recommended to us by our long time (trusted) orthodontist. This is a stressful surgery, when you really think about it, as a parent - placing your kid (mine is 20) into someone's hands. I found Dr. Fridrich to be professional, honest and caring. He didn't sugar coat anything, which was, and is, much appreciated. I felt that he sincerely cared about my son and more importantly, every single resident who came into our prevue had the greatest respect for him. I can not say enough about the care and attention to detail that he gave my son. Two thumbs up (and not that it adds any value, but I AM a critical person).

I agree with Bill's review; I had orthognathic surgery performed by Dr. Fridrich and his resident staff and couldn't be more pleased with the outcome and bedside manner shown. Dr. Fridrich is an amazing surgeon with a lot of years of experience, so don't worry you're in good hands!

Excellent oral surgeon who takes the time to listen to your questions - most of which he has already answered as he carefully explained the procedure. He is a caring and compassionate oral surgeon who is at the top of his field, professionally. Even dental-phobes like me had no reticence in going to Dr. Fridrich - and I was able to give him my trust unconditionally. The results from the approximately four procedures he performed on me were flawless, including one exceptionally involved procedure he did recently. After my traumatizing experience of waking up during my wisdom tooth surgery, I learned that this surgeon typically goes light on anaesthetic assuming patients will not remember the procedure but I was awake for over half and remember every minute. I am less than happy about it and got a serious infection as well which had to be drained. I refused to go back to Dr. Fridrich and instead went to another surgeon. I would NEVER recommend the University of Iowa for dental procedures.
