He is first doctor that cares about your pain and uses other modalities like diet to reduce pain. It is a pleasure to come to his office.

I always rate my visits with Dr. Schmidt's office with the highest standard.

Very professional answered all my questions. Listened to me and understood my Pain and recommended several courses of care for me to consider. After decades of pain and searching for a non surgical solution to my degenerating joint issues I was delighted to find Dr Schmidt who is certified in Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Pain Management / Residency at Mayo Clinic As a Physiatrist, Dr Schmidt not only proposed an interventional plan for my immediate pain but a long term plan to restore the movement and function of my joint without surgery. Dr Schmidt is the only doctor I’ve had who believes diet plays a role in medical care! His “Food is Medicine” philosophy is one he had to study on his own as they don’t teach it in medical school. Finally, I found a caring doc I can trust!

Dr. Schmidt understood, and explained better than other doctors, the lower spine issue causing pain and numbness down my leg for nearly a year. Dr Schmidt answers all of my questions and has me on the right track.

Dr. Schmidt is very good at answering my questions and explaining issues about my back pain. I feel like I’m on the right track when I speak to him

My visit with Dr. Schmidt was very good. He answered all my questions and explained what they could do for my problem. This is the second time I will have a procedure performed by Dr. Schmidt and highly recommend him! Dr. Schmidt and the entire staff were all very cordial.

If I could give this place and this doctor NO stars, I would. I was referred to this so called doctor because of sever back pain cause by a herniated vertebrae, two slipped discs, arthritis and a sciatic nerve pinched so severely that I had no feeling in the surface of my skin. Disregarding the hike it was to find the office WITH BACK PAIN, the visit was possibly the worst encounter I’ve ever had with a “doctor”. He lead by asking what I would like to try between doing nothing and getting injections. I said, “I would like to have pain management so that I can continue the strengthening exercises to get movement back. From that point on, it was a game of “let’s get her to admit she’s a drug addict.” At a certain point in the appointment, I was so confused as to what he was even trying to say or do. Because it turned into him trying to convince me that if I chose to medicate my pain, I would FOR SURE become addicted. I told this man, “I can to you because I was told you had an expertise in this field allowing you to access and treat in ways my primary could not.” He cut me off, and I aloud said, “I was trying to communicate with you and all you’ve done is interrupt me. Go ahead.” He didn’t say anything after that. Left my room and I had to walk myself out of the office. The most insensitive doctor I have ever met. Three years going to the clowns at Concetra for a work related back injury. I was finally able to get a doctor change through the court system.They destroyed my lower back with failed injections and surgery.Was able to see Dr.Schmidt for pain relief,wow what a difference with a super quality Doctor.Great knowledge and great communicator,you will be happy!

I’m a disabled Veteran. Many back surgeries. The owners of this practice need to do themselves a favor and get rid of this man. I’ve heard it all from him. My pain from getting blown downhill with navy seals that the pain is in my head. Only 5% suffer from pain from what I’m experiencing. He is in the business of lying to patients so the practice is still making money. He did his injections nothing. In fact it tore one of my disc. It’s a way for them to make money and unfortunately he gets to be a pompous PersonHe don’t do injections or stick a needle somewhere his expertise is no longer needed there and he will be let go and be should be. He needs to be employed by a hospital under someone with many many many years of experience and not let go on his own. He doesn’t know his expertise fully and his last employer shows this. I had to leave because when he tore my disc and along with my other back issues and pain and him telling me it’s in my head and 5% only have pain mind you all

I have been under Dr. Checa's care for almost two years now and he has been an exceptional doctor! I have a rare disease which he has spent time learning about and keeping up on new research and treatments even though he just manages the pain aspect of my disease. He also communicates very well and on a regular basis with all of my other specialists...if your sick you know how rare this is. In April of this year, I was thrown a curve ball and found out I am expecting...some of my meds have changed, obviously, but Dr. Checa has gone above and beyond to ensure that he is able to provide me with the best care possible. I can't recommend him enough to others who have had a rough medical history and are looking for a specialist in pain management to manage their pain. My pain was being managed by a palliative care doctor prior to switching to Dr. Checa, and I am glad I made the decision to change. After three visits, I was frustrated with Kevin. The first two were a waste of time, since nothing was recommended for my pain. He repeatedly told me what I could do. Physical therapy, drugs, surgery, or injections. After three previous surgeries on my back, I know what is possible. I chose a facet injection on my second visit, which was denied. I believe it is Kevin’s fault, due to not following proper paperwork. The third, and last visit, I was told that I would have to start over because of the denial. He then offered a lidocaine injection in his office. The first, and only recommendation he made. When I voiced my frustration with him, I was told that we didn’t communicate very well on my previous visits, and my pain was unusual. He didn’t tell me that until I voiced my frustration on the third visit. Without science, how can my pain be unusual? When I went to my file with Centura, what he posted reinforced that he didn’t hear what I told him.

Horrible. Horrible, pompous, arrogant little man. A control freak with a God complex. I was assigned to him, did not have a choice. If you have the choice, choose a different Dr.

