Highly recommend!

Visited Dr Gill after doing some research and identifying him as the best coccyx specialist around. He’s highly rated and highly recommended by patients and others in the medical community. He’s very confident in his abilities and will be taking care of my extremely painful coccyx coming up in December. His staff were all friendly and Lori was very easy to work with in setting up the surgery. He was able to recommend another surgeon to do my back surgery that I am needing as well. I’m excited to not have a literal pain in my as$!! I also thought it was cool they offer hotel packages for people that have negotiated rates for people to stay at. First time with Dr. Gill. It’s seldom Doctors will personally call prior to your first appointment. This guy has done it all. He’s is an advocate for the patient! Outstanding.

I was referred to Dr Gill and I am so thankful! Dr Gill explained what was needed and spoke honestly about the outcomes. He accepted my insurance and also MRIs and CTs from outside sources. He is one of few doctors that I trust. I wasn’t able to follow through with more work due to the pandemic and a car accident. Transportation after procedures are not available for me so unfortunately I will not be able to go to Dallas but I still plan to have him look over and advise if possible. He is a wonderful doctor.

I was pleasantly surprised to find such a genuinely honest second opinion with regard to my current condition. I’ve been dreading this for over a year, but feel so much better now. As with all UTSW Physicians & staff; they’re simply the very best!

Dr Gill, is just amazing. He did my surgery 1998. L5s1 we had it scheduled for February. I worked at FedEx and that job is brutal on the spine. I suddenly fell to my knees and had no sensation. My wife called the next day they found room to move it up and for my birthday, I had surgery. But Dr Gill and his team are always ready to answer and explain in detail what to expect. he gave me my options and made sure I knew what will happen down the road. And he was rigt! I would not trust my spine to anyone else. Lastly he is the top in the field and is always on new innovations to make sure your spine will have the proper placement . Dr. Gill is very talented and confident. He has performed 4 surgeries on me. 3 were fusions. I never have experienced any problems post surgery. He is direct and will not leave you wondering. I am thankful for Dr. Gill and to have had such a talented surgeon.

Dr. Gill Preformed L4-L5 and L5-S1 laminectomey/discectomy June 2015. His care, before during and after was wonderful and my recovery was amazingly quick, heck went to eat at Pappadeaux's right after I was released then drove two hours home after that. So why am I writing this review nearly 5 years later, I had to have another back surgery and decided to stay local. Care was poor after surgery. Recovery nurse told me that the Doctor had an emergency meeting at another campus so he will not see me post op but he would call me. I was in much pain after the surgery that I went straight home and to bed with no appetite. Here I am 2 weeks later and I am in worse pain than before the surgery and I still have not seen or talked with the doctor.

Dr Gill performed a microdiscectomy on me 5 years ago. I was immediately pain free and recommend him to anyone suffering back pain.

I got referred by another excellent surgeon, Dr Mark Watson, and I was completely satisfied with Dr Gill from our first meeting until the surgery. He explained everything and while I was in recovery went and talked with my wife telling her everything about the surgery. We had complete confidence in Dr Gill from the first meeting. Very knowledgeable and compassionate man. Any surgery on my spine will be done by Dr Gill. I don’t understand all the negative comments about Dr Gill. Doesn’t sound like the Dr Gill I know. My surgery went exactly as he said. He’s a man of his word. Thank you Dr Gill

While one review said that Dr. Gill calls his own patients, my experience was different. A member of his staff called me with results; however Dr. Gill was in the room so she could relay my questions to him during the call. While several of Dr. Gill’s staff & Dr. Gill himself were exceptionally nice, a few were rather impersonal and dismissive, giving me the feeling they had no time for me or my concerns/treatment. Not really a good way to treat a first-time patient. Years ago I regularly saw a doctor in a different specialty at Aston. UTSW has grown immensely since then. Parking there used to be easy. Now it is inconvenient and there is no way for a handicapped person to park near the building without spending money. The layers of bureaucracy to speak with personnel in dealing with logistics for any exception to the rule can be nightmarish. All in all, I found my experience not very pleasurable.

Kevin gill needs to retire. He now works at UT Southwestern, Aston, he calls his own patients back, doesn’t take outside MRI’s, barely visited 15 minutes, and was not at all concerned with me, much less my health. It is sad, I allowed him to do my first fusion 4 years ago, and thought I would give him another try. I do NOT recommend him.

Awesome surgeon. But I pray I never need his services again.

The best of the best!

