Kim Schaus

I had an appointment for a consultation today. I called to let them know that it was a traffic problem but I would be about 10 minutes late, it ended up being about 9. Once I got to the office I was told that I had to be rescheduled because you can only be 5 minutes late. No where in the office does it say this policy and I was not informed about it when making or confirming my appointment the day prior.

Dr Schaus cut my wife's perenium after being in the delivery room for within about 10 minutes. She was clearly in a hurry to get out of there. She also acted like she hadn't heard of the trisomy test that tests for Downs syndrome when we requested it. I'm assuming due to her personal beliefs. She directly told us those tests don't exist, but we had several other family members who had received it from their obgyn at the time. The test is now standard practice. We just had our second and third child (twins) with another OB, and the experience was night and day which is why I came back to leave a review detailing our experience with Dr Schaus. We also felt like she was very judgemental for us being young and unwed. Again, I'm assuming, due to her personal beliefs.

I made a follow up appointment for my daughter who has some pretty big issues happening, the office knew I was coming from Longview over an hour away, I adjusted our patient schedule at my office and they will not let me back! Only 1 person! Give me a break. If your that scared go home!!!! You could have said this when I made the appointment and made it abundantly clear that I was coming over an hour away and clearing our patient schedule!! Won’t be back!!!! I was extremely upset when I wrote my initial review, and I believe that I used some harsh language that some might find offensive, so I'll try and do better this time. I knew going into this visit that it had the potential to go the way it did, so I'm not really sure why I'm so surprised when it did end so badly. I guess I had hope that Dr. Schaus wasn't some narrow minded individual and that I could trust her to come to understand my body as I know it having been in it far longer than she's known anything about it, so for her to be so against listening to my needs and wants I was severely disappointed. For me it felt as if her ego was worth more to her than listening to her patients. My mom read an article from 2006 about "narrative medicine" where doctors LISTEN to their patients, it's safe to say that Dr. Schaus is not familiar with nor a believer in narrative medicine. If you dare to advocate on behalf of your body, just avoid the headache.

One of my worst doctor’s appointment’s in 36 years. It barely even started & she couldn’t handle me. I’m no idiot, I know what I want & she gave zero effort to even attempt to my reasoning why. Seems like her ego’s worth more to her. My mom told me about this legitimate, peer-reviewed article from 2006 that she read about this wild phenomenal new trend in medicine called narrative medicine which is where doctor’s LISTEN to their patient’s and it was very clear that she is not a believer in narrative medicine. I was treated very poorly by the medical assistant/nurse at this office. I have never felt so uncomfortable and downgraded. I have also been a medical assistant at a pediatric office for years and would never treat patients the way I was talked to and treated . I was sent there from the care clinic To get a procedure done first visit after she put me in a room and made me wait to not have what they needed I understood and made follow up appointment. After procedure I called with concerns, she has no compassion, and told me they can’t do anything I Will need to go back to clinic. At least learn to have compassion and learn to speak to someone. She was amazing before and after pregnancy. I came to her in the middle if my pregnancy due to doctor change. She was great at caring for my pain due to my body not pregnancy. Also she and the staff acting fast and efficiently to save my baby's life. I have a healthy child and could not be more happy with the service provided. I am for ever greatful. Every single time I’ve been to this office, the employees are always really rude! They also messed up on billing me and billed me for something I wasn’t supposed to be charged for and fought with me about it for months! I would not recommend this place at all!

Wife had multiple appointments cancelled for no reason. Avoid at all costs. Waited weeks and always get cancelled on. Only OBGYN near us but will go to Lufkin now.

One star and I wish I could rate her lower. My wife and I fired her due to lack of respect and not fully explaining what lab test she was running. She insisited on a test for down's syndrome. My wife and I are strongly against abortion so this test wouldn't change our minds. Nor would we want to risk our unborn son's life on a test that is inaccurate. When I told her we didn't want the test, she ignored me like I wasn't in the room and I had no right to have any input in my wife's decision and continued on trying to sell my wife on this test. A month later I recieved a bill in the mail for 700 or so in lab fees. I looked at the test and there was a 128 dollar charge for a drug test. 128 could of done a lot more for my baby then for a test, that was not only unnecessary, but informed me of something that I already knew. That my wife isn't on or never did any drugs. We switched doctors and then came the fun part of trying to get a partial refund, since I paid the 3000 dollar fee upfront. Three months later it took me threatening to call a lawyer and sue to get my refund. Our new obgyn is awesome and luckily for my family this chain of events happened, which prevented us from settling for substandard service at best. One star and I wish I could rate her lower. Doctor Kim Schaus delivered my 5th child. She is very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, thorough and direct. I never had a long wait during any of my appointments. Dr. Schaus was my ob for my son's birth. She was knowledgeable and has a no-nonsense manner, which I appreciate. I was impressed that even though my son was in a painful posterior position, she didn't suggest a cesarean or that I use pain meds I didn't want. Some others have complained about cancelled appointments; this did happen to me a couple of times. However, birth is unpredictable, so I expect she will have to cancel sometimes to deliver babies. I wouldn't want her to keep someone else's appointment if I was waiting to have my baby delivered. Overall, I had a good experience and felt that Dr. Schaus wanted what was best for the baby and me. I have been using Dr. Schaus for years and she has delivered two of my children. She is very professional and has a friendly staff. I highly recommend her as a gynecologist .

I have had a series of appointments with dr. Schaus. More truthfully just her nurses. I feel like I am on a conveyer belt of patients every time I have visited Dr. schaus. In and out, on with the next patient. Normally this would be nice. But I didn't have normal results on my tests. I ended up having to do a procedure. When I was called with the results I had some questions about the condition. The nurse on the phone told me "look it up on web md." I was terrified about the things they were telling me and I had no idea what to expect. When I went in for the procedure, the nurse failed to even read my chart and assumed I had the procedure done before. Dr. Schaus is the very first gynecologist I have ever seen and I am a little traumatized by my experiences. I have never once talked to dr. Schaus about my condition, only the nurses. I still am not even 50% sure what is going on with my body simply because no one has explained anything to me. I came home in tears after my procedure because I had no clue what was going on and I just felt so lowly prioritized. I understand that doctors are busy, but taking care of your patients should be pretty high on your to do list. To put it simply I just feel very ashamed when I go to an appointment there. i would not recommend dr. Schaus to any friend of mine. I have had a series of appointments with dr. Schaus. What an AWESOME experience. Nice Nurse... Very nice Dr ! Nobody likes these kind of appts, but, she made it so easy with her sweet bedside manner. I am new to town and WISH all the Drs' I have seen were HALF as kind and professional as she is.