Not a nice man. Seemed to express to me that I was just there for pain pills. I didn't even asked to go to him. My doctor referred me to him.I didn't even want pills and didn't get any cause all I wanted was to find out what was wrong with me. I chose PT

Was seen as a new patient for having cluster headaches. I spoke to the Dr and after my very short visit, i was billed over $1,000!!! How can they justify that!? He prescribed me some meds and that was all.

Amazing been to other clinics none are as professional with as many resources as Pain MD.

Echo what others are saying. This clinic and it’s staff represent the worst of our health care system. They don’t answer or return calls; charge $400 for a visit after making you wait 2 hours; this is 3rd world medicine! Look elsewhere at all costs - they are the worst!

If I could give negative stars I would. I am in severe pain among other things after a procedure they performed on Monday. I have called at least 15 times since then and I am continually told someone will call me back and no one ever does. Terrible lack of compassion for a Medicaid patient who had private insurance for 35 yes, and has taken pain and anxiety meds (thru Pain M. Clinics in UT.)and from a local PA! over 8 years! They Cut me off cold turkey and refused meds. O had only a few spares to taper off with. Did not return calls during Scary detox on a weekend. I had to drive there during dystonia to try to get a bridge. Did not prescribe good alternatives. Did not look at my imaging or believe I have EDS. Dr. C was very mean. PA still will not refill non opiate meds and the PCP she referred will not accept me either. Have been without proper treatment 6 months. Including Klonopin and Morphine for anxiety and brain deformity. Invisible pain and illnesses are as real as ones you can see! Wanted s good pain Doctor that could help me with continuous pain problems. Had Dr. Smith recommended, made an appointment and he made a very good impression. Spinal stimulation was recommended and first go round was successful.Now have additional surgery done by an other Dr. The only time out of numerous visits to the office that I have had contact with the Drs. is during surgery. Getting a return call from the office staff takes forever,. Answering machine says they will get back in 24 hours!!!. HOPE YOU ARE NEVER IN A RUSH WITH AN EMERGENCY.. Total staff are polite and courteous..Dr Checa shows the right amount of concern and empathy for patients with pain. They always discuss your total treatment plan and options.

I am 66 and have suffered with back pain since an injury when I was 19. I have been unable to find any kind of lasting relief until meeting Dr. Schmidt about 7 years age. Now with only occasional treatments I am able to experience a much improved quality of life. I would highly recommend Dr. Schmidt to anyone suffering with debilitating back pain.

I find Dr. Schmitt to have such arrogance! I asked to see him and was put to his PA. His nurse said she informed him and he still felt the PA could help me after a failed injection. So after I met with the PA then had me wait while she talked to Dr. Schmidt!! Then I have to hear from the PA not good options for me! Guess I'm not that important to him!

I saw Dr. Schmidt for a about a year for a chronic pain issue. He was always very professional and clearly explained procedures beforehand. As a result, he excels at putting patients at ease. Dr. Schmidt always had time to answer my questions thoroughly. He was willing to explore many avenues of pain management with me and persevered until we found one that provided benefit. I will be forever grateful to him for suggesting the spinal cord stimulator trial and eventual placement.

My experience with Dr. Schmidt was AMAZING!! He was very thorough and explained everything to me. During the procedure, he talked to me the whole time and told me what was going on. Another thing that was INVALUABLE to me, is that he went SLOWLY with what he was doing. I can't say how important that is to me. It's a very vulnerable position, to have your back exposed with pain, and know that needles will be going into your back. He put a lot of my worries at ease, and I appreciate it very much.

I've had great experiences with Dr. Schmidt. He really listened to me as I described my symptoms, explained his recommended course of action (moving from least invasive to most until I got the pain relief I needed), and easing my fears. Chronic pain is scary, especially out of the blue, and I felt okay about things for the first time in months after I talked to Dr. Schmidt. I found him to be kind, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely concerned with my wellbeing.

Dr. Schmidt gave me spinal injections for back pain. He was totally professional in every way. He explained every aspect of the procedure and requested and answered my questions. He never appeared rushed. During the procedure he kept me informed, constantly asked how I was doing, was I in pain, etc. I experienced essentially no pain at all. He was concerned and attentive, and friendly. I recommend Dr. Schmidt in this field without reservation. All staff equally outstanding, friendly.

I just moved to Colorado from another state, and I've been going to 2 other pain doctors for help with my very messed up back that was caused from a car accident and genetics. Dr. Schmidt was a very arrogant Doctor. He wouldn't even let me tell him where it hurt,what procedures I had gone through in the last years. He just kept telling me well maybe we should do this procedure on your back,. In which I had already done 10 times. He didn't even look in my chart to see I have done everything.

The experience with the staff and Dr Schmidt exceeded mt expectations. Dr Schmidt was outstanding and the staff I met, Christiana, MA, and JoAnne were awesome too. This wasn't the case on a prior visit in 2009.

I was patient there 3 yrs ago and if it was for the great doctors and staff I would have gotten the help I truly needed!