Dr. Gill and his entire team are awesome! He is one of the few back docs that still takes Medicare.

I met doctor Gill ten years ago, he was kind and professional as same as the recent encounter. Doctor Gill, thank you for your guidance to the doctor that I required. I am under way to recovery.

Dr Gill has performed multiple surgeries on my crooked back. He is simply THE BEST. I highly recommend him if you need back surgery.

Dr. Gill performed spinal fusion on me in 2012. I did my homework and found he was among the very best in our area, actually in the U.S. If needed again, I would not consider any other spinal surgeon than Dr. Gill.

I had seen all the back surgeons in Plano and Frisco who looked at my MRI and immediately wanted to do a fusion of L4 and L5. I did not want a fusion because I know how major it was and could upset the other discs. And then I met Dr. Kevin Gill and Lori who literally turned by back problem into child's play. He know his stuff inside and out. And he is a Neuro/Ortho Surgeon you couldn't get any better. He took 1 look at my MRI and CT Scan and said I need a Disctectomy and Lamenectomy and Decompression of L4, L5 and S1. I have NEVER felt so comfortable with a surgeon and his office in my life. He took the time to explain everything to me. He said I didn't need a fusion. I trusted him completely and totally. And for the first time I felt comfortable scheduling a surgery. And I wanted it to be the next day I was in sooo much pain. I had been to Chiro, PT and had several injections nothing worked. Dr. Gill is conservative and does what is best for the PATIENT only. He and Lori truly care and I couldn't wait to have my surgery and I scared to death of surgery/hospitals and needles. That is how much I think of him. And I would do it again tomorrow if I had to. I am standing in my kitchen pain free and I was in level 7/8 pain for a year. None of the other doctors would do anything less than a fusion for me. Please see Dr. Kevin Gill he will change/save your life. And Lori is PA is just as awesome. You will not be sorry. I just can't say enough. I brought Lori a bottle of Merlot Wine and Dr. Gill a bottle of Johnny Walker Black scotch to thank him. And a box a Godiva chocolates the day of surgery I was so happy. He was so thankful and said you didn't have to do that. I said no thank you, you gave me my life back I would buy him a distillery. He said you are the reason why we do what we do. Such a noble man. I truly hope this helps someone because back surgery is very scary and if you have 1 you have 5. Well Im not scared anymore and only have to have one. I was sent to Kevin Gill for a second opinion. In agreement with a previous poster, one of the female staff members (the first person we dealt with, going in), was incredibly unfriendly, and just damn near rude. Not really sure why she’s working with the public. Fortunately, Debra at the front desk was kind and sweet and we just loved her. Start to finish, she was wonderful. Too bad the other staff member hasn’t learned something from this gem. Kevin was brilliant, thorough, interesting, and friendly. He took far more time with me than my actual surgeon, explaining the details of the surgery, drawing upon relevant social situations, and even discussing some history that explains the predicament I’m in, now. He gave me precautionary suggestions which I heavily appreciate, and wish I could sit down with him, and pick his brain on a regular basis. His brilliant direct approach will make you wish you chose him before anyother surgeon ... after 2 failed back surgery’s over 5 years With a very well known spinal surgeon in Frisco my father and I where looking for a miracle . Dr, Gills HONESTY was priceless . He took the time to talk Candidly about where the previous surgeon had cut corners resulting in 2 failed surgeries, he didn’t Up sell his consultation or make false promises on procedures. He was honest and forthright on the next plan of attack for the consistent pain from our stenosis nightmare. He set up a plan of oblation therapy every 3mo for the next year with pain meds along with yoga to help with balance. Some might shrug there shoulders and say “ Is that a plan?” And my reply would simply be ( yes) any other surgeon in my opinion would have pushed for a fusion of the spine with a year and a half recovery time with little to no results with huge risks. I was introduced to the possibility of Dr. Gill being the very best doctor to correct an "inter-body fusion" that had failed. This was in 8-91. Dr. Gill was recommended by an accomplished brain surgeon, Dr. Jackson (a friend from childhood). The corrective surgery was accomplished within three days of examination. Dr Gill and his staff were fantastic I will be recommending them to anyone I know who has disc issues. Friendly helpful staff overall my experience has been first class 2 days post op and I am already noticing several improvements in my condition. Dr. Gill is exelcent these people who gave him any negative review don't know what they are talking about. Best Doctor Surgeon in the US. I had my surgery with him in September and for the first time in my life I am completely out of back pain. See this doctor you will not be sorry. Don't listen to other people's negativity make your own opinion. He is one of the BEST doctors I have ever seen. People come from all over the United States to have him do their surgery. If you make an appointment with this doctor you will not get to see him. He will make you see his assistant. The assistant will send you for an MRI and she decides if you are a suitable candidate for a surgery. If not, no further consultations are offered. Very poor practice.

Dr. Gill has done 3 surgeries on my back for me. He has always been very helpful in explaining what was wrong with my back and what I needed to do to help it feel better. I have never had a complaint about him or his staff. All back surgeries are not the same nor or all of them perfect. Mine just happened to be. I have told Dr. Gill repeatedly that he cannot retire until I die and he just laughs at that. I hope he never does.

Dr Gill is so good that I had my sister fly from TN to have him work on her lower back.others could not help her,; he did.

Dr. Gill is a great surgeon and I have recommended him to so many others whom also have had great outcomes. The only downside to Dr. Gill's practice is that the administration of UTSW moved him to another office building where his support staff went from A+++ to a C- as well as an inability to get into the building itself. Dr. Gill spends a great amount of time with the individual and will be a straight shooter whether he can help or not. Highly recommend to others. Dr. Gill is an incredible surgeon and when I read the reviews I'm floored because he is an incredible communicator that is also straight forward. His staff on the other hand or lazy and don't follow through on orders, etc. I have reached out multiple times to administration to no avail. Dr. Gill used to have control over his domain including staff members, but UTSW cut them out when they moved his office. I highly recommend him and have referred multiple family members and friends to him.

Went to Dr. Gill after researching several spine surgeons in the area. Worse mistake I made. I should have stayed with my initial appointment with another Doctor that I already had set. After a 45 minute drive, Dr. Gill did not even examine me at the appointment. Barely looked at the MRI I brought in. The whole appointment was him trying to talk me into going to another surgeon too have the procedure done that he specializes in (Fusion). I have never felt so rushed at a medical app.

Found he was too full of himself. Very rude, dismissive and almost to the point of insulting

Being 29 years I never expected that I would be faced with spine surgery. I had seen Dr. Gill in the past and he was a God send then and even more so now. He was prompt, spent a lot of time with me and even my grandmother. His goal is to create a better quality of life and even though he makes his money on operating he never pressures you into that decision. Everyone in his office is a pleasure to work with. AMAZING TEAM all around.

He is a God gifted doctor with remarkable skills. I went in to the surgery with him as my surgeon unable to walk for three months. I am a 54 year old active man. I walked out of hospital on my own on the same day. I went back to work a week later. I am walking 3-4 miles a day now.(two weeks post surgery) I am 100% pain free and feel like I have been given another life to live. I have 12 staples in my back which are coming out next week. After that, I am planing to start swimming then working out

I was referred to Dr. Gill by another physician. Obviously he has never experienced Dr. Gill's poor and unprofessional experience. Dr. Gill never examined me at my appointment, had the wrong MRI scans in my file and does not communicate. Now that I have read all of the horrible reviews, how does this man stay in business. Why does UT continue to allow him to work there. His office is unorganized, and does not respond. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH DR. GILL!!

I honestly thought Dr. Gill was a godsend after my first fusion. Not so much after my 2nd fusion. Went with a different surgeon for my 3rd surgery. His office staff does a great job of not allowing you an appointment or even a phone call to him. They told me I was no longer a surgical case move on. I'm glad I did or I would never have known how badly he screwed up my back. 3 surgeries in 3 years. I lost that much of my life to him.all reviewers have multiple surgeries why? Think about it.

I have over 12 years experience with Dr. Gill and he is a consummate professional. I've had two cervical surgeries---one was a full artificial disc replacement at C6/7 (2004 age 59) and a disc fusion at C5/6 (2014 age 69). Both surgeries had superb outcomes. In 2004 Dr Gill was one of very few doing artificial Implants and in 2014 used the newest low invasive procedures. He literally saved my aviation career and has given me many years of very active living. I HIGHLY recommend he and his staff.

Dr. Gill has done 3 back surgeries and one neck surgery on me. To me he is the most amazing Dr. in the world. I have never experienced pain like this before. He saw me and had me in surgery within a week. I've never had a Dr. take care of me as quickly as he did. No therapy, no this and that...he just saw what I needed and he fixed it. He's a no bull kind of Dr. He's very open and explains everything. I would and have recommended quite a few people to him. He's truly amazing!!
